The anime was definitely really fun, tho if they ever get to the next part of the story, the story gets quite slow, due to weird scientific concepts getting introduced (also they skipped quite a lot of the story in the manga in the anime so that they could get to the end of the war faster).
The OG writer got kinda cancelled cause of nationalism comments that crossed 'lines' and the high amounts of misogyny (even if most medieval cultures were) he was kind of a douchnozzle about it, iirc. @@nicholasjacobs6605

You are just having a different experience. Gate is very much alive today after all Isekai is one of the main sub genres that Japan won’t let go of.
Gate was really entertaining as far as I remember, with a surprisingly deep political subplot for what is essentially an isekai. If you wanna watch it then you should, it's great.
It was a recruitment campaign for the JSDF, funded by the JSDF. Kinda sad that they ended it in season 2. Hopefully, if they need more recruits, they'll continue with season 3. Might be a little harder to do since they changed the ending of season 2 to a happy end instead. In the actual story that was when things started getting complicated and more brutal.
Go read the manga. The art, the politics, the romance, the battle insanely difference because it feel like anime has cut too many things. It's was like 100 episodes has been cut and compress to fit 24 episodes
@@Doggof2p it's an isekai. Anything that goes to "another world" (isekai) is an isekai, there is no half or full isekai. Kinda how Narnia is a western isekai. I think people get confused and think that isekai requires you to get stuck or reincarnated in another world.
Well, Luke you spoke a magical words. Shinsekai Yori is a very interesting and mysterious story. You may check it out, it's a story with many twists and turns and I really struggle to not spoil anything. It's hard to say sth without going into details, but this anime tells a story about a group of teenagers in the world a bit different than our's. The best thing is to go completely blind into this anime bc it's exploring a lot of sociological and psychological themes.Also it's quite brave in it's idea and in exploring them.

The great thing about this anime is that it is not only based on a typical isekai where the main character travels and meets girls... but it also gives him a real approach to how both worlds are transformed politically and culturally. And how our world is transformed when this new source of raw materials, mineral resources and fuels appears...! and the policies adopted by all these countries with Japan where this source of wealth appears. great anime, very little valued in my opinion... thanks for the reaction as always🎉

Its not like the story is about glorifying mass murder or genocide or something, its a semi-realistic look at what it would be like for the JSDF to defend Japan against an invading force that suddenly appeared within their capital city and what would come from there.

Entertaining anime. Gate to a fantasy world appears in the middle of Tokyo. Japanese Self Defense Force sets up a military base on the other side and begins to explore. Follows Itami, a JSDF officer, specifically. I recommend it.
Day 109 of recommending the Beyblade openings. There are the Japanese ones and the English ones. The English version has one opening for a generation, and that for the 1st and 2nd generation. The 3rd gen has one op for one season. But the Japanese version has multiple ops for a season in any gen. You should definitely check both versions out. I made playlists on my channel, so you don't need to search, cause in those compilations are a few off and not in the correct order. Thanks for checking out!
the anime full name is Gate: Thus we fought there. this entire anime was a big love letter to the JSDF aka Japan Self Defense force which is their standing military. they tried combining Isekai with modern military concepts and it mostly worked although we do hope a season 3 is coming.

Gate is finished as a light novel series. The author is writing a sequel series currently with new characters. The official manga is behind but last I checked is doing the sequel also which no longer includes Itami as the MC
Only if they change the second half of the second season, they skipped completely a very important discussion between the mc groups and the goddess Hardy, wich involves the very end of the work. And a lot of interaction between the main and sub characters, also they skipped a few volumes just to have that scene with all the couples in the end, it as what 3 or 4 entire volumes, just for one scene. So yes they need to do a rework on the second half of the second season or a total reboot, to have a new season.
for the first ending it is the VA's for the blond elf, blue haired girl, and the black haired goth loli If I'm correct the first solo singer is the goth loli (Rori), the second is the blond elf (Tuka), and the last solo before they sing the chorus is the blue haired girl (Lelei)
I really hope you react to The World God Only Knows openings eventually (you can watch the endings too if you want but I really want to see your reaction to the openings 😅) They are really great, especially the full versions (just know that opening 1 full version is 8-9 minutes and opening 3 full version is 13 minutes)

GATE is a pretty interesting isekai. Is about a gate that appears in Japan wich leads to a phantasy world, and the japanese army (actually not an army, is called "Self Defense Forces") cross it to explore it
GATE is an awesome show, I would like to watch a 3rd season, besides I think most of the morbidity is covered in the two seasons so no much is left to add to it. The anime literally starts with the fantasy world invading Japan, then Japan counters and controls The Gate from the fantasy world side.
Gate Is as you have guess is about the Traversing new lands in another world through the gate that open up in Japan. It is definitely a fun watch and i would love to see your reaction of it. If you ever wonder to yourself, how modern arms would work against Fantasy creatures/world, this anime shows just that. It's not just all battle in isekai world thou, since there are stuff like politics and how the two world interacts to keep peace, kinda of like how two different country would after going to war. The Band for the opening, Kisidakyoudan & the Akebosi rockets, also sung the opening for Highschool of the Dead, Strike the blood and a few other anime and games. Personally i have all those song downloaded on my phone but my favorite is from this visual novel game openings called World end Economia.

I agree the opening are indeed bangers. I think the concept of GATE is really neat and the show was a fun watch for me. I think you'd probably enjoy it. It's not all that different from some of the other shows that have been voted for. Also I'm down for Overlord after Re:Zero.
Its been a while since i watched gate. The concept is very interesting and they adapted it very well. I think its very underrated and deserves more attention. Also the first opening is in my top 5 anime openings
Just a little info. They main soldiers were not Americans but Japanese (Japanese flag shown there lol)（￢з￢）σ*＾＾*). The main soldiers are Jietai 自衛隊 aka JSDF (Japan Self-Defense Forces/Japanese Armed Forces) which is the unified military forces of Japan IRL, since 1954 until now. ^^ その情報がお役に立てば幸いです P.S : Want to know the context? GATE is so awesome. The idea of an isekai where a more modernized armed force encounters swords and magic, as well as help each other out when necessary, was really cool. Even more so the idea that the "gate" itself is open and allows passage of anyone through it. Really loved the part where the people from the fantasy world visit the modern world.
Gate is a very enjoyable anime, its very fun and the concept its treated very well as well. I give it a 9/10 cuz its a very easy to get into anime. i watched its 2 seasons at least 3 times, and i watched over 700 animes, so coming back to good series it means something.

Nowadays the band that did the openings, Kishida Kyoudan, does original songs, some of them for anime. But in the early days, they were known for their Touhou covers (yes, that Touhou rabbit hole you've recently started exploring). Look up "YU-MU" for a famous example, or just Kishida Kyoudan Touhou in general.
This anime makes you realize how far we got into weaponry You see bows and sword, mounts, and then the cheer power of destruction of a 120mm smoothbore gun firing a depleted uranium APFSDS round Or airstrike from chopper and planes, or just how guns are effective The anime is the definition of "This is the future of warfare you lizard rider" and then blasted SABATON at full volume, and I love it It is kinda satisfying to see them attacking the army with little to no effect and then getting obliterated
Mr. Luke I think you would love all the full songs. the group for the openings is "kishida kyoudan & the akebosi rockets" and they are quite underrated. Not only the songs, but I'm sure you would love how they show the difference between the two sides. How each side looks at the other. Shinsekai Yori can be a bit confusing of a watch for some. It is an amazing watch nonetheless. No opening song, but the ending song is an absolute banger.
The third season was supposed to have xenomorphs from Aliens but due to copyright they couldn't get the license for it and the third season has basically been on permanent hiatus.

Gate is actually my first anime i ever watched. Its not really "great" but is a lot of fun to watch. I decided to watch it after reading a book with a very similar concept with a cold war era military finding a pass through the giant mountain chain separating the earth in two and invading a early colonial era mild fantasy world behind it
to the girl in black, yes rory is a interesting char, spoiler: she is a immortal half goddess on her way to become a full fledged one. itami the mc is a full grown man (i think he was 35,, not shure anymore^^), already divorced once and with personality. and his problem is that the girl he finds interessting personality wise is rory, but with her etarnal young looks he is a little bit troubeld. she knows this and play full into it
If you're in the mood for any fighting anime, one I don't see recommended is Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple. It's about various martial arts and one guy's journey mastering them. GATE here is a nice one. As you guessed fantasy meets reality. There's quite a bit of politics too having to do with the struggles to coexist while being vastly different.
Literally me when I heard this opening the instrumental of this anime reminds me of the instrumental of Highschool of the Dead and it resonates in my ear and then I searched and knew that it was the same freaking band.
Ohhh you would definitely love GATE. It was one of my earliest anime and I can say its pretty solid even by today's standard. Like you say, the concept itself already interesting. As for the story, it involves a LOT of politics. Not the boring kind, but the kind that will make you feel pissed off from time to time 😂
GATE is basically a gateway to a medieval fantasy D&D world appearing in Tokyo, an army coming out to try and invade, being repelled, and then Japan sending their Self Defense Force to the other world to defend themselves and find out why they attacked.
This anime is short, cool and honastly just so much fun to watch. Such a feel Good Action Show I would rewatch in an instand. If you want something to just lay back and enjoy with a cool concept you may want to give it a go and see ^^

Gate is incredibly fun. Definitely one of my favorites and I highly recommend checking it out!
for the first ending it is the VA's for the blond elf, blue haired girl, and the black haired goth loli
If I'm correct the first solo singer is the goth loli (Rori), the second is the blond elf (Tuka), and the last solo before they sing the chorus is the blue haired girl (Lelei)
I really hope you react to The World God Only Knows openings eventually (you can watch the endings too if you want but I really want to see your reaction to the openings 😅)
They are really great, especially the full versions (just know that opening 1 full version is 8-9 minutes and opening 3 full version is 13 minutes)

GATE is a pretty interesting isekai. Is about a gate that appears in Japan wich leads to a phantasy world, and the japanese army (actually not an army, is called "Self Defense Forces") cross it to explore it

This anime is one i will throw on every once in a while and binge. Its just a nice little package thats got a great balance of things for my tastes.
GATE is an awesome show, I would like to watch a 3rd season, besides I think most of the morbidity is covered in the two seasons so no much is left to add to it. The anime literally starts with the fantasy world invading Japan, then Japan counters and controls The Gate from the fantasy world side.
Gate Is as you have guess is about the Traversing new lands in another world through the gate that open up in Japan. It is definitely a fun watch and i would love to see your reaction of it. If you ever wonder to yourself, how modern arms would work against Fantasy creatures/world, this anime shows just that. It's not just all battle in isekai world thou, since there are stuff like politics and how the two world interacts to keep peace, kinda of like how two different country would after going to war.
The Band for the opening, Kisidakyoudan & the Akebosi rockets, also sung the opening for Highschool of the Dead, Strike the blood and a few other anime and games. Personally i have all those song downloaded on my phone but my favorite is from this visual novel game openings called World end Economia.
it's Addictive for me, my friend, and it's about the Gate that show it self in Japan, and an Empire army came out from it, that's the Start of that Anime
GATE!!! One of the best isekai shows ive watched. I was so disappointed on how I havent watched it earlier. Despite everyone’s opinion on it, I really enjoyed it very much which makes you want to rewatch it. Btw Rory Supremacy🛐🛐

Just a little info. They main soldiers were not Americans but Japanese (Japanese flag shown there lol)（￢з￢）σ*＾＾*). The main soldiers are Jietai 自衛隊 aka JSDF (Japan Self-Defense Forces/Japanese Armed Forces) which is the unified military forces of Japan IRL, since 1954 until now. ^^ その情報がお役に立てば幸いです

Wow, i haven't heard of GATE in a while. I watched it when it first came out and i remembered enjoying it a lot. A solid 8/10 from me.
Top tier anime on my list!! rewatching a lot and not getting bored...fyi, the manga itself are pretty brutal too
GATE is so awesome. The idea of an isekai where a more modernized armed force encounters swords and magic, as well as help each other out when necessary, was really cool. Even more so the idea that the "gate" itself is open and allows passage of anyone through it. Really loved the part where the people from the fantasy world visit the modern world.
"It rewound on it's own" for both guys and girls. Love the equality xD

Gate is a very enjoyable anime, its very fun and the concept its treated very well as well. I give it a 9/10 cuz its a very easy to get into anime. i watched its 2 seasons at least 3 times, and i watched over 700 animes, so coming back to good series it means something.

Gate is great, one of those race concept's where you get modern guns in a fantasy world, I'd love to see more of those
Nowadays the band that did the openings, Kishida Kyoudan, does original songs, some of them for anime. But in the early days, they were known for their Touhou covers (yes, that Touhou rabbit hole you've recently started exploring). Look up "YU-MU" for a famous example, or just Kishida Kyoudan Touhou in general.
This anime makes you realize how far we got into weaponry
You see bows and sword, mounts, and then the cheer power of destruction of a 120mm smoothbore gun firing a depleted uranium APFSDS round
Or airstrike from chopper and planes, or just how guns are effective
The anime is the definition of "This is the future of warfare you lizard rider" and then blasted SABATON at full volume, and I love it
It is kinda satisfying to see them attacking the army with little to no effect and then getting obliterated
If you're planning on watching it, I watched it in the eng dub and had a rlly good time listening all the way through

Mr. Luke I think you would love all the full songs. the group for the openings is "kishida kyoudan & the akebosi rockets" and they are quite underrated. Not only the songs, but I'm sure you would love how they show the difference between the two sides. How each side looks at the other. Shinsekai Yori can be a bit confusing of a watch for some. It is an amazing watch nonetheless. No opening song, but the ending song is an absolute banger.
The music videos for the OP songs are even better, somehow.
The third season was supposed to have xenomorphs from Aliens but due to copyright they couldn't get the license for it and the third season has basically been on permanent hiatus.

Gate is actually my first anime i ever watched. Its not really "great" but is a lot of fun to watch. I decided to watch it after reading a book with a very similar concept with a cold war era military finding a pass through the giant mountain chain separating the earth in two and invading a early colonial era mild fantasy world behind it
to the girl in black, yes rory is a interesting char, spoiler:
she is a immortal half goddess on her way to become a full fledged one. itami the mc is a full grown man (i think he was 35,, not shure anymore^^), already divorced once and with personality. and his problem is that the girl he finds interessting personality wise is rory, but with her etarnal young looks he is a little bit troubeld. she knows this and play full into it

If you're in the mood for any fighting anime, one I don't see recommended is Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple. It's about various martial arts and one guy's journey mastering them.
GATE here is a nice one. As you guessed fantasy meets reality. There's quite a bit of politics too having to do with the struggles to coexist while being vastly different.

Literally me when I heard this opening the instrumental of this anime reminds me of the instrumental of Highschool of the Dead and it resonates in my ear and then I searched and knew that it was the same freaking band.

Ohhh you would definitely love GATE. It was one of my earliest anime and I can say its pretty solid even by today's standard. Like you say, the concept itself already interesting. As for the story, it involves a LOT of politics. Not the boring kind, but the kind that will make you feel pissed off from time to time 😂

GATE is basically a gateway to a medieval fantasy D&D world appearing in Tokyo, an army coming out to try and invade, being repelled, and then Japan sending their Self Defense Force to the other world to defend themselves and find out why they attacked.

This anime is short, cool and honastly just so much fun to watch. Such a feel Good Action Show I would rewatch in an instand. If you want something to just lay back and enjoy with a cool concept you may want to give it a go and see ^^
