    Canadian here, we have been vacationing in JA for years and have had no desire to go elsewhere until this recent travel warning. We love JA, the people, the food the music, the culture but all this crime makes us nervous. If we do go we are not likely to travel outside the resort. We are about to book a vacation for the fall but may have to reconsider. We appreciate the honesty of your vlog and hope things will improve. soon.

      Crime is everywhere including here in beautiful America. So hypocritical of these warnings. The bottom line is, people must always be cognizant of where they are and with whom. I was born in Jamaica and even now when I visit, I know to avoid going certain places at certain timeframe. You would never catch me in Bed Sty after a certaint time. I have no business there. Tourists love breaking the rules. Nuff said.

      And that's sad because despite everything else, it is a wonderful country. It has a culture like no other place I have ever been to and you just have to experience that to appreciate it. The people there are some of the warmest, most brilliant people I have ever had the honor to get to know. The food is fabulous, the country is stunningly beautiful. This crime problem is horrific for visitors but, it's more terrible by FAR for those living there who have to deal with it every day no matter what. I want to work for a solution with those who care so that people such as yourself will one day be planning a trip to see this unique in all the world, beautiful island. You really are missing out never visiting there. Just wait a bit right now but, don't cross this nation off your list forever.

    The threat is always there, but that is not stopping me, just as we can leave our house everyday and dnt come back... Some of us is too trusting of strangers, I don't even trust my own family...Crime is a serious issue in JA. My co-worker visited JA last year and will be visiting again this year. I did explain to him to be cautious around his surroundings and where not to go....The only thng he couldn't understand was why so many Chinese and Indians owned a lot of stores in JA.. Majority of tourist doesn't even go to those areas, unless someone is from that area..We knw its a serious issue, but please continue to talk we need to know the truth.

    I don't by into the tourism industry the majority of Jamaican's don't benefit from it...I'm of the opinion most Jamaican's get more from family friends spouses who are overseas... so I don't give a hoot about the UK USA or any other foreign country advising tourist not to travel to JA...I know it will affect people in the tourist industry but the fact still remains the majority of JA citizens do not benefit from tourism...The upsurge in violent crime truly worries me so much so I have cancelled my planned visit to JA this year and am looking at going somewhere less volatile than yard...As for attributing blame to holiness I have mixed feelings about that....I blame him for putting his incompetent ass up front as a leader he has truly brought new meaning to the word incompetent.... But let's not be fooled every JA prime minster since so called independence... And I use that term tongue in cheek!!! With the possible exception of Michael Manley has been spineless....All puppets dancing on a string to our slave owners as long as they get their little pay out they don't give a damn about no so called Jamaican ... Its plain to see that bigger forces are at work in our island Paradise... I don't know if its punishment for not accepting the offer of a new prison from UK or if its JA s over all stance towards homosexuality.. Or maybe the powers that be want back their country so make people's lives so terrible in JA that everyone sell up and run away...its called re gentrification crime makes the value of land and property sell for less than its true value the right carpet bagger then buys the land for a small fee crime miraculously stops and he sell all that real estate acquired for massive profits brand new JA with rich people moving in to your neighborhood your parish which was once a no go zone #STOP THE GENOCIDE IN JA NOW

    • @donna2369
      @donna2369 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      EDZ FATZ I had to read your comment twice. It was very thought provoking and raised some valid points. You are spot on with this gentrification theory. Another had commented that persons were being driven off family land and treated as squatters so the government could sell cheap to developers such as Matalon and others. I have seen this happened in certain areas in St. Catherine. Also land prices in "prime" areas are still holding prices and trending upwards..surprisingly, they are being "gobbled" up. Persons are capitalising and benefiting from this upsurge in violent crimes. Jamaica is in the process of being rebranded ...politically, economically and demographically. This shift will be completed in another 10-15 years and will result in Jamaica being either another Haiti or a Cayman Islands. Time will tell.

      I'm done, you just hit the nail in 100%. This is the same thing they're doing in Los Angeles, Ca. The white folks are taking over the hood and coming back to buy out the properties, getting rid of the blacks. Jamaica need to wake the Eff up, they just listen to all these rubish and then don't do researches but easily to jump. I have family who move back over 25 years and yes I'm sure it's changed over the years, but it can't be that dangerous than anywhere else. So I'm with you, they just need to get people to stop been afraid and go back home and enjoy themselves, watch and see when these Chinese and other people take over the whole country over their own blacks and Jamaicans will be treated like shit in their own country,? They'll wake the hell up. I'm not running from nowhere, America, Canada , I'm all over have the same problem. People are been killed more, home invasion, kids been raped. So come on it's not Jamaica alone fi get the blame. I hate when ignorance in people make them look dumb and dumber.

      Had to read you message again, this is one of the most sensible comments I've see reading through this. I love my likkle Island. I heard it's the same thing they're trying to do to Porto Rico, the government a try run them out to take over the island so they can use it for government reason too secret. I believe the person who told me this, an old veteran who was in the top secret, a it's the same thing they want to do in Jamaica that's an island that everyone knows. Ask anyone name a carribebean county and they first place they'll say if Jamaica.

    • @sambawomen
      @sambawomen 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You hit the nail straight on the head. Where I’m from in Jamaica is becoming like Europe, white Europeans buying up the land and building amazing properties (simple and elegant with open plan clean lines, not these palatial hideous houses with pillars and 10 bedrooms resembling a wedding cake that most Jamaicans see as “money man house”) setting up an eco way of life, doing yoga everyday, setting up eco tourism retreats, and living the dream, I personally don’t see them afraid of nothing or no one in Jamaica, in fact you will never see grills on their windows and doors :)))... We had to go to court to get squatters of our property, it took a year to get the nasty low life gutter scum off our land (they were clearly being paid by a local counsel man who had his eye on our prime land), but luckily money talks in Jamaica and the system worked in our favour to send a clear message to all involved that crime does not pay (yes sometimes the law does actually work in Jamaica).
      I am very much in the know about property developments in Jamaica and anyone can see if they take the time to look, that there is a surge in modern living complexes with on site gyms, spas, pools etc, being developed all over the island, who exactly are they marketing this kind of living too? They clearly have a plan. Now personally I can’t tolerate stupid people, and I don’t really care if people like this Soulflow guy are scared to come back to Jamaica as they are seriously not needed as their mentality is, how can I put this politely, well his type equate success to “living in foreign” :)))), and it’s this mentality in Jamaica that is fuelling crime, as those people committing crime want desperately to live in foreign and have no respect for Jamaica and have no desire to own land, they just want a new pair of trainers, a fancy car and a gold chain and to live like the rappers that they see on tv in the USA , these people are literally retarded, and if I could, I would buy all of these kinds of people a one way ticket to the USA, Canada or whatever western place they deem as the land of milk and honey, so the Jamaicans who actually love Jamaica for the natural paradise that it actually is can be left to live appreciating the simple life with luxury’s like living off grid, feeding ourselves off our own land, walking around with just a pair of flip flops, working for no man, and knowing everyday that we are the lucky ones as we need nothing from no one as nature has provided all we need to sustain ourselves, and that bullshit like fancy cars and trainers mean nothing, all that matters is the land and creating a beautiful space on it to call home.

    Dem need fi get outta denial and face d facts. Jamaica is going down the drain. I love my birth island was once so proud but SouFlo I'm afraid to bring my kids there and I've been telling my parents to not go back to retire in Portmore. Go to another island that have a strong Jamaican base like the Caribbean side of Costa Rica, Bahamas, etc.... I don't want to give up on my island but I don't see it getting better until the jobs, resources, like vocational, or trade education is available to the people still living there. Also, the mental health issues need to be identified and treated. All that murder, and over-kill must be attached to some form of mental issue.

  • @garyfrass
    @garyfrass 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Step 4 usually applies if there is an embargo, civil war or extreme violence where there is no guarantee or any level of confidence that the security forces of a country can not protect its citizens visiting that named country....US/Canada/UK can even impose regional ban as the US did in mexico of the most violent states and allow travel to the ones they deem safe for their citizen to visit ...regardless of what level Jamaica finds itself the financial effect will be felt all over the island.

      Take a look around the CONTINENT OF AFRICA? Do you ever wonder why... they have not develop the real way. Including a country like Jamaica? OUR PEOPLE HAVE NO VISION. We also don't have the desire to build up a nation the right way. It's much easier to go help another country that is already develop... develop more, while your own country is stuck in a wasteland. England was built, with their citizens sending money from across the globe. Many of the patrons of these African and Caribbean countries send billions of dollars back home, yet... the countries are not moving in positive direction. It's as if nothing that people in the diaspora from Africa and Caribbean do... is making their overall country better. Because, bloodsuckers in those countries reaping the benefits instead of the entire nation.
      here is another question; Do you know where the term "THIRD WORLD" came from? Know about the World War 1 and World War 2, and you will get a picture. That picture was transform by our WORTHLESS LEADERS, who saw an opportunity fi get hands outs, instead of building their nation the way they should've been built. OUR WORTHLESS NEGRO LEADERS.... IN AFRICA, CARIBBEAN ETC. ARE THE ONES who help took a seemingly simple term that was use, FOR COUNTRIES WHO DIDN'T TOOK PART IN THOSE WARS, ...to the term that is use today, as a DEROGATORY meaning. OUR WORTHLESS CORRUPT LEADERS are 90% to be blame for that term being use the way it's being used today. Have you also notice, NO AMOUNT of money from IMF or whatever hands out countries in Africa and Caribbean receive, the countries have only gotten worst? THOSE HAND OUTS/LOANS are a build to keep the countries sinking. INFORMATION IS POWER!

I like the way u use ur platform to try and educate people who are unaware it must frustrate u sometimes so don't be discouraged. deep down we already no the outcome of this it's a take over. as the Jamaican government can't handle things they will soon bring in America to take total control as soon as the UN step in to bring "peace" its all over total destruction. we have seen this time and time again with other countries

      Mark Watson I'm not trying to fool anyone yes people get killed everywhere in the world u can't get rid of that but u can't compare America to the the small island of jamaica where the population currently stands at of aprox 2,898,677 people whether people like to hear it or not alot of people are being murdered there and u have to take in to consideration America is 895 times bigger than jamaica.

    I Praise your efforts to reach out and share the unbiased news with us.
    A plan is needed not hope! Your government must ensure governance period, and remove in the citizens mindset that illegal is just the way things go here. Strict policies and 24/7 patrolling is a must to gain back peace and remove fear so that the peoples of Jamaica may speak of the violet crimes they see and feel safe to report them to an authoritative body (police) they can trust in.
    I'm spoken to so many Jamaican's who have all admitted that they don't trust the police, the government or the justice system in Jamaica.

Statistics do not lie. I hope that perhaps in 2019 things will be better and I can return to Jamaica again. You are also correct when you state that the problem will never be solved until people like yourself stand up and begin a dialogue about the situation. The people need to work together to make a plan. Best of luck my friend - stay safe.

    I just came back from Kingston to see family for 17 days & we went to a market & I saw a tourist pregnant lady get man handled, her chains were snagged from her neck, bracelets, her pocket, even her clothes. I was so scared for the lady, their was like 4 guys on her in public, this poor white pregnant lady was with her man & her man couldn't do anything, we spoke to him and he was a country boy in Kingston with his pregnant lady, shortly after they left a Gun shot was released. Thank God I was with 3 Kingstonion locals.
    Jamaica is stunning & I would love to Go back but for my first visit I was tremendously naive.
    I was NOT expecting to see any crimes.
    Also..... the men are a bit to sexually aggressive with women NOT ALL but some are publicly perverts, in Canada one would get a criminal record and serve time in Jail just for expressing sexual verbal suggestions to strangers.
    After 2 days of being their I understood why my family wouldn't let me wonder alone, I was like a child, my family from Kingston didn't let me even call a private taxi so i can go to the local beach !!!!
    I thought... you guys are extreme..... But I gave it a few more days & I caught on.
    I hope things change for the Good, I would live in Jamaica.
    My family took me around everywhere, I visited and stayed in 5 perished & I'm in love 🇯🇲❤️🇯🇲
    I love Jamaica, I've been back a week now & I'm booking my next trip

    I use to teach in JA about 10 years ago but some of the things I saw in the classroom was scary. For one, the type of music we exposed our children to, the gang mentally, the indiscipline among some parents as we could not correct students without some parents becoming rude, aggressive ir threatening.
    A lot of what we are seeing in terms of the callouness of this generation is a bi product of those years ago just brewing going unchecked by previous governments. I saw it coming because as I said I taught some of those students and what I foresaw was scary I decided to leave my beautiful home country to live in a another country not because of greed but because of safety. After a while safety does play on your peace of mind especially when you become a parent.
    I know many will agree with me but I know that some dance hall artist such an impact on the mindset of our people but just selfishly used their talent for quick gains and to to uplift and educate the nation. I saw innocent students' behaviour changed as a result of what was happening on some of the little mini buses plus how some of the type of mothers raising their children deeply troubled me so I tried to do what I could for 8 years but when I had a family of my own I thought that their are certains things I could not protect my children from so I had to leave. I wish I felt safe to return to JA to contribute meaningfully but too terrified!
    What I am saying is that some of the issues occuring now are years of neglect with social values and our sense of morality being eroded over time with very little being done. So now the pot has run over which is what I think is happening where everyone is panicking!

    SouFloTV .....I'm proud of you for standing up and telling the truth..... I'm from the USA and I can remember dreaming of living in Jamaica. These days, I wouldn't step foot on Jamaican soil because you hear of so many tourists being raped, robbed, or murdered over there. Our movies used to depict Jamaica as being a beautiful fun paradise where it was a beautiful tropical place to live and have a fun never ending vacation. Our Government may be corrupt (I think all Governments are), but our laws here in the USA are upheld and murder can be punishable by death and rape and armed robbery can be punishable by life in prison. Much love to Jamaica from the USA. It's a shame to hear that it's becoming a crime spree due to lawlessness.

    I have been to Jamaica many times. I have lots of hard working wonderful friends there. Love the country and owe a lot to my friends there who helped me after I had many deaths in my family in one year. I want to go back again and I'm struggling with myself over it now because even my friends there are telling me not to go right now. This is so very sad. People it just doesn't need to be this way. I have never stayed in a walled-up resort during any of my trips there. Always travel around the countryside, try to make sure I use local businesses to support the local economy. I'm Canadian. Trust me if someone like me who is a die-hard Jamaica supporter is thinking maybe I should not go, then those who are casual visitors are not going to do it. I have a son here in Canada to think of and to be honest, I don't have a ton of money for vacation and who goes on vacation wanting to feel like they have to be in super protection mode? God help Jamaica. My heart goes out to the Jamaican people who aren't just visiting this crime world but, have to live it every day. It's time for the government of Jamaica to really do something not just talk about this!

    My brother am from St.Lucia and I have been saying this for a very long time now we need to have a zero tolerance for crime period and a very harsh punishment for those who commit crimes the entire Caribbean need to take notice all of us are now dependent on tourism.....family lets not kid ourselves our government isn't the answer we are we need to get back to the old days when communities took care or communities there was a time where no wrong could have gone unpunished but since we have left the morality that keep us respectful of not only ourselves but of others we now see the final outcome of our ungodly behavior that has been growing our years....our politicians job has always been to divide us which divides our families then our communities then our churches violence has nothing to do with ones lack of means family allow no one to have you point the finger we came for nothing remember we are the salt of the earth we are the ones that built the world the our ancestors died so we could not only have a better life but they instilled in us values that no college degree can give my people we are the only race that given the opportunity will tear each other apart Bob said it best emancipate yourself from mental slavery non but ourselves can free our mind it's about time we take responsibility for ourselves and hold those in our communities responsible until we do so we will be doom as a people it seems as if we are the only race that refuses to remember out history so we wouldn't repeat it.....let it be known we all are responsible for the greatness of our homes our communities and our churches no outside force can overcome us with evil when we as a people hold each other accountable for that which is good and promote it in our everyday lives yes our politicians have failed us so have our artists who in their own way have divided us with music sowing seeds of separation reggae artist and others also have divided us to many of us are sheep and are quick to become followers rather than think for ourselves why does it matter if an artist is from Kingstown or Portmore or wherever family we all are one our only interest should always be to leave our communities our islands a better place than we found it until that time we will self destruct

    This is very true. I am a Canadian-Jamaican. The murder rate is quite high no matter which party form government. Jamaica is a beautiful country! I think about it from time-to-time because I grew up there. I would disagree with this because the only sector in Jamaica that is doing very well is Tourism. I would love to go back to Jamaica and live, but the problem with the Jamaican society is the crime. The nurse should not be killed like that since she was just a nurse and not involved in any thing. The couple in St. Thomas were murdered in their home. I would not encourage any one not to go.

More time it's family that set you up out of envy & jealously because you are ambitious and live good...so life blesses you with a prosperous & fruitful life which make these evil dutty minded jan-crows sit their watching you with the deepest hatred.

    We must remember that we are the children of Israel. Haile SELASSIE himself visited Jamaica and told us of the promise land which is shashamane. It is our own fault if sodom and gomara burns to the ground and we turn to salt for looking back. I grew up in Portland Oregon since I was one, adopted by white Christians. I'm half Mexican half black, never new my real mother never knew my real mother but still I found my truths in Bob marleys music. His music lead me to Haile SELASSIE. I remember when I was around 19, I had become burned out on bobs music because I listened to it all the time, that's when Bob told me "it's time to turn of the radio and pick up the bible and chant the psalms of King David". In my youth Bob Marley was like my big brother and he lead be forward to the Father & Lion King! We must forward to Zion and keep the light shinning! Babylon is burning like the days of old, all is vanity but Jah is Forever, We are the lost children of Israel, USA JA Canada EVERWHERE Jah know....so don't worry Rasta hold the faith!🦁❤️💛💚

    These youths that do these things must be put to death, if the government won't the citizens must, enforce justice. I bet these killings will stop, especially when they muder the elderly, children, and women. This something the government must take very seriously, you cannot allow these criminals to continue, but I wish the best for Jamaica. Jamaica is a tiny country, for the amount of killings. A crime plan is necessary,
    or else!

  • @Jamerican28

    The answer to your question is no for me because things don't seem to be getting better crime wise. However things like these sometimes get worse before they get better as you combat the problem. Thanks for your video. I'm an American with some Jamaican ties from marriage. I've been going since my junior year of college in 1999. I've been all over the island and generally never had any major issue. A lot of Americans like to travel to Jamaica with me so they can see everyday ordinary Jamaican life outside of the resort areas. I've taken groups ranging from 4-20 people several times and most loved it. Up until now I would always recommend telling other tourists to get off the resorts and interact with Jamaican people. I encourage them to patronize vendors and restaurants outside the tourist areas. These murders are beginning to worry me. I'm from the Detroit area which has its own problem with violent crime so I'm not looking down on anyone but no one wants to use their hard earned money to go vacation somewhere and be potentially robbed or killed. Particularly the spots mentioned in Mo Bay really concern me. Mo Bay is the main port city for tourists. I hope it can be resolved because at this point I don't want to be responsible for groups of people on their first trip to Jamaica when I know there is the potential of harm coming to them. I've long known that most crime in Jamaica generally is non tourist related but these recent killings of Canadians are just very troubling to me. It seems too many youths have absolutely no value on human life.

    It is so sad to see what's happening in our beautiful land Jamaica and the government just sits there and do nothing but boast about tourism but with the horrible things happening back home tourism will soon fail what will we do.
    Businesses will be closing and many citizens will be out of a job.
    I pray for my Island home Jamaica.
    God bless.
