    I'm so tired of the sassy stereotypes that ALL black women are forced in. There are quiet and delicate black women. It's so sad. When I met people, they want to meet the stereotype not me. Thank you for shedding a light on this issue.

      Blacks as a whole always have to fight harder for everything. As we know it's simply because of our skin color. Then being a black woman, we really have to fight harder. What "people" see as sassy, is really a fighting spirit. We aren't allowed to be delicate enough.

      With all do respect. This is off subject.... But whatever you are going through.... God knows all the details and spiritual battles to serve Him in a fallen world. (He means every word of psalm 23) You and your sister belong to God... And He wants you to live a holy life.... Repent of any sin weather great or small from any time in your life.... God is moving in the spirit and He is calling his people from all walks of life great and small..... I have had a couple of crazy dreams about you through the years and I know it's God grace and mercy keeping you..... Remember who you belong to. I know you have a lot of people Praying for you and God is calling His people to holiness..... He is about to move things around in the spirit and He wants his people ready according to His standard not the world. Be encouraged in the Lord. He loves you more than humanly possible 💕🙏 ...... Please remember we are in a spiritual battle concerning eternity..... Btw may God continue to keep and protect you and open doors of the enemy be closed in Jesus name Amen🙏

    Watching Sister, Sister was one of the shows that made me want to become an actress. After HS I tried to get into the scene, but the competition was fierce, and without the funds and transportation, even worse. Now as a mom of two, I fell like that ship has sailed and like I missed out on my dream. But watching the success of my favorite actresses makes me happy, especially minority actresses. ❤

    I completely respect what you've been through and how hard you had to work. The only thing is I don't see why there is a issue with calling biracial women biracial. As a dark skin black woman I've also experienced many of the issues you are talking about but we have to acknowledge that there is a difference in treatment between biracial women and black women (especially those of a darker complexion). For a long time in Hollywood biracial and light skin women were the main representation for black women. Acknowledging the harsher reality that is placed on dark skin women doesn't take away from any biracial or light skin woman's experience.

      Colorism is real. I know it. You know it. Tia knows it. etc... that's not what this video was about. This video talked about her experience as a black girl growing up in the movie industry. We know that different shades get treated from less bad to real bad... but the point is that we all get treated bad. Yes, she is biracial (black and white). The world, and especially, the movie industry never saw her as white. She is allowed to claim her "black" side just as much as any darker-skinned woman. Who are we to tell someone what is offensive or not? Black comes in all shades.

    • @lisacox3750
      @lisacox3750 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      H J...she knows what she is. I know you think your comment is helpful, but it doesn't acknowledge reality or history at all. I can tell Tia (having a dark skin black mother) is very aware of the treatment of black woman vs biracial. She is not pretending to deny this. Tia and I are around the same age (though I don't know her personally) so I feel like I can speak to this. When we were growing up...there was no distinction for biracial (if you were mixed with black and white). Being mixed with black and white was the worse thing ever to society. Society hated black people that much. They hated them so much that they felt that if you were a white person that had a child with a black person that automatically tainted the white blood...so you couldn't claim half white. You would be just seen as black. You were not treated any differently.
      Biracial people didn't get special treatment (maybe in some circumstances) but for the most part they weren't treated differently or better. I knew plenty of biracial people growin up (family friends and in my own family) and they were just black. Referring to yourself as biracial wasn't even a thought. Everyone saw them the same and they saw themselves as the same...especially if the mother was black. Usually, biracial people are socialized black when they have black mothers. In some cases, the white fathers abandoned the kids anyway...so that's all people knew were their black side. Tia is from that era. It's more of a Gen Z thing now where people want to claim every little thing they are. That's a very new concept. I don't anticipate Tia changing how she sees herself. She knows who she is and how she identifies..she's been doing it for 43 years. I think she is fine.

The things my partner tells me about growing up black in the same place I grew up, well among other things it makes me scared for if we ever have children, oh and the stories from some of my Asian girlfriends too, its absolutely heartbreaking and disgusting. I was taught as a kid that you treat others how you want to be treated yourself and with Tv like this honestly I just never thought much about their appearance other than they were beautiful, I wanted their clothes and why didn't my curly hair wasn't as nice as theirs haha. They were girls my age, and the show was smart and funny and relatable.

    Facts or undeniable facts?...it's great that Tia is talking about this as how one grows up definitely shapes up part of your personality as an adult. And having children it will make you realise how strategic you have to be to ensure they are well balanced...etc

    When he watches your work, maybe your son is looking for the "version" of you that he recognizes and so your more recent projects resonate more with him right now? Once he gets older, he'll be more curious about you and your sister's lives before motherhood and he'll appreciate being able to go back and see the older stuff.

    Thank you for sharing this with us. So many people had no clue of the privilege they were afforded. I'm sure whoever did your show didn't charge a black discount for the commercials we watched waiting to tune into your show! These things are so sad. I remember getting paid $1 less per hour and HR thought I'd was ok because it was a man. I should have quit right then. We have to take pride and take up for ourselves. We love you Tia! 💪🏼💪🏾💪🏽💪🏿❤️😘

    I used to dream about being on tv as a kid in the 90s and I still to this day look up to you and your sister. I’m finally pursuing my dreams later in life as an adult. Sometimes I wish I started sooner, but I’m grateful regardless because God is always on time. Who knows if I could’ve handled being an actor at such a young age. I admire you and your sister for persevering, being great and not letting the naysayers get you down.
