I think you should say you are BIracial & bicultural. "Mexican + black" statment said that white Europeans are the default in Mexico. This is false. Spanish is a European language; foreign to these shores as English = all immigrants History states: there would be no Mexico without black people. blacks won the war against spain to setup Mexico. The 1st mexican president was black. 90% of all slave ship docked in Mexico so even BLACK American roots came from Mexico. we need to move forward with correct truths in the future
cinnamonstar808 majority of Mexicans are Native American and white. Blacks are a very small minority. Come to California most look like white people with dark hair.
I don't even know why you put this out! You making to much out of this, when in reality you no-racial people always had it easier, from slavery to now. A whole lot has not changed. The sad thing about it is how our own black people seem to gloat and adore light- skinned women, especially in the media. And In also notice how the magazine and advertisement is leaning toward the ugliest and blackest "real African." Although I know there have seen the most gorgeous African features that used to be in magazines. They basically do not even show African American models anymore! Is this some kind of back lash? As if to imply, "So, you want black?" Then, we'll give you the most ugliest blacks we can find!" So, stop it! We know what the industry is up to! And it is highly disrespectful and racist!
elizabeth brown lmao what the hell are you talking about. I said I didn’t know they were biracial either. They are very phenotypically black, meaning they have strong black features. 🤦🏽♀️ not that they’re not mixed
Like many shows today with mixed actresses, they seem to give them more same color patents and avoid that truth. (KC Undercover is one I remember from Disney.

I’m not biracial but I can relate in a way being Ethiopian born in Ethiopia and raised here in the U.S by foreign parents. I’ve always felt different and didn’t know where to fit in growing up in two cultures. It’s always nice to hear from others that have experienced similar struggles. Thank you for sharing this with us.💕
Tia thanks so much for sharing your story! I can relate in so many ways, as I am biracial. My father is white and my mother is black. I definitely experienced many of he same things you did growing up! Like you said "LOVE HAS NO COLOR" and my parents endure a lot of crazy things choosing each other, but they are still happily married after 31 years together!
I am biracial too. The difference is, I am very light skinned. My daughters (5 & 6 and also very light) asked why my dad had different colored skin than us. Thinking quickly, I said, because if we all looked the same, the world would be a dull, colorless place.
I really enjoyed this video. Having honest open conversations about difficult subjects is hard to do and with a child it must be even harder. Your parents raised you a beautiful woman Tia. Sending love from the U.K.
Tia, it’s a blessing you had the parents you did and that they showed love to each other and to you kids. I see a lot of inner turmoil in biracials who grow up with one parent or parents who aren’t together and showing that interracial love.

I'm so glad that she is highlighting this point. My white friends and my white husband has never been told how to behave when dealing with police officers. Black men really do have a different experience.
@Lucid Dreamer you are right, that's it! just be respectful & follow the officer's directions; keep ur hands on the wheel, hand over license if asked, skip the profanity, etc. it's common sense! i'm Latina & I've always known this. yes, enough with this racial divide, just stop it people!!!
uhhh sorry april thats bs i was taught at a young age how to respect authority etc and to this day still get nervous if pulled by a cop and im a vet so dont go there cuz everyone i know grew up that way
@Lucid Dreamer she's talking about the difference in conversation. White people might talk to their kids about police but their race doesnt tie into it. Black people have to talk to their kids about police AND their race and how to interact with the police as a BLACK person.
Thank you so much for sharing this, Tia. It brought tears to my eyes when you mentioned that Cree said he was afraid of the cops. It’s so sad that he feels like that. only thing is blacks are just as racist or more racist than whites. just take a look at hate crimes in america. as well in todays world there is a lot of racism towards whites because of what other people did in the past.

Thank you for sharing Tia, you're so inspirational ❤❤
The fact that your Dad loved her so much that he followed her? Wow. Their love story is priceless 💜 Okay I got soo teary when you started talking about your son! Thank God both you & your son immediately told your parents what was said to you guys & was able to get advice & feel safe! It shows how great of parents you have + you and hubby are that as your son (and you as a child) was so open to go speak to your parents, as ur son did as well 💜 Love this video!

Tia, I have a gorgeous 22 year old biracial son who’s always been proud of his black/white Spanish background because I always taught him that GOD made all of us unique and beautiful like all the flowers, we all come in different colors, different shapes, different mixtures, and in the end we all belong to his garden because we are his creation. I honestly believe that racism is synonymous of ignorance, lack of values, education and love. 🌹
By Spanish you mean from Spain right
It's always beautiful hearing your story and to hear you share about your experiences. Love truly is the most powerful thing!! Your parents proved that!! I love how your mom is a descendant of the Bahamas... God bless you!
From one mixed girl to another- you’re rocking it! We love you Tia!
Tia's Father was really a cool good looking guy back then .

Back then love was extremely strong and this is the type of I looked for and found. It seems to be so rare to find love that very unconditional and true.
I bawled when you talked about your dad following your mom into the Army. Love. It's so beautiful.
Tia, honestly when I saw the title I thought "Oh, an attention seeking video". However, when I started to watch the video, I was encapsulated by the beauty and love of your parents story and also ashamed of how racism shaped and affected many of your family's experiences. I truly apologize for prejudging and being ignorant before even watching. I realize how attitudes like this just adds to those negative experiences. So thank you for helping me to check my own biases that I didn't realize that I had. You matter and help make a greater difference than you know. Thank you for sharing and again, please forgive me.
I swear the title doesn't deserved this video! The content is great!
Shouldn't have prejudged.
@@lisacox3750 it's something that we do naturally, apparently as you are doing by being passively aggressive and judgmental at the same time with your response. I actually checked myself, so your comment is really unnecessary. Thanks anyway.
So important ! I am biracial Mexican and black and I have a very extended family my step mom is actually white and my dad is black and I have seen discrimination of ridiculous heights towards my farther it’s so important influencers talk about their experiences with race! Thank you!
I think you should say you are BIracial & bicultural. "Mexican + black" statment said that white Europeans are the default in Mexico. This is false. Spanish is a European language; foreign to these shores as English = all immigrants
History states: there would be no Mexico without black people.
blacks won the war against spain to setup Mexico.
Sister Sister was such a big part of my childhood. It’s great watching your videos all these years later
I grow up biracial with a black and white family and I can say I've had problems of identity and race in my home But I' was loved And respected
Being loved and respected is very important!

May OUR god continue to bless the union of their MARRIAGE that he bonded together!!! Blessing 😊

It really makes me think just how different it is in the US and how thankful I am to live in Aus.
I remember seeing the twins on TV and it was the first time I had seen myself reflected on tv. My mom is Black, and my dad is White, my sister is a year younger than me, and people called us twins. When sister sister came out people started calling us Tia and Tamera. Love y’all!
Your parents story is beautiful... I've always loved you and Tamera growing up..
😭 this spoke to my biracial heart. I saw a lot of racism when people looked at my parents. Of course I had my own experiences but seeing how they were looked at taught me a lot.
I'm so glad that she is highlighting this point. My white friends and my white husband has never been told how to behave when dealing with police officers. Black men really do have a different experience.
And black women...
April Underwood you stated the obvious that has been going on for centuries. We all know this already,
@Lucid Dreamer you are right, that's it! just be respectful & follow the officer's directions; keep ur hands on the wheel, hand over license if asked, skip the profanity, etc. it's common sense! i'm Latina & I've always known this. yes, enough with this racial divide, just stop it people!!!
uhhh sorry april thats bs i was taught at a young age how to respect authority etc and to this day still get nervous if pulled by a cop and im a vet so dont go there cuz everyone i know grew up that way
@Lucid Dreamer she's talking about the difference in conversation.
It’s also such a REAL feeling for him to have in today’s society. You and Cory are doing a great job with him. Your parents story is so romantic. Your dad really pursued your mom no matter what. It's crazy to think that anyone would have a problem with that. You and your sister have always been people I looked up to as a teen. I grew up watching your show and I don't ever remember thinking, "Wonder if their parents are both black or black and white?" I have a friend from elementary school who is biracial. Again, I never thought anything of it. She was my friend. She was a true friend when many others weren't. When we got older she shared a couple of her experiences with me of feeling like you did where the white girls didn't want her cause she was too white and the black girls wouldn't claim her cause she was too white.
