When one divides 9/8 for name Kevin, and then divides 12/8 for Detroit, how do you get the last remainder as 1 and 4 respectively? Please clear this, For which I will be very grateful.

you have to take remainder NOT the dividend. In your case 4 MODULAS 8 = 4. and 5 MODULAS 8 = 5. MODULAS is Math operation in software terms. Hope this helps. For you name with "A" and city "K" is good

He is talking about remainder. Compare the remainder of name vs place.
