    Story is set in South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
    The action you asked (cracking knuckles on the side of the head) is done by elders generally grandmothers or mothers to ward off bad energy.
    For eg if a someone sees a cute kid they will run the hands on the kid's face and th3n crack the knuckles. To ward off bad/negative energy from the kid. This in my experience is predominantly practiced in southern India.

      You can just say Indian state! No need to add North South East West...
      And that action is very much prevalent in many other parts of India.

      @@aakankshayadav5945 well if this was an Indian channel I wouldve said Andhra and they would've understood. Since this is an American channel and they don't know where the different states are located, that's the reason for mentioning south Indian state.
      And it's just a way of speaking. Nothing wrong in mentioning the area of the country. 👍

      @@aakankshayadav5945 isn't southern India a part of India? stop being a snowflake and harden up. nobody has to clarify if its India... the word southern "India" it self states that it's a part of India. this is not kashmir or north east... we take pride in being Indians. you don't need to remind us and take care of your own god damn business.

    That action with the fingers -
    There's a superstition that when someone sees a person who is so smart or beautiful or has anything else that brings out an envy, they leave an eye on the person who is smart or beautiful. This action is the final gesture of a small ritual that is performed on the person that is smart or beautiful to get rid of all the eyes left on him/her. The action signifies that they are now free of all envy. The ritual is usually performed by someone very close (family)

  • @IndianMonk94
    @IndianMonk94 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    The Gesture you're asking about is called "Nazar Na Lage" in hindi, which means "May god protect you from evil eyes".
    It is good wishes, especially towards kids or young people, to protect them from people who envy about their appearance, deeds or wealth. Generally speaking. Its a broader concept tbh.
    Mostly movies show Moms do it towards their kid.

The classic way is that "They do that and they press their knucles to their temple and pop their fingers!" But here that hero is imagining heroine in mind and doing that palm gesture. And BTW she was taking bath. As this was happening in some back dated according to story in the movie. Villagers don't have proper basic requirements. So they do prepare walls with those leaves and they take bath .

    The director for this film was also the director of pushpa. In all of his stories the heros are orphans, and he’s giving his heros disabilities. In this movie he is deaf, and in pushpa his shoulder has a defect. Also the review was really really good. You should also watch goodachari. I remember you reacting to the trailer, but its a great movie. Thats all have a great day. =)
