Robert Bateman was one of the first artists I discovered as a kid. I came across his art book in my public library, and was instantly mesmerized by his work, and he's greatly influenced my own wildlife art. The thing I like most about his art is that it makes you want to go out in nature and experience the rawness of the wild. -Ernie, "A rabble-rousing revolutionary from the south of the border." ;)
Robert Bateman was one of my first childhood artistic inspirations as well. We had a coffee-table book of his art that I would often flip through and marvel at. It was a great honour to meet him and work on this video of his life in art.
@@AzaraEffectProd I have all his books, big and small! They are prized positions! Went to many of his openings and exhibitions at galleries, in 80's and 90's. He is a true gentleman as well as a great artist. His influence on my art can not be overemphasized. I do plein air landscapes in oil now but always enjoy looking at my early work on wildlife paintings in acrylic in the "Bateman style".
Bob, it was when you came into Mill Pond Press that I learned of your beautiful art. I love wildlife and especially birds. It was a great honor to meet you through the years and our correspondence and meetings in Eugene, OR and Vancouver, B.C. You influenced my art and became friends. I write this on May 21, 2020 And wish you a very Happy 90th birthday on Sunday May 24th 2020. Hope you and Birgit are doing well. Sandy Giles...Harrisburg, OR
You're welcome - I'm glad you like the video. You'll have to go to the Bateman Foundation Gallery of Nature in Victoria and see some of his work in person. It's amazing to see the paintings up close and at scale.
