Being worth £27bn and trying to avoid paying £20m in tax is the same as having £2700 in your bank account and trying to dodge a £2 tax. The greed of billionaires and politicians in the UK at the expense of everyone else knows no bounds.

    • @pagatryx5451
      @pagatryx5451 2 ปีที่แล้ว +47

      Yes but also no...
It doesn't excuse their behaviour in the slightest, but I know that a £2 tax might lose me what? An expensive coffee? While, even if I was obscenely rich, I think you would still understand that that £20m tax is the equivalent to quite a lot more than a coffee.
People perceive what they are losing in accordance to what they could use it on otherwise. Even if you have no shortage of money, I think it would still hit harder. I mean, I know that. It doesn't feel good when your tax goes up when you start earning more, even though you are still earning more than before.
I'm not trying to defend them. Anything but. But it's important to look at them realistically and not as villainous caricatures because, at the end of the day, even if they were ALL replaced, these issues will definitely still occur. It's important to prevent people from being able to do it in the first place. Not presume that the individual is the sole issue. Of course, they should still lose their jobs. But it's just important to keep in mind in my opinion.

@@pagatryx5451 I think you miunderstood OP's point a little here. Also; who's ever going to be able to *spend* that much money? I mean, without purposefully wasting it... paying for things that they actually use? I couldn't. I'm not sure ANYONE could... so how does that lost spending power "hurt"?

    • @nicholasblomfield8594

It is actually the equivalent of dodging 0.0020p worth of tax on £2700 which is signficantly more scandalous and disreputable. The man that makes the tax rules, breaks the tax rules and even more surprising everyone just accepts it. Corruption wrapped up in an overt middle finger to everyone in the face of pure unadulterated lies and the Brexit knife still fresh and twisting in the economy.

@@pagatryx5451 but considering you've still got over £26bn sat in your bank account, how quickly would you get back that £20m in interest? Even if it doesn't you've still go more than you could EVER possibly live on. You couldn't spend it. Think of it as a percentage of your income. Each month I lose atlease a 3rd in tax. I'm expected to pay my share. The money we put it is nothing compared to them, it's probably their champagne bill with their brunch. It's about equality and every person equally contributing to the society.

This law of being able to live in the UK, make use of the facilities in the UK that were paid for by the UK taxpayer, whilst not having to pay taxes yourself is ridiculous.
Here in the Netherlands you pay taxes when you are here. If you earn money you pay income tax, if you have wealth, you pay property tax. Even tourists pay taxes.

A billion is a number with two distinct definitions: • 1,000,000,000, i.e. one thousand million, or 10⁹, as defined on the short scale. This is now the meaning in all English dialects. • 1,000,000,000,000, i.e. one million million, or 10¹², as defined on the long scale. This is one thousand times larger than the short scale billion, and this number is now normally referred to as one trillion.

Every decision they make is carefully considered to provide the best opportunities for the Brtish people especially the poor, vulnerable and disabled. They always do their utmost to help the elderly, especially during the winter and provide safe care homes for them in which to spend their final years. They never abuse their power by selling Britain out to the highest bidder, they never give their donors and friends overpriced contracts at the taxpayer's expense. They are the most moral, dependable servants of the country and always put everyone else above their own interests. It's indeed a pleasure and a privilege to be governed by such altruistic, philanthropic humanitarians, with such integrity, compassion and honour. I'm on a salary of £39k - not bad, but not rolling in it either. My monthly basic is about £3400, but from that is deducted £340 for pension (I've just been told our retirement income has been slashed by an average of 38% though we've never paid more into it), £400 for PAYE, £266 for NI, £122 for student loan, and £150 for council tax (I live in a one-bedroom flat and get a single-person discount). I've been quoted another £150 a month for water, gas, and electricity and I pay another £50 for broadband and a wokr gym membership. That works out at just under £1500 a month before I've paid a penny on rent, which in my case is £680, bringing my overall monthly outgoings to £2,216. Add food and drink at £150 p/week and you have £584 of savings per month. I need at least £40k to get on the housing ladder and stop renting, which will take me five and a half years at this rate. And I am considered to be well off when compared to most. This country is going to the dogs and I'm doing what I can to leave it, for good.

Rishi Sunaks wife: Non Dom, making huge gains on dividends from Infosys, her father's company. The largest IT consultancy in India who have won a LOT of contracts in the UK, quite a few government contracts included.
Rishi Sunak himself: as chancellor, ignores multiple requests for IR35 "reform" because it's ill conceived and won't actually do what it's designed to do. This is discussed in house of commons by multiple MPs. Rishi passed it anyway, really went to town ignoring questions and rushed it through. It has been an abject failure and doesn't do what was required 20% of the time or more it can't even achieve a ruling. What it *did* do - was put a huge number of self employed UK IT consultants out of business, changing the game for recruiters, clients, and those self employed consultants. This removed a large chunk of competition for Infosys in one fell swoop. Directly contributing to increased dividends for Rishis wife, you know the ones she's not paying tax on ?.

@@fujohnson8667 You have to understand that a particular sector in our society believe in Pain and Suffering as redemptive. So in inflicting it to those who need motivation and direction in their lives, they are doing it with patriotism and love. Britain to be great again must rediscover discipline and become inured to suffering. Only then will its people make a country worthy to be "great". Every blow they ply on the people they believe will strengthen their resolve and Courage. And, they trust you will thank them and respect them for it later. They believe this is what you want, and what you need, and you will be better for it. And those who don't survive weren't strong enough, and and its their fault for being weak and useless. Austerity part 1, has been estimated to have hastened the demise of 120,000 people in ill-health and poverty under the Conservatives in just 10 years. Now, they have ushered in Austerity part 2, alongside shirking any responsibility for safely dealing with the pandemic. 1 in 5 working people are on benefits and people are hundreds of people are still dying over the seasonal average. The airports are shut, and shortages are everywhere. You live in a country where people are so neglected, they starve to death, found dead weeks later, and politicians don't want to feed children. When are people going to get mad? Or are we beyond that? Have we become so atomised and cut off from reality, that we didn't understand that the pain and punishment applied to the least of us, would be visited on us? 120,000, plus 150,000 from Covid, plus how many more? Life expectancy had gone down in the years before Covid, but our appetite for pain and punishment seems unabated yet.

How truth is concealed as comedy these days...gets me...so if you see it called a comedy skit...its bound to be a truth rant...brilliantly said as always...

I really love the Easter egg in the video! the building in the background with the bricked up windows was the old way of avoiding paying property tax back when it was based on the number of windows rather than something like house size.....

Imagine being born in a country, going to school, getting a job, working for over 40 years (paying taxes on everything and your National Insurance) .... Only to reach retirement and you've got the choice of either buying food or turning the heating on. What has this country turned into?
