Looks like such a nice pen! 🤩 I was interested in the 74 and 743, but jumped straight into the 823 because I loved the amber brown colour. I was a bit worried it was overhyped as well, but I love it 🥹
I can't wait to try out fountain pens at some point, it seems really fun. Have you received your Hobonichi order and will you do an unboxing? My first order just arrived last Thursday and I loved all the items and it was my first time getting an A5 cousin and the size is so tempting although I know it's going to be too big, but I'm going to use it for something else not as a planner or a journal and hopefully it will work. Plus, I got the freebie that I wanted. Hoping to receive my tragen this week which is ver exciting because I can use it right away with my A6.

It's so hard to be patient this year especially seeing all the lovely unboxings from everyone. I was tempted to make a second order 😂 I'm glad you enjoyed what you ordered and that you already received yours! The Tragen is a great cover. I also bought an A5 Hobonichi notebook. Can't wait to share details next week when I hopefully receive my order 😊
Congratulations on your purchase of the Pilot Custom 74. The Custom 74 has a neutral writing feel without any quirks, so it is very easy to use. In Japan, it is also recommended as a model for those who are using a gold nib fountain pen for the first time. In my personal opinion, I prefer the 1911, which conveys a delicate touch and a pleasant scratch.
I’ve been using it quite a lot and it certainly is growing on me! I still have the Diamine ink in it and it’s so smooth and the nib is pretty wet. Definitely a big difference from the 1911s. I see myself using both interchangeably. Of course Sailor always will have a sweet spot in my heart. You are so right in describing the Custom 74 as having a neutral writing feel.
Ahhhhh I love the Custom 74! I have 2 already! I might buy another one. I would love to buy the Forest Green which is a US exclusive but not sure if it's available. I wish they would release an amber version for the 74 similar to the 823

What's up Tiffany! I've been curious about a couple Pilot customs myself but still haven't pulled the trigger. OK wait I just got distracted by these two big leaves in my face! 🥰🥰 What are those? Ok so this pen is a soft fine medium, yet I looks stiff when you are writing. Did it flex at all? In other news, I got my 9/2 order from Hobonichi and the cafe au lait cover is very nice. And my HON fits in it. Nice choice on your part. I guess next year I'll just be lazy and follow your channel to victory. 🤣🤣🤣💜
@@robbourne1950 Hi Rob, good point..I should have mentioned..soft-fine-medium does not mean it's a flex nib. It just identifies it as a softer nib. I do notice that it gives more "flex" than my other gold nibs. The leaves are just there for deco 🙂 and to distract you. Glad you received your hobonichi! I haven't received mine yet. Glad to hear you like the cafe au lait! I think people have been liking this cover overall so I'm looking forward to seeing it in person. And wow, the HON fits?! That's amazing. ❤️
Pretty pen and you’re right about that ink, it’s also very pretty! Are happy with your writing? If not, may I respectfully suggest writing a bit slower, so you can concentrate on the shape of each letter a bit more. I know though, sometimes it’s just dash it off, and forget about anything but getting it down on paper. 😅
Haha, yes I usually like to write fast but I will try it slowly. I think I’ve noticed more ink flowing out when I write slower which makes perfect logically sense. It also looks good that way. Loving the pen actually.
İ love my custom 74 it's currently one of my favourites. But I think it is always just personal preference, everyone is different and has different tastes.... For me, I think my sailors are so smooth with a hint of feedback and soft, they have bounce. But I hear everyone say they are hard and so much feedback..... But that gas nit been my experience... And they are my favourite brand and the pens I reach for the most, they are perfect for me 🫶🏻
You’re absolutely right! I love that slight bounce on my sailor nibs. I don’t feel much bounce on the custom 74 nib although it is very smooth. The custom 74 is a very nice pen but the sailor nibs are just a bit (or a lot) more extra special!
