I love how intimate this is. i wish the audio and video quality was better, but on the other hand i feel so lucky this was recorded at all and that the recording survived and was made available
Organizing is a give and take. A process of understanding. A learning to listen to other's points of view...while seeking to build unity around some common goals and uplifting values ...Kwame was teaching by facilitating a reasonable discussion and adding his two cents from his experience to guide the discussion. Loved when he said we are here for more than just survival we are here to contribute our talents and contribute to the fullness of life's possibilities...we don't live by bread alone.
This is the greatness of Kwame Ture to work with our people on every level no matter how large or small the audience, on the street, in Africa, in the South of America, Northern cities, anywhere in the world, and in the church! His work will only be appreciated in generations to come!
OMG this video is packed with so much wisdom on organizing. Here i am in 2021 listening and watching a video made in the mid to late 70's. As I watch, & listen over & over, over, over, over again.. I am learning so much. I know God is preparing me to go out in the vineyard. & work.
This literally got my brain turning with thoughts about what it means to be organized. A lot of these thoughts have never even occured to me. Kwame deserves so much respect for being able to get a room to focus like this. I can only hope to inspire a 1/4 of the people he has.
i know Im asking the wrong place but does someone know a way to log back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb forgot my login password. I love any tips you can give me!
Very true. I think these words like ‘organizing’, coalition building’ and ‘unity’ have become so convoluted they have lost their meaning. Every now and again we need a reminder of what it is we’re striving to achieve.
he said we are in a church and if you don't believe in God you can leave. that made the most sense he said you must first start on a foundational belief. 40:43
Saw his presentation at Metropolitan State College (University), Denver in 1986. Still true of how people are individualized under a capitalistic model where money controls the dynamic on all levels.
It’s 2021 now how many of us are willing to organize and create our own banks our own schools our own grocery stores and our own hospitals now??? Ten dollars a month who in??? Hit me
So down for this but we can do better than $10 if we're really dedicated. Cutting the fat out of our lives, i.e. unnecessary depreciating assets, foods, and ppl is the first step. I've seen too many movements be co-opted by Eurocentric Black folk for me to blindly trust ppl not willing to change the most basic and problematic issues in our communities on day 1.
If a mom can bring herself and her baby to a meeting to discuss how to organize her people, what excuse the rest of yall got to not be engaged in your people's struggle? There are no excuses. We either take our own liberation into our own hands or we can perish as a race. Join an organization fighting for our liberation. Join one today. We can no longer wait.
We are now doing exactly what he said by NOT VOTING! We are leaving the Democratic Plantation, not showing up to vote for these Bootlicks Stacy Abrams, Warnock, Harris, or listening to Sharpton!
Kwame put in tireless work for decades.
