Southwest DC - “A Right to the City” Exhibition
xcerpts from oral history interviews about the Southwest neighborhood of Washington, DC that appear in the Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum’s exhibition, “A Right to the City” (2018- 2020). In a moment of rapid population growth and mounting tensions over development, “A Right to the City” explores the history of neighborhood change and civic engagement in the nation’s capital by looking at the dynamic histories of six Washington, D.C., neighborhoods: Adams Morgan, Anacostia, Brookland, Chinatown, Shaw and Southwest. The exhibition tells the story of these communities through the eyes of the Washingtonians who have helped shape these neighborhoods in extraordinary ways. They have used their collective community power to fight for quality public education, healthy and green urban spaces, equitable development and transportation, and a truly democratic approach to city planning. “If you want revoIution, you want him thoroughly and completely alienated and dissatisfied with the system under which he lives.” -- “People think that when a man is hungry, if you’re trying to organize him and you feed that man, when you feed him you got him. No sir. No sir. If you feed him, he might fall asleep on you. When you want revolution, you want him hungry. You want him hungrier. You want him to be ready to kill. When he’s hungry, say ‘You want to eat, destroy this system, it’s the only way you can eat!’ … If you want revolution, you want him thoroughly and completely alienated and dissatisfied with the system under which he lives.” 10:23
I said 2days ago......... Africa name is going change.......... Tupe Block my words........ You Claim Africa??.......
He was beyond woke.......
This still exists! Last Sunday was amazing
Zionists will say he’s antisemetic but as a Jewish person I will tell you he is not. Free Palestine.
What is the course? How do you know the masses approved..
Tricking you into believing the masses approve is hard today. This lecture is from 1972, and the masses didn't have as easy access to information.
2024 and everything this man said is still relevant
Dr. Kwame!!!! (Stokely) was extremely intelligent!!
So sad. Smh.
I a Malcolm X Drummer.....proud to service! 1970 -2015
he said we are in a church and if you don't believe in God you can leave. that made the most sense he said you must first start on a foundational belief. 40:43
too much confrontational conversation this is the reason why we are still fighting for survival
Aman brother.
Superfly sounds like Supervisor of a seed from what Tribe
He is one of my mentors.
42:40 discussion of dialectics
impeccable
Amazing analysis and very relevant still, in 2023. Minute 19:30 was pure brilliance and a long standing epiphany; America and Russia are BOTH imperialist countries. Neither care about the world or humanity, just seeks to dominate it.
I Red His Books before meeting him In The Flesh, And when I First Heard Him Speak On PAN AFRICANISM, I UNDERSTOOD EVEN WHAT HE DIDN'T MENTION, THE OLDER HE GOT, THE LESS HE MOVED ARROUND, AND WOULD FORCE YOU TO GO FROM YOUR POINT OF VIEW, TO HIS, THEN TO YOUR OPPRESSOR'S , THEN TO THE VIEW OF OTHER PEOPLE IN STRUGGLE THEN LEAVE YOU TO PACK IT ALL TOGETHER

That interruption was the Greatest thing that happened. But all Genius isn’t recognized…
BLACK POWER
Why not bring it back
I remember in the 80s when l started going to Malcolm X there was literally only one white guy playing in the circle (there was only one). Then came gentrification and everyone got pushed out.
Would you, please, advise on how one could obtain and pay for a copy of these lectures?
Socialism and communisim cannot save us as a people, it sounds articulate however it is FUTILE. We will stay on the bottom until we keep the commandments of the Most High and accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, PERIOD. I went to an IVY LEAGUE school and I can chalk up the whole experience as useless knowledge. They used Kwame to promote the demise of civilization as described in Morals and Dogma. They must destroy this world so that Lucifer aka Satan can emerge as the God of this world however Christ will win in the end. I'm on the winning team.
Capitalism equals exploitation 🤬true 👍 it's the year 2023 and America through the federal reserve used the term inflation as a phenomenon and tool to bamboozle and gouge consumers😤this same entity said unemployment had to rise in order to bring down inflation🤨encouraging companies to fire workers, making plans to undercut salaries when they reenter the work force 😒on top of that it raised interest rates so the banking and insurance sector could have a turn at screwing citizens 😒 complete mayhem🧐 all without addressing the real culprit being corporate abuse 🤔 sick basTards tripled earnings in order to pay dividends to stakeholders 😬all at the outskirts of a global health pandemic 🤨 telling workers to jeopardize their lives for economic gains🤮but what should you expect under Jim Crow Joe Biden who participated in mass incarceration like Bill Clinton and others 🤢 slavery 2.0 and financial gang rape 😡 and a housing market on the same tip to plunder
Tha video sound is low. Thank BPP FE
America loves a good shit talkin' shine...
Maga communism
thanks i deeply appreciate.
We need more gogo clubs.
This should be made shareable. This is valuable, historical footage full of information from our ancestor, which should be shared!
We are now doing exactly what he said by NOT VOTING! We are leaving the Democratic Plantation, not showing up to vote for these Bootlicks Stacy Abrams, Warnock, Harris, or listening to Sharpton!
🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
International socialists mean communism. What is communism. Communism is )ewish rule over humans. Alexander Solzhenitsyn mentioned that Russian statisticians tried to get meaning to the mass murder of the Communist system in Russia. The chosenites killed the slavs and the Russian minorities on a scale of 1 million per year. The )ew parasite moved for the next kill to China, and took it over. Millions where destroyed physical. Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos where destroyed by the nose people. Parallel they had their strain's poured out in Africa. By taking over Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, and Angola, the parasite induced a huge mass murder rate on the black continent. He, at Howard University addressed the wrong situation.
Warhorse vs Racehorse let that sink in
How many of us belong to an organization? How many???? Few hands will go up. Too many folks think if it doesn’t involve whitey it ain’t alrighty! Individualism is the cancer that affects us as Africans. Individualism is what stops us from winning and defeating imperialism, neocolonialism and white supremacy! Remember an African worldview is based upon cornmunalism, interconnectedness, spirituality and interrelationships. As Stokely Carmichael aka Kwame Ture put it, “You had better recognize that individualism is a luxury that Black people can no longer afford. You had better begin to see yourself as a people and as a group and, therefore, you need to help to advance that group.”
Thank you for this video
