Lindy - remember men watch your videos too! After seeing you this morning I ordered the filter online and will change it in two days when it arrives. With the money I saved I bought #1 barrel swivels for fishing (although I could sure use a mani/pedi!!!) Thank you Lindy!
It took me 7 years to find out there was a filter in the glovebox. TH-cam has taught me how to change my own spark plugs it also taught me how to clean the intake with crc intake cleaner spray which is so important I used two cans two weeks apart my 2016 soul is running like it’s brand new I also change the pcv valve and will do the brakes soon. The days of the service department at the dealership ripping us humans off is over. Thank god for TH-cam.
OMG, first of all, you are just the cutest! Secondly, thank you for making this video. I just got back from getting an oil change and they told me that I needed mine changed soon and that it was going to cost $90! Thank you for giving me the confidence to do this one on my own.
Wow, really? We know that no one is forcing anyone to do any service. Secondly, I'm glad that the mechanics took the time to check that for me and gave me the option of whether I wanted them to do the service or not. I love my people at my dealership and they have been nothing but great to me. So, when is comes to major issues like engine or electrical problems, I would gladly give the mechanics my money to fix it because they have the access to the parts, the knowledge and labor that goes into a job like that. But you gonna be kidding me that you would leave rant comments like this over air filters? Dude come on! I mean they wanted to charge me $45 for a regular air filter change, which I knew from my 1993 Acura Legend was a easy DIY job. But if it wasn't for Lindy's video I would have spent all that money on something I know I can do myself. Man, I really wish you didn't leave this on my comment. I just want to express to Lindy how grateful I was for her video. But I guess you're entitled to your opinion. But I hope you realize that my opinion of you now is that you are a troll...so...good job getting your point across at least on my comment or me anyways. :)

And yet I guess this video and my comment seemed to bug you so much you felt compelled to comment on my comment and on her video. I was browsing youtube for the best way to clean a much more expensive washable cabin filter, and saw your video.. I am impressed you didn’t fall for the dealer/mechanic shakedown.. to everyone who sees this video, you can do this and change the engine air filter as well and save a lot of money..now that you have the basics down, don’t forget to change the filter every 10-15 thousand miles, they tend to get moldy in that time and the air starts to smell funky, or you can buy a K&N filter which is washable and never have to buy a filter again.. they cost around $40 and are washable
I just went thru the same ordeal with mechanics trying to charge me $100 to change 2 air filters. I looked it up on TH-cam and saved myself about $70!! And it only took about 3 minutes! You go girl!
Yes it worked really easy when you said its like the price of getting nails or feet done um heck yea it was. Thanks for the video Kia wanted over $400 for that 20 bucks waaay better than their deal.
This is empowering and I helped my daughter change her filter w this video Ty so much! “You don’t need a man, you just need more confidence “ Epic!!!! 💕✌️☀️
Pretty awesome video.🎉 I have forgotten how to remove it since spent a long time recovering from knee replacement surgeries. Back on my feet, so I needed to refresh since it's time and you were the first result. As a 33-year-old who's had rheumatoid arthritis since a baby.. doing the clip thing was highly difficult with my fingers but it was a nice touch of yours to talk about the confidence etc. because I managed to do it even if needed tools to succeed. 😊 As for the vacuum dust into the filter not that I'm defending the dealers but I highly doubt it as my filters come out looking like if I bought them black!! Lol. Granted I live in NYC so lots of nature and fresh air... not! Thanks again for the lovely video. I felt like a loving family member showing me instead of some 30-minute video with an engineer. P.s. I bought a K&N cabin air filter which is a lot better because you dont need spend money buying filters every so often. It's reusable and the recharging kit (sold separately and is cheap) refreshes it a lot of times for the life of the filter itself assuming you dont go nuts overusing the bottles. The filter has a 100,000 Miles warranty. Cabin feels so fresh. Air so crisp even if behind smokey diesel vehicles and dusty construction sjtes. I do the same for the K&N engine air filter which is also reusable abeit both are different filter compositions, of course.
Wow, living with RA has challenges but you've got TOOLS! Glad to hear that you were able to undo those dang clips. It is sort of difficult for anyone with low muscle grip strength, too. Thanks for your compliment, "like a loving family member" because we all need kindness and support. I'll look into the K & N brand filter. I'm due for my next filter change soon. (P.S. my son lives in NYC so I appreciate your sarcasm;-)
@upstandingmobility Sure is but where there is a will there is a way! And you're very welcome ! I agree very much with all of us needing love and compassion ! Glad I made ya chuckle on the NYC part ! Glory to God for your effort. I'm so proud of you and grateful for your help. As car consumers we must educate ourselves on everything we can do for our cars to save money and avoid being taken advantage of. Thanks a million time over. You're simply the Best. From Ms Bernie owner of a 2019 Kia Soul. I'm trying to still get answers why my car steams up on the inside when I turn on the heat, also water 💧 is leaking from under the dashboard. I read that another owner said, " that the AC line gets clogged with debris and needs to be blown out with air". If you know or have heard about how to resolve that problem please inform us. I'm not going to continue searching . Once again thanks 😊
Ms. Bernie, I hope you get some answers about your issues with your Soul steaming up and water leaking!!! I am not a mechanic but wish I were. Good luck.
thank you so much. THAT WAS AWESOME. you did great. now I can do it instead of the Kia soul dealership . I love it when I learn something new .. AND I'M A GUY. love it just love.
You can get them at advanced Auto parts for pretty cheap as well and then you don't have to wait for Amazon to deliver it but congratulations on your pedicure
I thank you for this video..I just went to purchase my cabin air filter at the dealership for $27.11 (including) tax.. Thank you so much for this #girlpower.. Going to get my pedicure 😊😉😆
Thanks for your cute note! I now own a KIA Forte, have different glasses and the price of the filter went up but I guess this video is still helpful :-)
As another woman who insists on doing as much of my car stuff as possible, right on! :D screw paying someone else so much for these things. *high five!*
We can't open the hood and poke around like back in the day...you're right that this is one thing we can do ourselves until the dealer makes us buy a special tool or something!
YOU GO GIRL! 👍😄💕💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻 Thank you so much Lindy for this wonderful excellent guiding video to help me install my new Cabin air filter on Rosie my KIA Soul+! She loves it! Lol! 😄😊💕 $aved $80 that the dealer wanted to do it! God bless you Lindy, Rock On & keep those Positive Vibes alive! Stevielovelight 💕✨🤟😎💕💯
@@upstandingmobility I hope I can, I took the glove box out a few times, I'm so good at it now. Lol We went to auto zone they didn't have the right replaceable bulb. Idk. Thx Linda
I've heard of dealer service departments asking like $50 for labor plus $20 for the part for this job. So you saved $50 bucks. I hate to tell you this but a pedicure, which costs about $50 in my town, it may be a bit more difficult to do than changing a filter, require more skill, and it will require more time - but it isn't that hard that you can't also do a pedicure yourself. Then you could give $50 to your favorite charity.
Thanks Theodore for your great idea which I already live. Besides working, I carve out time to volunteer with the local Parkinson's group, I drive a 93 year old neighbor where he needs to go plus I signed up for my first blood drive at the end of the month. So instead of donating money, I give willingly my time to people and groups who need help. I find that more fulfilling than writing a check (which I just did for my friend's 39 mile Avon walk in NYC). Oy, a pedicure where I live is only $35 plus tip!
Good question! I have no idea really because I don't have the 2015 anymore to go check for you. Anyone out there have any suggestions on this question?
Omg thank you so much for this yea they wanted an unnecessary amount, but tbh it took me a while to get the clicks to put that black part back over the filter, but I was doing it at night once I did it during the day I had it lol thanks Lindy! 😊
What year is your kia? I watched another video prior to this one & he took 8 screws out & pulled out the entire glove box, it looked simple I'm just afraid I won't be able to put it back together. It's the simplest things that always get me, all it takes is for 1 screw to not cooperate 🤣 Thank you so much for the video 💞
So joyous and heartfelt, thanks for your comment: YOU MADE MY DAY...glad something so unedited, unfiltered and without false eyelashes made YOUR day!!!
Well, I think I can say this air filter is easy to fix but I wouldn't attempt a brake job...for that I go to the local mechanic before the dealership! Ha!
@@upstandingmobility I've been doing my own brakes and other work since I was old enough to drive (over 30 years). Once you see how easy basic maintenance is, it's maddening to see how mechanics and dealerships rip people off.
I’m trying to do this on a 2019 Kia. I’m finding it hard to locate the second panel to remove and I don’t want to break anything. I’m doing this without my husband knowing! Want to surprise him. Any chance you can get a photo closer inside the glove box? I can’t really see where to pinch any clips on the second panel. Thanks so much!
Ohhh, I'm so sorry you are having problems. I believe it is pinching fingers toward earch other. I don't own the car anymore or I'd go check for you! There are other videos on TH-cam. Maybe they are more specific. Good luck ♥
@@upstandingmobility Me too! I bought the filter at AutoZone for $20, replayed your video and followed right along. Instant gratification and a very dirty filter was removed! Piece of cake.
I think the secret to this is you have to be a woman :-) My dealer wanted nearly 70 bucks to change the cabin air filter on my 2018 Kia Soul. That struck me as insane. So I watched the same YT videos you did, went to Advance Auto Parts, bought a high end filter for 25 bucks and took it home. The first plastic piece came off easy, but that little plastic piece with the tabs was IMPOSSIBLE to get out. I tried everything; spent probably an hour or two trying. Finally, gave up and drove back to Advanced Auto Parts. I explained all this to the young woman cashier with the dyed purple hair and the pierced nostril and she smiled, went out to my car, and popped it right out, then replaced th filter and buttoned it all up. I spent a full two minutes thanking her and telling her how wonderful she was...
What an adorable story! Thanks for trusting a purple haired pierced employee to get it done. And, thanks also for sharing that Advance Auto Parts is a good place to get a filter. Go @stevenwomack9574
Frustrating, I know when things don’t snap in like “click”! Are you still struggling? I also have a 2017 Forte video that shows the process. If you can’t push your passenger seat way back and sit on the floor of your car, then try using your phone to take a video to see where the connectors are. Then view video.
People don't realize that basic maintanance is very simple and save some money. I can do oil change, replace air filter, cabin filter by myself maybe under$100 compare some lube shop cost $50-$100 just do the oil change.
Women ' Most of the time if you purchase an aftermarket filter or battery or wiper blades etc. most auto parts places like AutoZone will install it for free...One of the perks of shopping there. After market parts made for your vechile are just as good or sometimes better than the dealer . Just FYI
I bought my replacement filter at the dealer "retailer window" but others have reported buying them online. Whatever you do, report back when you change it!!
My husband died 10 weeks ago. Thanks to you, I just replaced my own cabin filter. I've never done anything like this. 💪

Ha! Agree and high-5 back...
This worth watching!! Straight and to the point
So happy you found value in the video! Yay!
Thank you, i will try to change mine tomorrow! I ordered the parts 💅 and my nails are done!
Oh! Great news!!! I do hope it goes smoothly and that you enjoy your pretty nails 💅
Thank you. I now have more confidence to replace my filter.
Glad I could help and thank you for your comment!
Straight forward and to the point! Good job! The dealerships are such a rip-off on most things that you can do yourself.... Video: case and point 👌
We can't open the hood and poke around like back in the day...you're right that this is one thing we can do ourselves until the dealer makes us buy a special tool or something!
Thank you for your video. It saved me so much time and money.
Sooo happy to hear this. I have since moved on from my SOUL to a Forte but just can't take down the video because people still comment. Thanks!
YOU GO GIRL! 👍😄💕💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻 Thank you so much Lindy for this wonderful excellent guiding video to help me install my new Cabin air filter on Rosie my KIA Soul+!
She loves it! Lol! 😄😊💕
$aved $80 that the dealer wanted to do it! God bless you Lindy, Rock On & keep those Positive Vibes alive!
Stevielovelight 💕✨🤟😎💕💯
🥁 Drumroll please! Wow, thanks for all the Positive Vibes 💕✨🌀about installing the filter in Rosie…
Thanks for the video! Valvoline wanted to charge me $60 for this. I will order and install myself. 👍
I love seeing “can do” thumbs up! Yay!
Works great, just as you describe. Thanks so much Lindy!
Thank YOU for letting all of us know! 😉
Well you made it so easy, for something so easy 😱😱 that's what you get for putting it off thks a lot 👍👍
You're more than welcome!!
You are very confident,, thank you,,
How about can you replace the light bulb while you have the glove box out?
Haha Judy, that's a good question! I hope you investigate that and then make a video showing us how to do it!!!
@@upstandingmobility I hope I can, I took the glove box out a few times, I'm so good at it now. Lol
We went to auto zone they didn't have the right replaceable bulb. Idk. Thx Linda
Its different from 2013 to 2015 glove box light bulb replacement.
Thanks for the video, the repair shops make it sound like its a “ BIG DEAL “ to change it out, 😀
Great to know you outsmarted them! Thanks for your comment, it makes my day!
Hey, not just ladies, I used your video as a guide for how to change the air filter after my dealer tried the same scam on me!
You go...guy (lol) I'm happy to hear it!
Outstanding job, thanks for sharing and helping others save 💰
Thanks for your comment and even though I am one year late, I appreciate it sooo much!!!!
WOMEN EMPOWERMENT! We love to see it lindy! Thank you queen.
Queen of Filters and questionable videos says thank you...I'm her scribe and she is dictating this to me. ha ha ha
Lindy Smith love it! Keep up the awesome videos you guys rock. ✨❤️
Good job for you. Now I will help my mom and do the same thing for her.
Awwww, brownie points for helping Mom! I'm a Mom so appreciate the consideration ;-)
Helping us still in 2021!! Thank you!
Ha-ha, may you have many more years with your Soul! Thanks for writing!
Great video. I wish you had said how much $ the shop was going to charge
I can't remember now...sorry I didn't see your comment til now! It was a lot :-(
I subbed. I love this. Video. You are the best.
Yay! Thank you so much. :-)
FYI - Caution, the filter cover plate clips are fragile and break off when attempting to open to replace the filter.
Ohhh Nooo, I hope that didn't happen to you during your filter change! Thanks for the heads-up...I bet everyone will take this into consideration!
@@upstandingmobility oh yes it did…duct tape to the rescue 🤪
@@echo53226 Heck yeah, MacGyver!
Thanks very much .real easy to do.Hiw much were they going to charge you?
John Moyer I can’t remember anymore but it sure but just the labor cost was a lot more than the 20 bucks it cost for the filter :-)
big girl! thanks again... you're special. great job.
Well, thanks a lot!
That was great! Appreciate the share. Thank you for your confident assistance!
Well, thanks a lot for your comment and I'm hoping it helps you change your filter!
I'm a dude. Immagona buy myself a beard growth kit now. This helped a lot
Dude. You’ll have money for all the conditioning cream, too! Glad it helped ;-)
My covers are so Hard to get out. I use a screwdriver. So what will happen if I don’t put the covers back on?
Good question! I have no idea really because I don't have the 2015 anymore to go check for you. Anyone out there have any suggestions on this question?
Your amazing. I’m doing mine tomorrow.
How did it go for you? Easy, I hope!
@@upstandingmobility it was so easy. I accidentally broke the clips but everything holds in place and the air smells amazing.
Omg thank you so much for this yea they wanted an unnecessary amount, but tbh it took me a while to get the clicks to put that black part back over the filter, but I was doing it at night once I did it during the day I had it lol thanks Lindy! 😊
Click, click...it is easier to do it in the daytime so I'm glad you didn't give up!!! Yay
I have a 2013 Kia Soul. I think I have to remove approximately 8 screws, but still do-able. 💪👍
My 1st SOUL was a 2013 Alien Green! Keep that baby going! Let us know how the attempt went. Good luck!
Thank you! The dealership wants to charge me $66 to install this $18 cabin air filter!
Go Queenie! I'm glad the video helped you out...thanks for letting us know 😁
Great video! It was loads of help.
I hope it was fast and easy so you could get back to BBQing! Thanks for your comment ;-)
cool I like your filters how do I buy 1 from your company thank you Skip
Thank you! I get the filters from the KIA dealer. Inside the dealership is a "retail window" and you can get it there.
Incredibly helpful! Thank you.
Yay! So happy to hear that you found it helpful…you are welcome!
What year is your kia? I watched another video prior to this one & he took 8 screws out & pulled out the entire glove box, it looked simple I'm just afraid I won't be able to put it back together. It's the simplest things that always get me, all it takes is for 1 screw to not cooperate 🤣
Thank you so much for the video 💞
One year late, but thank you for your comment and your hearts!!! haha it is always something as Rosanna Rosannadana used to say ;-)
You just MADE MY DAY!!!! 💙🙌🏻💚 Signed, -A Dude, & a Gay Auto Dude at that! You Go Girl! 😎
So joyous and heartfelt, thanks for your comment: YOU MADE MY DAY...glad something so unedited, unfiltered and without false eyelashes made YOUR day!!!
Great video. Dealerships are stealerships.
I believe that we , women can do it to!!! Instead of people taking advantage of us. Simple stuff then Mani-Pedi🥰
Simple stuff that looks difficult, right? Happy mani-pedi!
How Sweet, what a nice surprise. I don't know if the configuration is the same but check out my video for 2020 Soul. I'll post the link soon!
th-cam.com/video/oSEZSPat1OE/w-d-xo.html Sneak peek: This gets uploaded at 11p tonight ET.
pinch together inward, up or down?
Ohhh, I'm so sorry you are having problems. I believe it is pinching fingers toward earch other. I don't own the car anymore or I'd go check for you! There are other videos on TH-cam. Maybe they are more specific. Good luck ♥
Lindy Smith got it. Pinch top and bottom towards one another. Thank you!
Thank you! Now on to the engine filter.
Toooo funny! (Wait, you are kidding, right?!)
@@upstandingmobility Nope. I've got it on my schedule for Wednesday.
Thanks. Good and easy information.
I am so happy that you found it helpful, thanks!
I loved this video 👍Thank you
Great to hear! Although it probably doesn't rank up there with Oceans 11...haha I appreciate your comment
Nice job!
Thanks very much!
Once you take out the filters cover do you pinched up or down to remove the second cover?
Oh my goodness, I don't know because I can't remember. I don't own the 2015 Soul anymore. Can anyone help Lisandra out with her question?
The Kia dealership told me the cost of a cabin air filter alone would be $90. This is awesome.
Go Jane, Go Jane! Glad you were able to watch and DIY ;-)
I’ve done this before but I can’t put that little cover on back!!😭😭😭 (the little one)
Frustrating, I know when things don’t snap in like “click”! Are you still struggling? I also have a 2017 Forte video that shows the process. If you can’t push your passenger seat way back and sit on the floor of your car, then try using your phone to take a video to see where the connectors are. Then view video.
@@upstandingmobility ok I’ll try again thank you !!!
Does anyone know where to find this filter?
I have seen them on Amazon but also the retail parts window at my dealer sells them, maybe your KIA dealer does too. Good luck!
Yes. Queen. Thank you & ROCK ON!!!
Ha ha, Queen of Air Filters...I'll take that crown and wear it proudly!
Thanks for the video! I found my filter was installed with wrong side.
Whoops! I'm so happy to hear that you problem solved your filter issue! Good going and thanks for letting us know!
Very helpful, thanks!!
I'm soooo glad!
Thanks for this!!
You are very welcome! I'm glad you commented ;-)
Lindy Smith after your video I ordered my cabin air filter. I’ll be replaying your video on Thursday when it arrives to make sure I do it correctly 🤗
People don't realize that basic maintanance is very simple and save some money. I can do oil change, replace air filter, cabin filter by myself maybe under$100 compare some lube shop cost $50-$100 just do the oil change.
Agreed but we don't just hang out around open hoods these days like the good ol days. Dads...teach your kids, right Samuel?
She’s so goated 🤞🏾
Are you so serious?! Like more than Aretha Franklin or Frank Sinatra?!? 🤣Thank you 🚗
Women ' Most of the time if you purchase an aftermarket filter or battery or wiper blades etc. most auto parts places like AutoZone will install it for free...One of the perks of shopping there. After market parts made for your vechile are just as good or sometimes better than the dealer . Just FYI
Allrighty then, thanks for the info and if anyone out there does use a auto part store, let us know if your experience was + or -
I’m not a lady but my mom wants me to replace hers so here I am
OMG, this is so great...thanks for helping out your mom. Every day should be Mother's Day ♥ ;-)
Thank you they just told me I need one and I told them no thanks lol!!
You get an "atta girl"!
Did you purchase your filter from your dealer or order it online? Was just told mine needs changed.
I bought my replacement filter at the dealer "retailer window" but others have reported buying them online. Whatever you do, report back when you change it!!
Lindy Smith thank you, will do. You made it look so easy.
@@cynthiawinfield9950 I believe in youuuuu!
Wished I would have found this video before paying NTB😢😢😢.. But now I know moving forward
Moving forward, yes!!! Thanks for your comment (I'm 65 so had to google NTB; thought it was shorthand text lol lol)!
kool , thanx...and Rock onnn indeed
