- Fortunately, we don't have issues with vultures or other wild animals attacking our backyard. However, we have 2 curious little chihuahuas that were jumping into our garden and digging holes. To keep the out, we built this fence. The pieces of wood were about $1 each and the chicken wire was around it $20. This took us maybe 1.5 hours to put together. Hope it helps someone out!

I love the fact that you can remove the fence to get to the bed to add other plants or weed great idea! the video would have been more helpful however had your wife showed more of YOU and the PROJECT and less of your dogs :( but I still think you did a great job!

I found this very useful, thanks. Was planning to build a semi-permanent cage around my raised bed. But after watching your build, I decided on removable panels like yours. They should make it easier to work in the beds. And they look great. Nice job on this.
Thank you for the kind response! One thing I would recommend when you’re screwing the PVC pipes to the bed, only use 1 screw per pipe so you can angle them as necessary. (I sure had to).

The screws are 1 1/2”?
Michelle Ram I might have used 1” screws on the frame. I can check for you if you like

Michelle Ram Yes I used 1 1/2” screws. The 1x2” is more like 3/4” thick rather than 1” thick, so 1 1/2” is just the right length. Just don’t sink the head of the screw in too far or it’ll point out the other end!

You shouldn’t use tin snips to cut wire
You’ll put nicks in the blades
chelcy berry the tin snips I used are more than strong enough for the job. Not a single nick happened to the blade lol
