That second Denathrius had me laighing out loud. Quite the insane draft!
I saw it live and I was like "WTF is this guy deck?"
And he might have even won the game if he didn‘t keep him in Hand for a turn
In my head i jokingly predicted that the opponent was holding a denathrius (worst case scenario in that game would be a big denathrius), and after it was played i was like "might as well play around a second one" WHEN I SAW THE SECOND ONE I BURSTED OUT LAUGHING

@@jofipa9953 Same. For better or for worse my standard at all times in hearthstone nowadays is "Assume big denathrius" as your worst case. Don't usually need to worry about the second one...

To his defense though he had very bad options. Half of them were bad big drops and half of them were early game cards.
@@bigboyfinesse8310 The question is: Are suboptimal big Drops better or worse than the 15th or so Two-drop...i Think around Pick 18 to 20 he definetely should have picked more middle Drops or the Risk of Running out of cards would be too High...Fantastic Early Game but in the Lategame you don't want to topdeck 2 drop After 2 drop..;)

Eh, gotta pick the best of what you're given. He was a control deck at that point, but that all changed when the 2-drop nation attacked.

16:26 I think focusing on how your opponent could juke you is just wrong there. You gain so much by picking the box and lose so little by not picking the book. When it's 1 cost versus 10 cost of value it's just silly not to go for the 10.

16:41 I feel like there are two ways to pick when your opponent plays a suspicious minion.
First, the mind-games strat which is trying to understand your opponent's position and what they would pick based on what they think you would pick (often not best card).
Second is when there is one card that is so much more powerful/value than the other picks, you have to pick that one because if your opponent wasn't mind-gaming (which is a decent percentage of the time) you might get blown out by that card.
On a side note, I get the fun element of these cards but the 1 mana suspicious minions are kinda OP. Especially in arena but I think the mage one sees play in constructed too.
Yeh, I like this. It's a game of balancing out how bad it would be if your opponent played one card or the other. Is it really gonna be a big deal if the opponent plays a primordial studies? Then when you're playing the cards it's actually an interesting tell when your opponent guesses incorrectly. You know they would prefer a different card than the one you chose.
Yeah, you're bang on here. It's a much more nuanced pick than Trump touches on - it's not all about the mind-game aspect when it comes to choices like this.
And yeah, these cards are definitely too cheap in arena for how much value they give.
You missed the aspect of a card being useful for you, but not for your opponent. Such as a shield slam when the opponent cannot easily get armour, but you can. Or ancient mysteries when your deck has a secret, and your opponent's class wouldn't

I never really understood forgetting whether deathrattle or reborn happens first. I just remember that every reborn minion with a deathrattle, like the 3/4 taunt that restores 3 on death, has its deathrattle trigger first.
The second opponent made me so happy! Picked the box when it was offered, then did the probably suboptimal play of playing the two ghosts facing each other for the flavor. Theyre my hero.

On the second of the two Suspicious picks on the mage: I actually don't think either of you misplayed. Mage picked what they needed knowing that either pick is feasible, Trump used the info available to him to make as educated a guess as possible.

Isn't Fireball Taunt, swing weapon into 0/4, then double trade the play at 25:40? We just saw the opponent pick a Fireball, so we should minimize incoming damage, no? The way Trump played it, he took 7 damage guaranteed, leaving him 3 hp outside of Fireball range. At this point, the weapon charge is pretty much useless short term either way.

Yeah he played Flame Ward spending mana without thinking about that first. He wasn’t even considering Kidnap in that play. Which is a shame since he played around Splitting Image perfectly the turn before.
