I started playing SSO when I was 9 in 2017. I was looking for games to play on my laptop, and I wanted to download Wizard101, but the process was taking too long, so I eventually found a pop-up ad for SSO. I'm so grateful I clicked on it because this game changed my life. I loved making friends, roleplaying with them, riding on horses, and completing quests. It's so much fun when you're bored and have nothing to do. I begged my parents to buy me lifetime star rider for years and I was literally so happy when they finally did. I still play to feel that same joy I used to get while playing as a child. But I can't find it the same anymore, maybe since it was the fact that, as I was growing up, the game had too in a way.

When i first started, i was hooked . Not by the horse or character models, not by the graphics , but the story. To just come over to jorvik for the summer and then become a soul rider. From fighting against the dark core. From the small events like easter, st patricks day and april fools. From feeling like you develop a friendship towards justin moorland, and the soul riders, from being accepted by the bobcats. Back then (pre 2020 ish) although the story was incomplete, it was amazing. But when lockdown hit, sso imo succumbed into the social media aspect. Trying to change fast to get more players, instead of growing with their current playerbase. This started with a quest revamp and npc revamps. To make the game better, they said. Then they added a new character, or well they said they would. We waited for months and months on end with excitement, worry , fear for the new models. Then, they release. Half finished, which was odd because they apparently spent the whole time retrofitting the characters. With a very small customisation range, and them being built like toddlers, sso recieved backlash. Backlash they did not respond to until much later, so then they added 1 more body type. Too little, too late. Now they revamp the tutorial quests, making a rift between old and new players. Then, it was the new horses , being released in what felt like every month. Sso has changed, but not for the better. With every horse they add hundreds of glitches follow. The game itself is made on old software. Which also brings me to the safety of the game. Bot moderators? Like they can be so easily surpassed with a string of words. If you dont know what i mean , bots can get confused with specific strings which potentially means you can say anything without getting banned (for example: *really offensive phrase* (followed by brackets with the words: sing song sing song or horse grass grass , or just any random phrase) but this was also in old sso. People talk of nostalgia not of the old game, but of the community. But the community was never that good to begin with, but people dont remember that.
Thanks to whoever read this, have a great day/night.
This is wrote in my opinion, and i would love to see your views on this everyone :)
Edit: also I think breeding will never work because of the amount of breeds the game has and they would have to add a specialised genetic system , or a stat system, for it to work , also people would probably breed magic horses exclusively and if they were to add that it would still be 1000sc per breeding

The whole bot string of words thing I found on a reddit post about the recent situation on nightstar but it's still very important because it shows how easily this game can be passed.

I think older players want to experience being a blissful kid again that they once were, when every thing was easier. So they come back to the game over and over again expecting to feel the same joy they once felt, only to be met with drama and controversy souranding SSO. As kids we only saw a game that you could ride around on horses with you friends, but now as we all got older, we understand the problems with this game and it's hard for us to understand why we can't appreciate the game anymore.

I 100% agree with this. The game is special to all of our hearts, and our inner child cherishes it immensely. This is precisely why I made this video. I really wanted those who took the time to watch it to think back and actually remember what it was like. Then, just maybe, they would start to see the game like they did back then. Even if only for a moment. Games are supposed to be a place to go to escape, like books, but you get to really experience it. By being hyper aware of all the issues and controversy, the game begins to feel *too* real. So, it's nice to just take a moment to reminisce and look at the game under a different - but familiar - light.

As an older player (started in 2013) who dropped the game because of the changes, I can provide some insight into our side of the story. First of all, yep, nostalgia definitely plays a part. For a lot of people, including me, SSO was a very special game during our childhood, so it adds to the reminiscing and melancholy. You're totally right on that point.
But there is a LOT more to this (ignore me if you don't want to see the same old rant lol):
      - I miss the old ambiance, the music, the less saturated colors, etc. It gave a mysterious, darker, and very specific tone to the game that isn't found nowadays.
      - The lore was (personal opinion here) darker and more mysterious too. We were constantly speculating on the development of the storyline and the different characters. This has changed so much that, be honest, we don't know what's going on anymore. We are now more detached from the protagonists that we used to hold so dearly back in the day. The number of times we spent on that fridge door, speculating and creating stories... today's SSO just isn't about that anymore.
      - The years were filled with events providing entertainment even for f2p players: Christmas, Easter, Valentine's Day, Halloween, free Star Rider weekends/weeks, and of course the new areas (which came out almost yearly) and new quests. Now, it is mainly about the new horse breeds coming out and some rare events.
      - We had decently big updates almost weekly, accompanied by the SSO Show (also weekly), which hyped everything up even more and brought a sense of community and belonging.
The community shifted, and that is FINE. A 2015 community wouldn't be good nowadays, obviously.
But for older players who saw that shift, we had to let go of that game and its community as we watched it being swallowed up by the new game and new community finding its way. The way it happened was less than desirable, with false promises (stretched over YEARS), outright lies, and little things like the dismantlement of the SSO Show. The shift could be felt... the story became confusing, the characters were forgotten (and then replaced/rewritten bro), some areas were totally forgotten, the yearly events disappeared, the music and tones of the game changed, there was no more special bond with your starter horse (he was supposed to be the only one able to talk to us, for example), etc etc etc.
And when we spoke up, we were directly silenced, insulted by the new community, ignored, and gaslit by SSO themselves. We also had those hopes about what types of changes could be made, and updates we wished for, but there were only horses coming out and nothing more for almost 5 years straight. We cared, a lot, but in the end, it was just hurting and disappointing us over and over again...
There were good changes! The horses are gorgeous, the characters are way better looking now, and there is some new in-game content that's great (note that those changes started once Concurence grew). But it just isn't the game that I bought, and I still have the feeling that it was taken away from me. It's fine, it happened, and you let it go, move on, or learn to enjoy the new game as you say (and you are very right about it, there is good in the new sso). It's just that it's more than reminiscing about our younger days; it's reminiscing about a game that was taken away and has been replaced and that replacement is dangling in front of our noses and really isn't the same (I just wouldn't have paid for the current game tbh). Some can learn to enjoy it, others have to let it go and it hurts.
      Big unreadable rant, sorry lol.

@@midlight4711 Believe me, I watched all the changes the same as you. I've been playing this game since day one, and there is a part of me that finds it all quite devastating. That's why I asked what keeps people coming back. There is so much going on in the SSO world right now that I wanted to create a space for those that still love the game for what it is, to come here and talk about it without all of the negativity and hate clouding what they find joy in. I know what the game has gone through, I see what is going on right now, but I still enjoy the game. I have plenty of my reasons to as well, but not all the OG players, like yourself, can say the same. And that's okay.
I appreciate your comment. This is clearly something that meant a lot to you, and the old game still does. That's just the thing though, "the old game." I look at SSO now to be a totally different game and have accepted the changes for what they are, like you said. I think that is probably the biggest reason why I still play. The old SSO is gone and I am mostly okay with what has come to replace it. Which I know is rare. 15 million accounts, but only 700,000 (estimating) active players is quite the difference. That doesn't mean that I don't understand what older players have gone through and how they feel about the current standing of everything. I know that it does hurt. This game is huge part of most of our childhoods, and watching it all be ripped away *is* painful.
I just don't want to watch the same happen to the players who've only been here for a while. The game we have now is the game they know and it should stay light-hearted and fun. I don't want to see it taken away from them by a hostile community, disgusting chats, and disappointment. I truly believe that SSE is trying. They learned quite the lesson between 2021 and 2023, and it seems they are starting to get their act together. I understand my ambitions are quite vast and nearly unaobtainable but there have been a few so far that have found the peace in this video I meant for them to find. That's enough.
I feel like I repeated myself quite a bit and just reiterated some of what you said. I just wanted to make it clear that I understand what you're saying. 😅
Never apologize for speaking your mind and talking about what you care about. I enjoyed reading your comment and listening to what you had to say. Part of me just feels like the game is falling apart again. That is why I'd like my channel to be a place free of negativity and rebuild a very broken and split community. I can't control what SSE does, but I can at least try to put a bit of good back out there; bring the love and joy back, just as the point of this video.

I was 18 when I started in 2014 so I am a veteran and the game has absolutely no link to my childhood. Because of this, I remember vividly the serious issues the game had. The game crashed constantly and had multiple GAME BREAKING bugs. The horses moved all the same and looked like they had no joints. The filter was impossible to hold a conversation with. The events were boring, you could finish all the quests for the entire event in almost one day with almost every event and they were the same every year.
Every single game in the history of games will have flaws but we cannot ask a game to halt progress for the sake of nostalgia because it will KILL THE GAME and it will no longer exist.

i used to do roleplays (especially wild horse roleplays) all the time on sso, i was never a star rider. i went on a few times over the past few years, and a lot of roleplayers discriminate saying "star riders only, non jorvik-warmbloods only, etc...". that's when i realized i was finally done with the game for good. the culture has just changed.

I started playing SSO for the first time in late October 2012 at 14 years old. Now 25, this game still remains a huge part of me. I’ve always seen SSO as my escape from reality, when I’m stressed and I have the time, I train my horses for a few hours…if I’ve done everything I’ve needed to do for the day I’ll hop on and enjoy a few hours to myself playing. It goes without saying that the game has changed a lot over the past almost 12 years I’ve been playing ~ some changes for the better and some for the worst. Regardless of the games dynamics, I’ll never stop playing. Even though it feels miles away from the SSO I fell in love with over a decade ago…

I started playing because I was desperate to play a horse game and none of them weere good enough, sso was such a dream for me. It was everything I wanted from a horse game and more. I feel that what added so much magic to the game was having to earn certain things, like regions, and the horses in that region. Unlocking Dino Valley was so much fun but then doing the work to unlock the fjords... It made the fjords so important, you had to earn it, you COULD move on with the main story without unlocking it yet if you wanted that special fjord horse, you had to work for it. Similarly, unlocking Epona was so wonderful because there were all these horses there you didn't have anywhere else, and they were so special too. I'm not going to lie, I miss content like that... Something else I was completely enchanted by was Druid culture. I'm of celtic descent, actually I'm a whole half celtic. Video games have lots of vikings and other cultures, but nobody seems to want anything to do with celtic culture so the Druids were super special to me. We know all about the whole mother stone thing, but there was something warmer about the way Druid culture was introduced and shown off in the old parts of the game. It's simple little things like Elizabeth's candycane and candle making tradition, and how she collected Aideen's tears to use for Druid magic-related purposes. Maybe it's because some of these were traditions I grew up with that invoke lots of warmth and happiness for me, but it brought a certain magic and warmth to the game I miss dearly. You could almost seem to guess your character might just have been born a Druid too, since we don't know much about them. I'm not sure if it was heavily implied in the quests or it's my own assumption but I went through the game certain that our character's origins were with the Druids, maybe back when they were too young to remember or something... Anyway, it just doesn't feel like we're PART of the island anymore, and the whole lore of our character is supposed to be very deeply rooted with the creation of the island (for the sake of avoiding spoilers I won't say why).

When I was younger I was diagnosed with autism, horses, animals, anything really with that category was a hyper fixation for me and since i was very bad at human interaction during that time it was hard for me to make friends, when I found star stable i was over the moon. I was playing it when it hit their 3rd birthday (dang that was so so so long ago) i loved my starter horse, I would draw JewelStar and I hanging out during classes, I would beg beg beg my mom for life time membership but sadly we couldn't afford it, when my grandma bought me it for christmas no one could keep me off the computer, I bought all of the horses I wanted. When my account I was hacked I cried, oh lord i cried, my mom told me she never knew how important the game was to me until she saw me crying over it. To this day I still play the game but its so sad how this game went from "we listen to our players" to "we won't listen till we get yelled at, negative comments, or losing money, or until you give us your money" this game has become a horse buying game then a community game. I miss the old owners, builders, designers, etc from 2013-2018. They listened to us, kept us on our toes for surprises, but sadly...we don't get those anymore..I would love to go back in time to play again back in 2012-2013

I found the game as a kid by just looking on youtube for a horsey channel, later finding star stable by a sso video, i begged and begged for a laptop as my brother usually hogged up the family computer and my dad who worked for a computer company got an extra one from his office for me and helped me download it, i adored the game and when i got home from school i dropped my bags and hopped right on, even when i was level 5 i would ride my starter around moorland for hours, i began to beg my parents for lifetime and after getting a few good grades and doing chores i got my lifetime, i also had just finished the quest thing for spirit and was able to buy that expensive apple, spirit being my first horse, what keeps me playing is the tiny bit of magic in the game that i still feel while playing, i would love to see more positivity in the game community because star stable is always going to make mistakes like we human beings do, another thing i would like to see is players giving sso examples of what they want instead of just complaining about it, for example "i hate sso so much" is not a good way to express how to help the game, what do you want to like the game again? for example "I dont like sso that much and would like to see blah blah blah" is a way better example, i would like to see is more updates of older gen 3's (such as knabstrupper) and updates of forgotten breeds such as the oldenburg, lastly i would love to see them bring back all of the removed horses and fjords possibly for a limited time, i would go crazy to get the rest of the old horses.

The community is def a big problem, if you express how you feel about the game, they want to shut you up and tell you, "No you are wrong, the game is good." Even with popular content creators, they have to tell you how great the game is, and I think that just feeds into the false image of the game. Idek how you can be a content creator for the game being that there is literally no content being added to it.
Where I disagree with your comment: I feel like they have been updating old horses, like a lot... Like the Morgan, Mustang, Selle Fracais, Lipizanner, and probably a lot more recent ones... I think it is good for them to update horses, and you having the option to buy an old or newer model of it. And it is fair for them not to want players riding older horses that may feel out-of-place from the current version of the game. They already warn us, as well whenever they are removing a horse, and that is good. It gives you the time to either spend your existing star coins, or buy some more to get them before they leave for good. They luckily still stay in your home stable even when they are removed from being able to buy. However, it would be nice for them to maybe just bring back some sort of nostolgia with maybe some tweaks to it to fit with the current state of the game.

I found the game as a young 8 year old who was obsessed with horses and anything riding, I would look up new horse games everyday, so when starstable started to rise, it obviously clicked into my radar. With all the TH-cam videos, making the game out to be great, I got the game, it was addicting, it was fun, I liked the style, and I was okay with the new one. I got star rider a few weeks after getting it, I was so hooked that I begged my parents from the moment I got it, promising that I would play for year. Here we are now, seeing a large downfall, I still play, I’m Level 24, and I am fine with it, I have made life long friends, but the drama is unbelievable… I do think the map needs more, it’s so empty at the top, I also think we need events to last longer. We all know someone who stays up till 2am grinding to get the event quests finished, just to do it again a month later. Personally, I barely play for over 3 hours straight without getting bored of event grinding, so extra time can be nice for people like me. WE NEED STARCOIN PRICES LOWERED!!! I can’t stress it enough, if they lower the prices, people might be more inclined to buy some here and there. I haven’t bought star coins this whole year, just saving, and I know many of my friends have, because they can’t affords sc anymore. Okay okay, let’s get more positive, I do believe this game is doing a great job at letting you feel wanted as a character, and it lets you feel some of that childhood whimsy that we struggle to see in real life. It’s not just the game, it’s the clubs and and people to, for a while I logged on daily, just to talk, and run around with my friends.
If you’re still reading, props to you. Because my fingers hurt from typing, I’m going to say this fast in a summary.
Starstable lets us all feel those childhood memories that we all loved, it lets us take a break from reality, as we play our little horse game, waiting for all the drama to stop, and waiting for all the updates to arrive. We will never get the old sso, but we can always remember it. Nothing has to be the same twice, and nothing has to stay the same, you can’t please everyone, but you can make something to give a little joy to those who want it back.

Actually as an old player, I'd like a closure to the main story and more challenges. The level was already way too low but recently it's even easier. I'm not against the idea of making an easy more for younger players but at least they could make a hard one for others. Also I'd like to understand why they didn't keep the old ambiance and simply updated the graphics, here it's not an update, it's totally different and not what I was promised when I paid. I could wait for 11 years if the result was worth the wait, but it's not sadly.

Love this vid - you’re someone who understands how games work and that is such a great insight.
I joined this game for the horses, the beautiful graphics and the absence of an imperative to kill things in order to advance. That last point is probably the most important to me - it’s just relaxing and a beautiful place to be. I joined early last year after seeing it showcased on the MyFroggyStuff stuff TH-cam channel.
I also love the mainline story- it’s disappointing that it’s so incomplete after 13 years of development. I’m also disappointed that all the lore books are missing from the Rune Runner quest. I really don’t know why they did that - it would be so great for the depth of the storytelling, and it basically means that half the rewards for doing Rune Runner - which is a major grind - just aren’t there.
I recently created a new character to see what the game is like if you just do the side quests and ignore the main one, and I found it still gives you a really rewarding game experience. I think one way forward for SSO is if the actually removed the main story and ran the game as a 100% MMORPG the developed the main quest as a fully standalone game with all its depth and magic. I think that would give them a game which could easily compete with any of the major titles out there now. Also, there’s a lot of horror in the main quest line. I’ve watched players’ vids where they’ve been really shocked or upset by some of them. If they did the main quest as a stand-alone, limited, re playable game, they could go all the way with the horror aspects, really explore the characters’ psychologies, and provide an incredibly satisfying, original game experience. Plus it would carry an age certificate so younger players wouldn’t get such a shock on some of the main quest line stories.

I'm not sure when was the fist time I made acount in sso. I heard about it from my friend, but quickly lost interest, because I didn't spoke a word of english. If I remember right, they translated sso in finnish around 2017-2018 and I installed sso again. I played everything in two days I was able without a starrider. I spend time just running in Pinta and Moorland, but without much of content I stopped after a month I think. When I was 18 (it was year 2021-2022 if I remember right) and move to live alone, I make new sso account and started to play the game. I bought starrider, and have played the game till these days. I think I'm one of those rare who loves to grind to level up horses, but I just really love to run around. I'm bit lazy with quests, still on level 19. For me this game is just a comfort place, where I can imagine being some protector of Jorvik and just run around with cute silly horses

After my first halloween of 2021 (the one with unlimited pumpkin hunt) I was so excited to introduce my bff to the game with this event - the moment we started we got slapped with the whole "this time you'll have to collect soul shards to open the portals" thing. My bff got bored and left the game five minutes later. I felt so bad, I wanted to impress her with the halloween races so she could get interested in the game and playing together :(

I downloaded the game when I was 6ish, I was playing on my computer in Minecraft when I was really bored, so I looked at other games. I found Star Stable while looking, and I absolutely loved horses (and still do)
I got my mom to download it for me, I joined the game with my dapple grey starter horse (I forgot his name)
I had no idea how starcoins worked, but had plenty of Jorvik shillings. I was so confused on how to buy horses. I played for 2 years without star rider. I quit in like 2017ish?
I joined back in October of 2021, my best friend told me about it, and I decided I should try it again. I bought star rider in December 2021.
I used to play for hours every day. Training, hanging out, doing club practices.
I now only join to buy new horses, do shows, and chat. I don’t do much, but I still enjoy sso, sso is a great game, but the community is so bad. I play on NS as you can imagine it’s real special. I just miss the foggy and gorgeous (old) graphics rlly

I think 🤔 what I would like to see is more events with things to do and more ways to make our stables feel more homey more our touch BUT MOST OF ALL a way to be able to get to our horses that are in our pasture so they not just sitting there waiting for us to wanna more them back to the stable there should be a way to interact with all our horses so none of them are being left out and forgotten about

I started playing when i was 11 years old in 2021 and i absolutely loved it because i love horses and the storyline was very interesting, It was also a way for me to get out of my comfort zone because I was constantly playing Roblox Royale high (which is not a very fun game any more, Its more like a simulator),every time there was a new free star rider code i would be ecstatic because my parents refused to buy star rider all together, and mostly, I also loved listening to the SFX of the game such as the sound of your horse's hoofs against the grass or stone, or the water splashing as the horse ran through the shallow waters, I loved the semi realism in the design of the map and the little changes of music every time you explore another part of the map. I remember very specifically that I went down a rabbit hole of SSE lore storyline wise ,player wise who made the game etc., the things that happened before i joined and how i could have experienced those events such as April fools day or Easter, or the previous midsummer festivals before they were removed. I don't play that much nowadays like a said before i cling on to free star rider and without that the game feels boring because the only things you can do are train your horses till they are max level by doing the same race every single day over and over, and sometimes i wish that every single area in star stable was free but of course that could never be true,, but at least i can remember the memories i made on this silly little horse game. And what i would like to see from SSE is more things to do as a non star rider like acess to some side quest or a mini game here and there

came to play with my gf back in the day, loaded the game back in 2024 for the memories and noticed it had deep lore and story. personally I dont mind some things getting removed (like "cold status" at dino valley or the "highway speedboost" or atfer jump [x] for slowdown right after landing) I just would love to see more of the story and map.

    i already left years ago.
    but i started playing 2014.
got introduced to it by a friend and we’d always play together. she’d share her account with me since my parents would NEVER buy me game stuff and it was fun.
it was a fun game, i loved the oversaturated graphics, i loved the old morgans, i loved questing, i loved the vibes of the game.
eventually i saved up and gave my friend money to buy me lifetime. stuff was great, i was practically addicted. id run home after school everyday to play star stable.
sadly, my account got hacked and i lost it.
    sso never gave it back.
    so, i left in 2017/2018.
i did attempt to come back but i dont like the game anymore. too much has changed.
the quests, the graphics, the characters, everything.
or maybe, i have changed, for i am not a kid anymore.

About why some of us still plays SSO... good question. I have been playing since 2012 and mostly found enjoyment from doing sso movies and vids (still have some old ones uploaded and now they have found a new purpose of being video documentation of what SSO used to be like 😂). But my first actual introduction to the franchise was in 2005 when The Starshine Legacy games released and was sent out through a subscription on a book club (called Pollux). By then I fell in love with story line while playing the then too difficult levels. I also played The Seasonal Riders coming a few years later who was the predecessor of sso. Now it's strange that almost 20 years has passed since 2005 but SSO was really like the dream coming true of what I wanted star shine legacy to be: Freedom riding around on my fav horse companion and doing both wonderful, exciting and hilarious quests. Maybe that's why I am still here because of my nostalgia, but of course I also have had times not being in game for a long time and coming back. I want to be here for the rest of the ride, grateful for what I have experienced, always been cheering it on from the shadows since it was a small company. Just hoping now to see some kind of "end" to the story line.
Wish you all the best ❤️

So back in 2014 when I was 7, I saw an ad about this horse game star stable and immediately told my dad that I wanted this game, and he helped me get it. 07-08-2014 was my first day on star stable online, and I loved the game. My parents told me that I could get star rider if I continued playing the game, and I did. Around october my parents bought me 1 month star rider twice, and then perfect for christmas present I got life time star rider. Now I had access to the rest of the wonderful game, star stable online. I loved this game so much, I played it with my best friend, I loved the story, the events, I loved everything. I remember the first gen 2 horse being released, the quarters. I remember it being around easter, because if hunted for easter eggs and everyone talked about how fast they were and seeing one running fast on my egg hunt. I remember the excitment saving up for the black quarter horse, being so excited I even bought it without naming it. I have so many beautiful memories from this game, I could rant for hours.
The game truly have meant a lot to me, and still do. I just can't let the game go, it means too much to me, but I know deep down that the game isn't the same, it isn't the game that i once played - don't get me wrong, I love this game but I don't enjoy is as much anymore. and that is okay, you can't like every change.
I was really attached to the fact that the story was the continue of the starshine legacy games, and now it isn't anymore, which is so sad. It was such an interesting story.
Honestly I would really like to see pine hill in sso, that would be amazing!

First of all im subbing you give good calm vibes and hope for a better start for alot of things sso for me. I get scared watching alot of people because of the drama, and fighting or to put it simply the negativity. So seeing your video has eased my mind and given me renewed hope, what brought me to star stable originally i started November, 11, 2013. When i was 16 years old on a gray laptop. My starters name was Fireriver and he was the white jorvik warmblood with white mane and tail. Ive always been a horse lover so when i was on youtube the day i started there was an add for it and i played as a non star rider for a long while till maybe about 2015(cant remember) i would rp in my head that me and my starter were like a legend riding around moorland and fort pinta and no one could keep up with us i was carefree. I continued to play and see the game change i did take a year off when the year the gen 2 mustangs came out and i vowed to stay up to date on everything sso because i love to immerse myself in this island and play with my horses. As the years have gone on and ive gone into my early, mid, and late 20s so much has happened. But i love this game because whenever life got bad logging into the game brought joy to my life, i could ride my favorite horses and just have friends. As time goes on i play as a lone rider but the game allows for more alone time for myself than once it started. I really live to train my horses striving to max a horse makes me joyous 😊. These are where i started and why i still play also because i couldnt see jorvik as a game i couldnt not play because its my home away from home. Ive done tons of lone rp with my horses to where i have so many personalities and stories for them. For future updates im looking forward to breeding everytime i think about it i get excited to see what it will be like as like i mentioned i love to train horses so maybe breeding could be like my selle francie could breed with my american paint because in my stable they are a couple, id love to see thisr foals or id love to see some older breeds of gen three wirh new coats like the gen 3 jorvik starter pony im dying for a red roan with a blaze like the jorvik gen 1 pony i like the idea of my horses being updated and my gen 1 red roan gal CarmelCookie is left in the dust with a few other of them who dont have new breeds with thier coats. I had hopes for the dartmoor when it was announced to have a red roan it would have a blaze like my gal but it didnt. So my idea is that breeding will open up the chance to breed for coats on gen 3 horses that lack the coats for my sso horse characters companions. Id love for a paddock too to see my horses in and just all around more abilities to spend time with my horses. I like the my stable hopefully it will get a decent update, but something im more interested in is more character updates like the chance to eat food or sprint jump. So i can have even more immersion. Maybe we could like with the jorvik gazette go out and get new scoops for lore, or go to south hoof and help rescue horses. I would also like to interact with my running pets more than just them sitting in a saddle bag or runnign on the ground, id love to pet my pets or interact with them like you sorta can with the petting zoo of the equestrian stable. If they bring breeding to horses could they do it for cats or other pets maybe you can raise all sorts of pets that arent just locked to events. A horse auction for unwanted horses would be nice too with the breeding maybe we get foals that we dont need but someone else would love them we set it up on this horse auction it does not have to be sc or shillings you get maube it could be auction tokens or tickets that you can use for a range of prizes like tack, gear, new pets or the horses themselves. So maybe someone can earn these horses from the auction/market i have wondered what they will do with the horse market once all gen 1-2 horses will retire for greener pastures. A feature like the horse/auction market would be fantastic. I apologise for my long winded comment but these are many wants and hopes i get for the game things i hope to see one day 😅😅 again sorry it was too long may not have been on point entirely but i got so immersed in this comment thank you, i would love to see you grow and i cannot wait to see how you will do someday as a sso youtuber. Gollgosh you inspire me to want to be one too but with the negitivity i get anxiety on how people will react with how i think with since i relate very much with your views and ideas!~♡ ok im done now have a great week

Began in late 2013 when I was 8 or 9. I lovveed horses, couldnt have one. So sso was the next best thing. I never followed the story, and I hated quests. Nevertheless, this game was one of my main escapes. Something about the environment and the music just kept me so curious about everything. I spent most of my time exploring, imagining that my sso life was real so that I could just relax in this "other life" and go sight seeing. I only ever started paying attention to the story when they let us play Starshine legacy during one of the anniversaries. From there my infatuation just took off. I also played a little bit of Starshine academy too, but that game was entirely in a different language. Still, I started getting invested in SSO lore and realized it deserves waaay more credit than people had been giving it. People think of SSO and think "oh, barbie horse girly game" no, it's surprisingly much more complex than that.
The reason why I still linger around, despite the drastic changes in graphics, is because I still like horses and I like reminiscing. I still play the other star stable season games when I reeaally wanna teleport back to classic SSO. Another reason why im still around is because I discovered how big the map is SUPPOSED to be. They have hinted with recent quests that we will be going to places beyond what we see on the map. And me, an explorer, is very curious to see what differs from the future map to the og map in the season games. While I seriously hate how theyve changed the star riders and dark riders, ive mostly gotten over it. I find the new quests pretty boring, ive almost completely checked out on the story too unfortunately. I will always prefer classic SSO to the one we have now, and that is just my unbiased opinion after experiencing everything and weighing the changes. Another reason, albeit smaller, is that I just like the horses they put out. I have this random urge to collect and collect. It is what it is.

when i found sso was back in 2018 but i didn't start playing until 2020. when i did start it was because i watched Violet Flowergarden play so much and it looked so fun, for the first two years i played i didn't get star rider but in 2023 i did, when i did i was so excited until i realized how buddy a lot of the quests are right now, that's something i hope they can fix for players who will also be starting later than i did.

I started playing a few years ago, I started because I saw all these people playing and enjoying although I’ll never get to experience the original star stable I’ll say that even if I did, I wouldn’t necessarily be mad that they removed it. Some people need to understand that this made the game soooo much more fun for newer players! For the future, personally I’m really excited to explore the new areas, do the new quests and finish the lore, but also spend time with the main point of the game: horses. Though something they should fix is reputation. I hate it, many people agree, it just takes to long and makes everything so confusing, if they keep reputation, they need to find a way to organize it so that players don’t get overwhelmed and quite, like I did for a long time. On the other hand though, just as you said it’s ok to take a break!

I started playing SSO about 9 years ago when I saw an ad on TV while on summer vacation. since we were on vacation at the time, there was no PC to download it on, so poor little me had to wait 2 weeks to get home and play the game. I played SSO until I got to level five, trying to build the bridge to Wolf hell Inn and got stopped by the game. Then I begged my parents to buy me lifetime Starrider because "If you buy monthly all the time, it'll be wayyy more expensive anyway!". They didn't believe me of course where I brought up an argument similar to yours, actually. "No, it's true because I'll play the game until I'm super old!". My parents agreed to buy me monthly for now and a few months later - for Christmas - I was surprised with lifetime Starrider, making me eternally happy. Nowadays I return to make sure my digital horses don't die, to play the story, and to keep this account alive that me and my mom both used to play on. I loved that period of my life and that good bit of bonding we did where she did the painstaking leveling of the horses to 15 and then would watch over my shoulder as I played the story quests :D. I remember that time of my life fondly so even now I make sure to level all my horses to 15 instead of 13 and I keep my mom roughly updated on the story even though she doesn't have time to play anymore.

i loved the mixture of an mmo with horses and a good storz game (for me the story seems to be no priority and somehow very lost. The world doesnt make sense to me anymore). But I still keep coming back! I try so damn hard to find an alternative, but honestly there is none. One other reason is the amount of money that I spend and I dont want to give up and admitt to myself that this money was not well spend.

@@johanna7096 The fact that it is a horse game is definitely what got me into it in the first place. I love horses and after my brother showed me The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess I was on a mission to find more games to play. When I started playing I was about 8 or 9 so I really had no idea what was going on period during that time. XD However, i grew to love the game in my early teens and those are the days I remember so fondly. Finding really good horse games is quite the challenge, there really isn't anything like it at all. It's unfortunate but also neat at the same time, in my opinion. I wouldn't say the amount of money I have put into it is what drives me to keep playing, however there is always a mental note in my mind.😅 I think what makes it worth it is the enjoyment you find in it; that this is rather time well spent. Just some food for thought there. As for the story, I have heard so many say they have no idea what is going on, and just like you said, that it doesn't feel prioritized. I only half agree, I do think the creators of the game are working on the story and their effort into it has improved greatly over the years. I look forward to the day it begins to feel more complete which is why I'm excited for all the changes they have been making to it lately. Maybe the story has skewed from what it once was, but I still think the story to be at least enjoyable. However, I do understand where you are coming from. Thank you for sharing!

@@cynnfraure tank you for sharing your story! I do find some joy in the game and I like some of the improvements made. I understand its not a studio like Rockstar and I dont expect them do deliver work from the same quality and quanitity! Not at all! I just hope that they dont just focus on the new players/money, but instead try to keep the old ones as well. We ask for a lot and need to be paitient :) I think pointing out the good alongside the bad is always the best! For example: I adore the latest about 12 coat colors, but I think the selle francais moves like most horses with shivering or bad athrisis. But I like the model overall and think its fitting for the breed (as long as it stands still)

sort of off-topic question before i begin yapping-what horse were you riding during the video?
anyway, i started playing SSO in mid-to-late 2012, right after it made its debut in america. i would beg my dad to let me use his laptop for hours, despite how much he had to work, and asked even more frequently for star rider and star coins for all of the cool clothes, pets, and beautiful horses i wanted to add to my collection. for me, star stable was my way to escape from all of the family and at-home issues that i was dealing with. when i first downloaded the game, i was in 2nd grade going on 3rd grade, and i was already dealing with so much. i still so vividly remember the hot pink screen greeting my excited little eyes, and the orange cat sharing all sorts of tips that would soon help me better explore the world of jorvik. as soon as i logged in, i fell in love with the world. it became my secret home-away-from-home where everyone loved me and was so kind. i was able to life out so many of my equestrian dreams, all while making friends with so many characters and players along the way. it made me feel so happy and light inside as i explored the vast land of jorvik, a feeling that will be forever ingrained in me. crazily enough, for a while (around 2013-2014), i loved my SSO horses almost as much as my two horses in real life for as long as i had them! 😭 everything was so colorful, so fun, and so mysterious… i felt that i had a real purpose in jorvik. i felt that all of my help, even with the littlest of side quests, was actually appreciated-i felt so *special* while playing star stable, more special and more wanted than i ever felt in real life.
now, over 12 years later, as my life has continued to become more complex with age, i long for that feeling. i chase after it hopelessly despite knowing i’ll never catch it in my hands ever again. i know it’s useless to try, but i still have a bit of hope that someday, i may be able to see old star stable again and reunite with that second life i once loved so much.

I would love to see a revamp on all of the npcs and even more story quests. I love the events but the real thing that has drawn me in has always been the story and my attachment to it. I started around the beginning of the pandemic, mainly because I was left at home a lot while my parents worked and I couldn't ride my own horse until they got back, so I wanted a game that let me do that digitally and with mostly realistic graphics, which is what I found with SSO. I still play because of how immersive the game is, and how real the quests feel (even if I take orders from a talking blue squirrel) and they do such a good job of it in my opinion. I feel like it would be really cool if they let us have our foals from the SS Horses app in he game while they're still foals and let them follow us, or be able to ride double with other players. Also tying our horses to posts would be really cool.

I'm a player since 2012 and it's... weird for me. I'm 25. I stopped playing around 2017 and spent years without coming back. I play a lot of games, some of them for years and one of the things I realized is: SSO is literally my beginning. I love open-world story games. And what upsets me the most is, I left for the lack of content and the start of having too many horses for sale... I decided to come back to check out the content and hopefully immerse myself again in all I've lost, only to realize everything changed - and I'm fine with the visual changes - but I mean the feeling of the story and even how much story there has been since then. I only saved Anne and met a new Dark Rider and opened the Devil's Gap and that... is it? In 7 years? And Fripp was sick for 10 minutes.
And I only had like 30 new quests, and 15 of them were new races?
And 7 of them became reputation quests? I left with only archeology to finish to return to having 8 reputation quests instead?
I loved the hollow woods system and I think it's the only thing that is making me returning and I love that we get more XP now, but it's so sad to see so many new horses around and so little quests, I've been gone for years! :\
I still love SSO, but it's hard to see that I've been playing other games since 2015 and enjoying them vs SSO where I've been gone for years and still understand why I left. It's a weird feeling, to long for something but to get fed up with that same thing...

What keeps me going with this game is friends. I know people tell me be careful online and don’t trust everyone online. Well I don’t care. My friends are my friends. And in some ways just the horses, I’m not talking about new releases, I’m talking about the feeling of being around them. Even if they are pixels. I’ve always loved horses there beauty there speed everything about them. And I can’t afford to own a horse but me a 12 year old to feel the constant buy horses buy tack from Sso is hard. I need many breaks. But just being able go ride horses around in the game for 5 minutes is good enough for me. I sometimes ride so it feel like a fun way to connect. Ik I sound so cheese rn.

I started playing while I was between finishing up college and getting a full-time job. My time was abundant but my resources limited for entertainment so I wanted a distraction from the "blahs" of job hunting during the winter. Star Stable re-ignited that horse-obsession I had as a 'tween and as I got into the plot, I was delighted by the magical and ecological aspects too.
I have to resort to playing mobile until I save up for a new PC, and the clunky chat function has meant I don't interact with the other players much and see toxic comments, which is fine by me. I continue playing for the entertainment/escape aspects and to play "dress up" with my avatar and horses.
For anyone wanting to feel the spirit of the game again, I recommend running with the wild horses on South Hoof at dusk.
Thank you for your thoughtful video, Cynn. I am rooting for you to get that SSE game designer "dream job" in the future!

My first time playing this game was during the holidays in 2014. I remember as a 11 year old kid seeing commercials about the game and evantually persuing a free demo account to see what the game is about. It was a wonderful experience. I didn't have many friends at the time but met so many people online at Star stable that became my friends whenever I logged in. In 2015 I paid for a lifetime starrider subscription and got to do so much more quests and stuff. From then on to 2019/2020 I played every single day a couple of hours till a day blocker appeared for multiple quests. And when I got older and completed all available content I just played less and less up till the point where I didn't log in anymore. Mabye it's because I'm older now and have other priorities in my life but mabye it's also because there isn't much stuff to do nowadays in the game. I only come back to the game whenever the main story continues or if a new area opens up. For me to start playing this game was about the adventure it has with the main storyline. I don't care much for horses and back then when I was a child they mostly released quests and huge events so that was fun to do. And now that they mostly focus on horses and updating older content I sort of lost interest I think in the game. I think it's mostly because I'm older now and have other priorities in my life.

Honestly, I dont remember how I came across star stable. It mightve been that I overheard one of my classmates talk about it, or I mightve seen it from Cookieswirlc (or her star stable channel, honeyheartsc). Either way, I do remember spending a while on the character creation trying to make it look just like me, and even trying to give my character the same initials as me. I remember having to ask my mom for help with adding the emails, and something happening that caused all the work I spent trying to get my character just right get tossed out the window and randomized. I don't remembered exactly when I started playing, but I wanna say it was in 2017 I think. I had a free acount for the longest time, no star rider, which was fine of course until I ran out of free quests. I got the monthly star rider every so often, and I remember the second I learned how to jump I would just jump any opportunity I had, it was my favorite thing in the world! I think eventually in 2019 I asked for the lifetime star rider as a christmas present. I had a blast with the quests, I used to roleplay a lot, and I think I mightve even joined some clubs for a while (something I dont really focus on now). I remember two specific friends of mine I made while playing, one of them I believe I met from roleplaying, and we would roleplay together when we were online. My other friend I think I met from a club? I remember staying up late to talk with her, and it was always nice cause I love night in star stable and how pretty the sky is. She actually brought me to the top of the mountain the red string trailride is on before the trail was thing. She said it was a secret spot and I think we went up there during the sunset so it was quite pretty. I still enjoy that place today.
I dont know why I still come back, I don't talk to those friends anymore, I dont roleplay, Im not interested in the clubs. I think it's mostly the story, seeing where our soul rider journey takes us and unlocking new areas and characters is fun. I don't come on too often, usually just when something big happens like an update to the main quest, a new unlocked area, or events like halloween and christmas. A few days ago though I got hit with a truck of nostalgia for the game and Ive been trying to watch videos for the lore of star stable (since I dont remember a lot of it cause of how long ago some of the quests Ive done), and I even started turning my playable character into more of an oc, developing lore for her and such. Its been really fun, I even spent the other night rambling to one of my friends about the game.
I remember spending one of my summer breaks playing the game all day every day. It was before I had my own room (cause I used to share with my sister), and I would play the game on my old laptop under the kitchen island (don't ask why, I for some reason would rather sit on the floor under the island rather than on the table or something). The first horse I bought after getting star rider was a gen 3 fjord horse whom I named Chancedancer. It was the first horse I leveled up to level 15 (yeah, it wasnt even my starter. Poor guy

I actually was playing another horse game and then someone told me about Star Stable. I don't know whether this was true or not at the time, but they said they worked for Star Stable. I had to wait until I got a laptop because at the time, I only had an iPad. But eventually, I would install Star Stable. As a kid, I was always looking for new games to play, whether they be bad or good, just anything that would entertain me. I grew to love the game a ton, I would log in every day to do the few dailies you could do as a non-star rider and of course, take care of my starter horse. I had to wait ages until I was able to get Star Rider. It is actually kind of funny how I got it. I was a huge fan of the Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron movie. I watched that movie more than any other movie out there, even to this day. It still stands on being one of my favorite movies. My mom also enjoyed the movie, and when she heard the actual Spirit (was actually the remake version of him) was in the game, she bought me Star Rider. Most people would buy a new horse right away, but me... I only had 1,200 star coins to spend, so I had to save my star coins for his apple to get him. I got him within 2-3 days of searching for him and doing the tasks needed, I even remember getting told it is time to sleep being that I was up so late trying to get him, haha. When I did eventually get him, he was all I would ride, and it was really fun. I would do quests, do dailies, I would do it all. I eventually got more and more star coins over the years. I do slightly regret the amount of money I've spent on the game over the years, but it is what it is.
Fast forward to present time, I still have Spirit in one of my Home Stable stalls, he hasn't left it since I got him, he's next to Rain now, as well. I would probably get the new mustang spirit model and Esperanza (his mom), but I can't really be bothered to spend much more on a game I barely even play these days. All you are able to do on the game is make your own fun. Once you complete all the reputation and quests, there is nothing else to the game except maybe training and doing championships. And eventually, those things get to be tedious and a bit boring. There is literally no reason to log into the game these days. The game has just turned into a game that just releases horses constantly and pops out discounted prices on things constantly. In my eyes, that is just the company being greedy and not really caring about the game and its players. There are so many bugs and glitches that need to be fix, and aren't. Recently, in the first time ever, I was thinking about deleting the game completely. The community is toxic and I've fell out of a bit of love for the game. There are so many other games that have new content consistently. So I don't think it is that I've grown out of the game, it is more that the game has turned into a bad game. There is a reason there are so many videos like this.
Wishes for the games: I would enjoy some nostolgia brought back to the game in some way being that SSO's old players are what made the game grow as much as it has. They are the ones that sticked around for the longest, they've seen SSO grow and change over the years. Some of this nostolgia may be old events that maybe are tweaked a bit to fit with the current times. I would also like there to be new content added to the game, and I don't mean a quest you can finish in 2-minutes. That is NOT content. The new content should be enjoyable and fulfulling. Not some sort of grinding event where you have to run around everwhere searching for the same stuff over and over again. We already have to run around everywhere for training. I actually thought the puzzles they added for the Valedale firefly thing was kind of nice since it challenged you a bit and you got rewards afterwards once you solved them. The updates don't have to be crazy good, but just give us SOMETHING. If SSO doesn't change things soon, more people are just going to move on to other games, like I will eventually if I don't see change soon.

I started playing because of my friend who was playing for years when he got me to start myself. I refused at first but he promised me really cool story if I give it a try so I did. I didn't like horses then but I love them now. And I keep coming back from time to time. I'm checking most of updates if there's something interesting but usually I dont do anything with that. I'm coming to play just to wonder around Jorvik, look at my horse and make a new outfit all of this just to chill out a bit in my stressful life. For me things being like this are fine, I just wish for more exciting events (like halloween) to be more often. I was very very disappointed when I saw there's no Cloud Kingdom this year because I was looking forward for this event for few months..

Hi Cynn I think they need a race across tne map for all the 20+ level riders where you get to open up North Link at that level and a reward like a bonnet or rug once you have reached it. It was odd not having the cloud kingdom but everyone on my server has loved the new Disco update and the beach party where we all meet and dance for hours, sometime you have to make lemonade out of lemons. I think that when the new gen5 Jorvik WB does come out it will be stunning and full of personality, I also would love to be able to personalise my stable with paddocks and little house of my own with a small garden as we have these in the game all ready. SSO has come so far, when you look at old SSO to now the graphic are stunning and the horses are beautiful now, they want to be around for a long time so this had to happen and they have been listening to us as well it just going to take some time to get it done. I"m look front to the next main quest update, hopefully we finally meet the new dark rider when it comes out ,hopefully soon. thanks Cynn for the video this was a breath of fresh air.

I do agree that most seem to love the new disco, even myself which I was surprised about. Just the way our character dances gives them so much life and I love it. I often find myself going AFK there while I wait for my garden to grow. I like you're idea about the garden as well. What would you imagine we would be able to plant there? Same as what we are able to in Valedale? Maybe treats for our horses like carrots or something else entirely? I am also excited for the new story quest and have been wondering myself when we would finally get the chance to meet the 4th dark rider. Thank you for sharing and I am very glad you found my video to be peaceful and took the time to rest from all the chaos going on right now in the community.

I don't play this game, but I do play Animal Jam, and the similarities between communities is insane. Every time they update the version of the game they're focused on (the one that makes the money), people go BIZERK asking why the update isn't on the "classic version" or when they'll add some hyperspecific thing that would benefit nobody but them. Chock full animosity. Rarely will people comment something positive about an update or new feature (etc), and when somebody DOES, others will dogpile them, accusing them of "sucking up to AJHQ" or whatever. It's ridiculous. Surely there's some overlap in the types of people who play Star Stable and those who play Animal Jam.

I even had it an extra month bc my parents forgot to remove the auto renew feature, soon enough I was spending so much time on sso my parents got tired of me hogging the family pc so for Christmas to my surprise I was given a blue laptop, lifetime star rider, 3K star coins, and some sso merch! I spent the entire day playing sso and buying the gen 1 fresian, Arabian, and north Swedish horse, I’ve played ever since but I am sad to see how much sso has taken away or completely broken and ruined

I wish we could finally save New Hillcrest Stable. I think they totally forgot about that. Also, I think the Kalters are gone for good :( The new Fjord just doesn't have the value of having had to WORK to be allowed to buy one.
Regarding housing - I recall when I did the Aideen's Plaza quests back in 2016 or so, we got a Sofa as a reward. So yeah, it looks nice in my wardrobe.
Why I started playing: Watched Let's Play videos and somehow the horsey thing and the pseudo-language of the NPCs tiggered my funny bone.
Don't really have anything currently that keeps me there except a small group of friends that meets there once a week to chat
What was a downer for me:
    - the changing of the main lore
    - the somewhat loveless removal of the Kalters
    - Unicorns. I know some of you love them, but I hate seeing this mythical, so, so rare creature that only the purest of the pure are allowed to even touch, be ridden left and right.
    - More and more horses, while prices for Star Coins shot up.
    - breaking the chat.
    What I like:
    - they have gotten better with their animations, much better. I do wish the somewhat comicky feel of the old horses could be preserved though, they are starting to look a little too realistic and it doesn't fit the mood of the game. But overall, the new models are really well done.
    What would really keep me:
    - Storyline updates, ability to replay some of the story races, choices that matter
    - More variety in leveling: choosing horse and rider stats.
    - Races where different stats matter and make a difference, which is motivation to train different horses for different disciplines, and change which one you're riding based on what you're planning to do.
    - Sprinting/Stamina system during races (similar to their old Starshine Legacy games)
    - Being able to craft stats onto equipment (don't mind if that's a grind quest, but just to be able to put stats I choose on a piece of equipment I like)

When I first found star stable, I couldn’t get star rider for over two years. I begged my mom every day, one day she bought me two months of star rider! I was overjoyed and played daily and leveled up so much. Once it ran out I got bored and stopped playing. My mom saw how bored I got not being able play it. My mom got me lifetime and I made a club. I have still stayed determined to it and try to make anyone in it interested. I do wish star stable gave us the joyful things like the cloud kingdom and such. Seeing them leave makes me sad because I remember how happy the festivals made me as a non star rider. I love the updates to the places but it also feels like the original, fun, star stable is now gone. As well as updating festivals and making them less fun, we rnt getting any new quests and it’s making things boring. One thing I do love is is how social sso lets us be, and wish players stoped being rude and making drama. I feel the players also make some ppl leave the sso community.

I'm a new player and i am so surprised that people only complain on the changes. While cash grabbing tactics are worth complaining (although every game does that now, just look at EA for example), I don't understand being mad that graphics or character models changed. If they wouldnt, new players would stop joining, cause this game would just look like and old game from 2000s. It would meet the same fate like for example Bella Sara. The game has its flaws but it looks much better. Like you said, they just have to work on the quests and it can be a really good, relevant game! Emotes not fitting the new character is not the most important thing.

A lot of og players fell in love with the vibe and character design and so when the game changes not only the looks of things, but the lore as well, it gets disappointing. I'd argue the changes to the lore and characters are less interesting than what they had started out as. They could've upgraded the graphics without changing the 2k style it originally had for its characters. I'm mainly talking about Lisa, she went from city girl to a country girl-- to just straight up a country girl born n raised-- which sapped aaall of her spunk that most people liked about her. I will say, in 2024 the game looks much more put together than it did in 2019-22, because thats when the big visual changes were being made and it looked a mess. I'm rambling, but hope this gave you insight. (I started late 2013)

City girl that was chosen by a horse is much less interesting than what they did now and I love Lisa as she is. Don't get me wrong, your opinion is your opinion and you have a right to it, but I'm just showing you that this opinion is influenced by the fact that you are playing this game for a long a time.

I would love sso to find ways to support clubs and teams better. the new riding arena and club arena were a really big step in the right direction, but for example being able to invite 20 or more people to a group would be great. also the club window. before the Update it was personal. now it doesnt even display the name of the club youre in. what if you could have a little shop within the club window, where you can buy the club outfit and horse for example.

My mom would always bring up how much I watched them and I explained to her the game and how much I wanted it because I have always LOVED horses and SSO just really stuck out to me. At first I downloaded the mobile stable thing where you can raise the SSO horse and then transfer it to the actual game, thinking that it was all in the app on my tablet and I was really confused until lil me did some research and found out you had to download it on your computer. Once lil me figured out how to download and finally play SSO I realized I wouldn't be able to do much without life time star rider so I begged and begged and made the same type of agreement you did with your parents lol and boom I finally had SSO on my moms computer. Once I had everything I needed to start I was ADDICTED to SSO for weeks because it was summer break when I got it, I would play 12 hours a day for months until school started again. One thing that made me feel really connected with SSO is the fact it was made the year and month I was born so when it was SSO birthday it was also like celebrating mine which I just found kinda cool! Now I do take a big month-long breaks and I still love the game and I still wanna keep playing for Violet :). ik my story was long but I also js wanted to also say I do really love your content even if your a "smaller content creator" I'm glad that there are still content creators who still support SSO

I do understand that the game needs to go forward and there have to be changes but changing the whole story and everything around it to not make sense is insane.
Nothing else is a problem except for the fact that they didnt stick with the original story and completly killed it. The greediness for money is not making it better honestly. All I want and ever wanted from the game, was to come back sometimes, look at it and be like 'that's the game i loved'. I started sso back in about 2020 (i was about 9) during the pandemic so I don't believe I'm qualified in any way to talk about the "old sso". The reason im still playing is because of the hyper specific lore i have constructed for my main character (if you want to hear it for some reason, it is in the replies). But that is a small fraction. I still play the game for the story, as i have not finished it yet. Also, being on a small server has a WAY different atmosphere than, say, NightStar. Im on freezing crater, which means more noobs being unloaded, so there is a sense of... Wholesomeness? Like, i was jst chilling by the fire pit in fort pinta, and this group of about 6 people just came up to me and asked if i wanted to come with them. Confused, i said yes and we just ran around in the field by the pony champ. I think after that i litteraly cried because of how... sweet that was?
Im not entirely sure the main reason im still playing, but i always find myself coming back to it once and a while.

SO BASICALLY, my main character, Maricia jewelgale, came to jorvik from south east India. She did have small experience with horses, with her older brother having a Marwari of his own. Back in India, she was a very social girl, but was often alienated from most social groups because of her associative synesthesia. Many thought she was a bit weird because of her way of speech was often cryptic and vague. When people told her to think of words or numbers, it would be difficult to see them in letter form as it would mostly be in colours (Example: a teacher would ask, "what's 3 x 3?" she would respond with "lavender?"). she often found herself writing in odd formulas and messages. She moved to jorvik at age 17, wanting to escape the norms of her old town in india.
When met Maricia her starter horse, (seal bay coat with black mane) metalhead, who was a very fiery and unaccepting gelding, she had finally known a true and worthy friendship. Since not many people on jorvik could speak hindi, her native language, she could speak to metalhead in small sentences that he could kinda figure out. when she finally met the soul riders, she found that she could talk to Linda the easiest, because of her rapid skills of absorbing knowledge and almost mastering her language immediately.
This is just the first part of many replies!

now, maricia was a VERY frail girl, so she didn't go on many soul rider missions. she mostly just spent her time doing barrels and poles with metalhead. when ever she rode back in india, she only ever did english, so western was new to her and she immediately fell in love with it.
then came the faithful day of a training session. alex was ordered to give maricia a lesson in dodging lighning strikes in pandoria. they decided to hold the session in pandoria itself, and that might have been the biggest mistake of all jorviks time. while maricia was dodging some of alex's "attacks" her magic became unstable and it was as if the essence of pandoria came through alex's magic and made it alive.
      Made it sentient.
The bolt of alex's lighting came and hit maricia, scorching and burning the ENTIRE left half of maricia's face. she was knocked off metalhead and fell to the ground screaming and shaking with pain. alex didn't know what to do, exactly, so she turned to lisa for her healing magic. when they made their way out of pandoria, the scar was already starting to form and it looked as if she had been shot, burned, and drowned even (little me was an edge lord ik). when lisa tried to heal maricia's scar, it flared up jorvikan pink and almost burned her hand. Maricia's left eye is now left permanently blind and left side of her mouth almost completely inanimate or unmovable. her burn left her not only physically damaged, but also mentally as well. she became extremely self conscious of the burn and would hide it behind a mask (specifically the willow-whiskers cat mask sold at the Halloween festival.) she had little motivation to do anything at all and would just stay in her room in the home stable.
Part three is on the way!

    • @jwelgale
      @jwelgale 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

But bad could only turn to worse. while maricia was away from her horse metalhead, the only thing monitoring him was himself. that is when the damn GLUEMAN (idk either but its to big of a plot point to change💀) had time to strike. he knew the importance of the star breeds and decided that the best target would be one that was not being monitored at all. maricia heard the cries of her horse and came out check on why he was making such a racket. when she came out it was practically too late. "नहीं! (no!)" maricia cried. she witnessed her horse's hooves being turned into glue and eventually...
The image of her star breed's graphic death stuck with maricia for days (again, younger me was an edge lord). After a week or so, she hosted a funeral for metalhead at doyles abbey, and she stayed far later than all the other soul riders and druids. when she was walking back to firgrove, she knew she was in for the long haul. on her way back however, she encountered a large, jet black dog. he was neatly shaven and appeared to be a German shepherd, but he was lying on the grass, seemingly on his last legs. Maricia felt drawn to the hound, and she walked over to it and crouched down to see it better in the dark night.
      "निष्प्राण... (lifeless...)" she muttered and a small tear dripped drop her face. as the tear fell to the dog, its eyes opened. maricia backed away from the dog, afraid. then, the animal stood up and slowly changed itself into a black paso fino with a grown out roached mane. in shock, maricia fell to the ground and the horse laid down beside her. She heard a distored, deep voice in her mind;
      " तुम्हें मुझे बचा लिया। आपने मुझे ठीक कर दिया है. मेरे दाँत तभी तेज़ होते हैं जब तुम्हें उनकी ज़रूरत होती है, जब तुम्हें उनकी ज़रूरत होती है तब वे कुंद हो जाते हैं। मैं अपनी समय पर मृत्यु तक आपकी सेवा करूंगा जो एक साथ रहेगी। मैं आपकी हूं तुम मेरे हो। तुम मेरी बात सुनोगे और मैं तुम्हारी बात सुनूंगा। हमेशा के लिए। हम कभी अलग नहीं होंगे. हमेशा के लिए। मैं तुम्हारा हूँ और तुम मे्रे। हमेशा के लिए, हमेशा के लिए, हमेशा के लिए। "
"(You saved me. You have healed me. My teeth are sharp only when you need them, they become blunt when you want them. I will serve you until our timely death which will be together. I'm yours you're mine. You will hear to me and I will hear to you. Forever. We will never be apart. Forever. I'm yours and you are mine. Forever, forever, forever.")

The only reason star stable is alive is because it has no direct competition. Which is also why the people behind the game don't have to worry about keeping it's players engaged, cause no other game is going to take it's playerbase.

Are you studying game design? Because i wanna do it, but in my country where uni is normally free, i'd have to pay to study game design. On top if that I'm quite scared of not findig a job after, as it is a though field to get into. Do you have these concerns too?

    • @cynnfraure
      @cynnfraure  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

I am studying game design as well as UX/UI design. I live in the USA so I do pay for my tuition. I also have many job options when I finish my studies, specifically internship programs some companies, like Riot Games, offer. I've never really been afraid of taking risks. Games are one of the fastest-growing industries today, so I wouldn't be too worried about job options. Life is full of curve balls and failures; use them to grow as a person and a professional. I always like to say that if you put your mind to it, anything is possible. Not to mention, I plan on just creating my own game. I've learned enough in Web Design and UX Design that I am able to actually launch my own website development business. That is generally how I plan on using my degree, I am just learning for myself because I am passionate about the field. If you want to study game design, then do it! Don't be too worried about what comes after or overthink it too much. There's always the option of trying something different, but you'll have learned a new skill you can take with you to so many places. If it is your passion, go for it! Believe me, I know how difficult paying for school can be. I should be well graduated by now, but I have had to take my classes really slowly because of how expensive it is. Just take your time and do what you love!

As a new player but i do know how of old sso was since as in childhood i couldnt play it but i could watch videos.
I am a mobile player since its the only way i can actually play this game. It also needs some tweaking as there are glitches with the mobile side of it. I dont think it should stay just exclusively pc because some people just want to experience the game if they never or cant own a pc/laptop.
What bothers me more as a newer player is how boring and twisting the lore is, most of the time i dont even read the dialog and just find my way around to complete the quest.
Dont get me wrong, i love the newer models and improving the graphics of the game, but, with some older players, (not all of them trust me) they complain that the newer characters are ugly, the newer horse models is bad, etc. I feel as if they are good, some things do need some tweaking if most. Change is always happening and thats something those older players need to understand. The game cannot stay with scrappy horse models nor 2000s vibe graphics or otherwise it would lose everyone besides the original players. I think they did do the right thing with the graphics n all, but, i do disagree with the lack of events, or events having lack there of everything because the way the joyful older players were talking about it, i was excited for it to, just to be met with a 'willy wonka cosplay meetup' vibe (if ykyk). And how hard it is to level up, i disagree with that, its so much grinding and not enough things to keep it interesting besides releasing newer horse revamp models and doing clubs.
Overall, i do hope they update events and make them 10x better, and i hope that more places will be released and more tack styles.
I also forgot to mention, i do want star coins to be cheaper along with star rider. Personally i cant buy lifetime star rider right now because money is tight. Because for almost 100 dollars it feels almost not worth it since its just became a bland game, the only time i hop on is to ride my horses around moorland, train them in three different races and log off. I hate that newer players who dont have star rider HAVE to pay in order to go to newer places and that just honestly seems unfair. If anything, Star rider should be basically premium. (More time to leave the game and your horse to be in good condition, extra star coins, exclusive tack and outfits, stuff that would be premium) I would like to explore other places and get the feel of the game before i decide to buy star rider, besides riding to and from moorland and fort pinta. When i first joined, i did not get a feel of the game because i was so strictly limited to where i could go. But, instead, Star Rider is a pass you are forced to buy just to be able to go to different places, earn 100 something star coins every Saturday, and lolly gag around.

i'd just set the music volume a bit lower so it wouldn't be as loud when you're talking

I literally only come back for the cute clothes and horses... thats it.
Nothing about the game is fun anymore for me. Quests are just... badly designed. They used to be so good. You didn't have to watch 30 second long cinematics of characters staring at eachother. You didn't have to read 100000 pages of dialogue from Mrs Holdsworth about something you'd rather figure out organically on your own. The characters were also a lot more relateable and interesting. Think about it. Anyone could be like Lisa or Linda back in the day. Lisa was just kind of a punk teenager with seemingly divorced parents and she lived with her Dad who worked for a strange company. Now she's the most unrelateable character ever with a dead mom yet living the dream on a ranch writing country songs about friendship. It's just so not the vibe. The old quests were better for the reasons the characters were either funny or relateable. Not boring as cardboard. Also, you simply were given a task and you went and did it. Or you had something to figure out sometimes. Those are the quests I prefer! Show not tell. It honestly seems the writers forgot that concept entirely. I originally joined for the horses and stayed for the story, now I'm only staying for the horses again, then logging off to play other games and dreading having to do any new quests that come out. It's more of a chore now than fun for me.
I don't join Clubs anymore. Night Star global drama and swearing at night is a pain to watch, and Clubs are full of drama with clubs hating eachother over things like opinions on politics, whether or not you agree with LGBTQIA+ or if you vote for Trump. Stupid things like that. Personally, I'm a lesbian, and I never cared if people don't accept me. *Because I accept me, and I just do what I want.* A lot of people on the game are teenagers and figuring themselves out, or have not gotten help for childhood trauma, or are just super insecure. And one way of letting that out is by bullying/fighting other people. According to research, teens literally have pecking order brains and will bully the weakest chicken in the coop. Try it out. If you show any sign of weakness in Global if you have a controversial opinion, and people WILL bully you instantaneously. Once those teens move out and pay their own bills, they will realize their gender identity and sexual expression means nothing, and all that really matters is making sure you can feed yourself and your pet dog, and actually enjoy the small hours you have outside of work. I'm sure
I don't roleplay anymore. Mainly because today's roleplayers are very bad. All of the good roleplayers only do it in discords or rp by themselves in RRP instagram pages, or simply don't have time for it anymore. Plus the player character is no longer cute or satisfying enough for me to play with and focus on. Ever since the update, I can't get it out of my head that my character resembles an overgrown toddler with saggy boobs and a diaper butt. So that only leaves Wild Roles and those are the worst rps to join, so you can forget it.

i found the game by my cousine who loved horses. now im only here for my club and to see the game fall apart. might sound ccruel but sadly the game isnt saveable anymore i dont think so at least. i know you said positivity but a game thats actively dying cant be that positive anymore there are no more white nights who said that they are trying or starters who defend them and its sad to se but i doubt positivity will solve anything the code is a mess they killed the story half the world stuck in the past it doesnt matter how much praise the horses get if the game isnt playeable anymore. i dont have a problem with the weekly updated that only add things to buy but only if they would fix the bugs the horses or something but its not showing. im replayeing the older games and i dont think its just nostalgia bc i never read the things on the screen as a kid that couldnt read but as i read the old ones they are so well written and now? its gone i feel cring reading my own language.wich shouldnt happen bc im reading books other games and stuff. the game clearly wont survive at this rate and as sad as i am to see it im glad they wont torment an accually once good game anymore the caracters the horses the style the story im not mad that they changed it im mad at how they did it thats it. i absolutly love the game but it needs a rest now bc theres just so much wrong with it

I do still love the story despite it's changes and many of the original quests are still there. I think the difference lies within Starshine Legacy and SSO, which makes me quite sad. This however would be very interesting to look into; to deep dive into what has canonically changed. 😊 much love! ❤️❤️

2019 for me . I dislike the community. They are either hateful trolls or whiney babies that don't understand ALL gaming companies are greedy and they need to be to be able to keep the game going. However, even when I have all the chats muted and I ignore everyone in the game. It's charming and cute . Gives you many fashions and looks to play with for both you and your horse. Its a cute game to play here and there to escape anything else that can feel like a chore. I love my main games like Conan Exiles, RDR2 online , and WoW . However there are times i need a breaks from the grinds in those games and find myself enjoying those breaks on sso.
