I am a very experienced at fixing my own stuff and the Fujitsu S510 Scanner is the most challenging device I've disassembled, repaired and reassembled. Fujitsu does not make it easy or intuitive and without this video several times, my scanner would be in a landfill. With Luis's video, I was able to replace all 4 rollers from Ebay for $8.79 US and I learned how to repair scanners. Thank you Luis Sousa
I"ve used this a couple of times and can't say enough how much I appreciate you taking the time to make it. Really speeds up the removal and reassemble portions of the chore.
Obrigado, Luis Sousa. Excelente trabalho. A nota? Não, não é 10, é 1.000.000. Obrigado!
Just replaced the rollers in my scanner, your video was very helpful, thanks. It took me 90 mins; your video is just 40 mins. So I guess you are quite experienced. Well done + thanks again!
Gave up at 12:30 - struggling to get roller axle out, realizing still need to do exit rollers, AND then reassemble. This is like removing the dashboard of a car to replace the oil filter. I had bought my wife the Epson ES-400 II, just wanted this one for occasional scans in my office. Will probably buy another Epson, as it works really well.
Great video, thanks. I followed it step by step and got my rollers changed (in my case I had managed to order new ones) ..its worked perfect...but now it says ´Failed to calibrate Optical Scanner` The optical system on the scanner is in error.............any idea what I can do ....HELP PLEASE
Great video....except I think it could make it more clear how you remove the gears from the roller shafts. That is the most difficult part IMO. You have to pull apart a tab and apply pressure outward from the bottom of the gear carefully as to not break the plastic.
Very good video but my god...what a horrible, horrible design by Fujitsu. You pretty much have to completely disassemble the whole unit to get to those rollers. It's like you having to fully disassemble your car to change the tires. I have an S510 with melty, sticky rollers just like this here and this is what I'm faced with. I might look for another brand of similar scanners for my future purchase after reviewing that for ease of maintenance and repairs. Thanks for the great video Luis!
I have an S1500 and the assembly looks similar. Question, due to the work rollers, the machine makes a machine gun like sound right? My rollers are melting looking but I want to make sure that is the cause. Thanks, great video.
It is amazing what you did. It is something I would like to do to mine S500 which I have for 27 years, and I love it. I just wonder if you would do it and how much you would charge for it...? I am in S. East Florida. Sincerely Sam 😊
Hello Sam. Thanks for message. I'm very far from S. East Florida. I'm on the other side of the Atlantic. I live in the Azores - Portugal. You will definitely find someone near you to carry out the repair. Compliments.
Nicely done, I only had a couple of challenging moments. The diameter of the 4 rollers would be good to know... too large and they'll bind, too small and they won't grab the paper. Only one or two shots that were blocked and I had to guess. Good job, and appreciated. Thanks
You can buy replacement 'exit' rollers on the internet, as these are the same over a variety of fujitsu SnapScans; a quick search will show you a number of sources. I still find it incredible That the maintenance options for a lot of the Scansnap scanners include the feed rollers which wear pretty well, and are easy to replace, but not the exit rollers which age to a messy goo!
Wait a minute…. Why do you even need to disassemble the unit if all you are doing is wrapping tape around the roller? I was able to get the old sticky rubbers off without disassembling. I will try to wrap the tape now since I can turn the rollers while in place.
Misson Accomplished, but, I have 2 screws left..... ARGHHHH!!! I also must have misrouted a cable and was tricky to get the last connecter on the board. Also popped a wire out of one of the Motherboard connectors, but no biggie I got it on with needle nose. Feeds great now, scans straight off the bat. No errors. The 2 screws will nag me forever (not doing it again for a while). There was an odd ball 2 wire connector that goes to red lens that looks like a page detector or something. It doesn't actually plug into anything, just sits in the len assembly. If anyone has any idea if that has a function, or if it just decoration, I am curious.
HELP! I am reassembling my S500 and am stuck. See the cable with three connectors at 7:14 - 7:19. The connectors are of three sizes. I know where the larger two connects go, but for the life of me, I can't find a socket for the smallest connector which is a 3-pin connector with 2 wires. Can anyone tell me where it goes? Is it possible that this connector is only used in the S510???
Can't see what you are doing because your hands are in the way and you aren't explaining anything. The average person would be insane to take their scanner apart like this, and is it necessary to just replace the tires? You are very rough handling this scanner. I take it you don't work for Fujitsu and that you were not trained by them. Thank you, but no thank you.

there was no before only the after, but seeing it worked puts a smile on my face
Disassembled, removed the disintegrating rollers, managed to slide on new rollers, reassembled, and worked on the first attempt. Thank you!

Please see my comment above. Do you know where that small connector goes?

Hi!
What is the solvent you use to clean the axle?
Gábor from Hungary

Thank you for sharing the video. Very interesting.
What kind of tape ( the yellow one) you used to make roller rubber?
Hi,

分解修理出来ました。ありがとうございます。感謝!感謝!!

Eu tenho um s1500 .troquei os roletes e tá dando erro no sistema optico ..conseguiria me ajudar ?
Thank you for sharing the video, is there any video that replace both side Fujisu scansnap S510 Feed Roller
Waiting for reply
Thank You.
Will this work on the S1500 too?
What solvent can be used to remove spilled rubber roller residue?
It has become like a chewing gum
I used alcohol and a bit of patience ;)
Gasoline works really well. Once done, clean off with brake clean to remove the gasoline residue. This washed off with dish soap and dried.
Just roll the silicon off... it will come off cleanly without solvent. That's what mine did.

I found replacement shafts with rollers on eBay for under $20 for a set.

Hi Sammy. The cable you're talking about can only be from one of two places: the main board or the small board I remove at minute 6:22. Hope I helped.
Great video. Congrats!
Amazing! Thanks!!!
As your method I success repair my scanner🥺🙏
Leider hat diese Anleitung nicht geholfen.

My advice, don't take any of your electronic stuff to a shop for repairs. This is exactly how 'rough' we handle your shit.
Yes, it is. And thank gawd he did this. I just finished replacing my rollers and his video was extremely helpful.
