    Informative video! I've had the no water sample for two other reasons as well.
    1 - Dirty mixing chamber. Water was filling, but wasn't being read by the optical sensor. I cleaned the chamber with a Q-tip.
    2 - Detritus buildup between solenoid 3 and the manifold, causing clog.

    Thanks for posting this. One additional step if both waste line and sample line are clear and you still have problems. The black manifold can potentially clog. If you remove all of the tubes, you can flush it by carefully syringing warm water through each port. You can selectively close them with your fingers to increase the volume that flushes through individual ports. It's fiddly. Note the orientation of the ports before disassembly. The 3 reagent ports are larger diameter than sample and waste. The small diameters can certainly clog (mine took 18 months) but I believe they are necessary for the precise droplet size required in such a small test volume. Some sort of prefilter would help, but you will still have biofilm to deal with eventually.

      That's a super helpful comment. I had cleaned the manifold but re-connected it wrong, I thought the thicker ports connected to the sample and drain., no wonder it didn't work.

    Thanks for this, man! Worked like a charm.

    Thank you for posting this! I had this right out of the box, too. The rubber lines obviously need some rethinking.

      Agreed, those rubber lines are way too small.

    Great video, thanks for posting. This helped me unclog my water intake, as well as the manifold itself (using a tiny sewing needle)

    Damn dude I just got my Trident today. Having the same issue 😂. What can we do besides laugh? Lol gonna go through this video again and follow your steps. Thank you and I appreciate the video! Seems like many people are having the same issue.

    Thanks for posting, just installed mine only to have the Sample line pinched/kinked. Used the needle syringe from a Red Sea test kit and couldn't get any water to push through, and I visibly could see a pinch... I tried to massage it out but didn't work.

    Would this fix also work for the “Test A Fail” message, it just came up in my trident. Thanks

    Did you flush only the tube connected to #3 or did you use the syringe to flush water through #4 also?

    • @PurelyAquatic
      @PurelyAquatic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used the syringe to flush water on both lines 3 and 4.

    There’s only one pump in the Trident; what you call pumps are solenoid valves that are all connected to a manifold in the center

    For how much you pay for this equipment it shouldn’t be clogged by any particles considering it’s brand new. Are these things qc’d before leaving the factory? They should be tested before shipping out. Consumers shouldn’t need to take apart new equipment and repair them… wondering if it’s this easy to clog these feed lines then why didn’t they use larger diameters? I know, less reagent used per test, but having to disassemble this frequently to maintain it doesn’t sound like fun. Alternatively they could’ve increased concentration of reagents to deal with larger sample size, but it’s just me going down the rabbit hole🤔. Just seems too finicky to be reliable, but let us know about the real world owner’s experience.

      I agree the lines should be larger in diameter. Probably would mean they would have to get a bigger pump/solenoid, which would mark up the price even more.
