@@apollox6365 Hey no problem. There's nothing like the sound of a highly strung NA engine. This is another amazing one if you haven't heard it. th-cam.com/video/cyqJxXolico/w-d-xo.html
i know im randomly asking but does any of you know of a trick to get back into an instagram account?? I was dumb lost the password. I appreciate any help you can give me.
Stunning.......I worked at a Ford Dealership in Arbroath Scotland in the 80’s.....mentioned the RS-1800...drove one off the the Transporter....PDI carried out...it was a 21st birthday present for a local Farmers young lad...
That 265 is impressive... What's more impressive is the fact it's running carbs 😊 I was lucky to find a spec rally car in a junkyard in Zimbabwe in 2004 completely intact. It's stored away until I can rebuilt in. Ford Cortina mk3 with a sweet 1.4 block and Cosworth name on the valve cover. Engine spins freely and the 4 speed cycle through all gears including reverse. I'm one happy camper.
I always remember being told how you can tell a good driver in an escort. They are always full on the throttle or they are braking. Nothing in between. I wish I had bought the 1600 crossflow rally car that l double entered back in the 80’s. What a sound on full chat.
Is there some where I can watch footage of the silver event he mentioned it sounded epic and id love to see some more of this beast in action 2nd outright is impressive good. Work guys 💪❤
Bit of old scuttlebut: - Many early Mk II rally cars had Mk I number plates and VIN plates as the authorities treated the Mk II as an upgrade not a new car. Hence why so many were very fast from day one. they all had Mk I running gear. Floorpan was actually Mk I ...... - The first 'full' rollcages weren't put in to protect the passengers they were to stop the A Post bending after a hard 'Yump' which stopped the doors closing. Especially after scaffold poles being inserted inside the A Post was outlawed ..... While I wouldn't argue with the owner as he knows what he bought. Having run a Lotus Cortina Mk I, an Escort Twin Cam and a Mk I RS1600 BDA (the last two ex works rolling shells) my memory tells me all rally engines were called by the generic 'BDA' although Cosworth named the 1701 cc RS1600 engine from 1971 the 'BDB' and the fuel injected version 'BDC' while a 'BDG' was actually a Formula Atlantic engine of 1975 cc from 1973. Aluminium blocks first appeared on the BDG but as engines were rebuilt especially by Hoyle those blocks were used in place of the iron blocks and which also allowed the later 1800cc RS1800 Mk II. The 1700cc in my RS1600 was an aluminium blocked engine was a 'BDA' 'from a man in Essex' with a ZF 5 speed 'box from another Essex lad Terry Samuell So many great memories from the '70s rushed back just seeing and hearing this car.
Always been a dream of mine been a sport iv always followed got it from my dad him and mate rallied in the 80s and recently they rebuild a mk1 escort from the ground up real tidy car with a BDA engine and he’s rallying again were from Ireland and he competes in the MSA BHRC been going well the last few years
Fantastic car! I used to do road rallies in the 70:s with various Volvos. The best produced roughly 160 hp on the flywheel! Guess if I was envious of the guys who could afford these Escort MK II:s? I do not think they produced 260 hp on the rear wheels then though. More likely around 200-220 hp.
Its a bit more than a deturbod cosworth engine but yes BDA BDG are one of the best sounding normally assperarated engines along with the GAA can you tell a like old fords own one
fuel lines, oil lines to and from the engine, also all wiring is inside the car, engine is dry sump so oil tank is in the boot only maybe 2 lts of oil in the sump at any time!!
How come they dont have fully sealed cam belt covers ?. You would only need a stone flicking up and going into the inside of that belt. And its game over.
Cam covers on gravel rally cars are really rare (or in motorsport in general). It just makes working on the car that bit faster when you don't have to remove bunch of useless stuff. Never heard of anyone getting in to any trouble with stones between the gears. I have heard of a stone giving trouble on closed up cam gear thought. If the cam cover cracks or for any other reason doesn't seal up properly, a stone can get in and wreak havoc, because it'll have really bad time trying to get back out again :)
I had around 5 mk2 escorts when I was younger and all but one were terrible handling cars, slightly damp road and a slight bend was a guarantee of a fishtail , and that was a mere 1600cc they had character but compared to modern stuff my Nissan van would be quicker and better handling and that’s a 1395 turbo diesel , and that’s not exaggerating, but like the Capri and mk3 cortina they all had some good points compared to equivalent Vauxhall’s of the day ,, and most modern day cars lack character, unless you buy something expensive and unique cheers Shane uk 🇬🇧
Because WRC is a European thing, and ford of america gave ford of Europe complete control of the program, so they used their own cars, also apart from the European performance models, Americans back then preferred their S.U.V's and muscle cars, to small family type saloon type cars, so they were never imported officially, but you could get them imported by a 3rd party, but only rally emphuseists tended to import them. you did get the Sierra Merkur XR4Ti which was a pretty good car which was called just the XR4 in europe, but it was no Sierra rs500 cosworth, but it was still good
Not a proper GP 4 car with wrong box, corsa PAS..No way 265 hp at wheels...RS1600 was the first of the "twin cams" not RS1800...the first of the Twin cams WAS the Twin cam...please get correct info before trying to educate people who know these cars...
What's in this Ford RS Escort? Just hot air. Lol. Well with all those massive spotlights restricting and disrupting the airflow, it could get 'a wee tad warm'.
hothothotmale I bet you would be complaining about not being able to see shit in the middle of a forest trying to navigate in pitch black darkness... there's a reason for those dirty great big lights mate
love the fact it still has the welsh dragon on the plates!
Damn FullBoost you blue balled the fuck out of me. How can you tell me it revs to 10k rpm and then end the video with it idling?
Listen to this instead. th-cam.com/video/oQMln74M2cU/w-d-xo.html

Just a beautiful car and my favourite car of all time, BDG was the 2.0l alloy block, all the BD engines just loved and needed to be reved hard.😎
Thank you for sharing this, loved it. Ooo so nice, followed you 👍
10-10500 rpm on light throttle!! How bloody awesome is this thing!
What interest me most is the front auxilliary lights
I love lights !

What a car! Phenomenal 👌
That is a gorgeous car.
Dam i wanted to hear a 10500rpm rev
Here you go. Just listen to the induction sound from this thing. One of the best sounding motors ever.
th-cam.com/video/oQMln74M2cU/w-d-xo.html
Damn you - that brought tears to me eyes. Something about the webbers, they sound better than ITB's. Maybe the chokes. Thanks :)
The induction noise from that Escort was awesome, Thanks for that.
Go watch frank Kelly if unwant to here a mk 2 sing 🤙

Damn my All time dream car... 1st in my 10 car dream list...
1.8L and 265whp? insane!!!
2lts in a BDG
My 1.8 TURBO Nissan 200sx only had 170 hp
Thx for keeping my welsh flag on it ❤️❤️

Modified sump over gearbox tunnel simple but effective
Absolutely beautiful.
Beautiful car
Its a bit more than a deturbod cosworth engine but yes
BDA BDG are one of the best sounding normally assperarated engines along with the GAA can you tell a like old fords own one
H gear box or sequential ?
Just awesome thank you
could you come race in finland to rovaniemi (arctic lapland race) january
are those fuel lines inside the cabin?
fuel lines, oil lines to and from the engine, also all wiring is inside the car, engine is dry sump so oil tank is in the boot only maybe 2 lts of oil in the sump at any time!!
Yup but those will withstand bloody gunfire. No worries there.
Great car 👌👌
why’s it still on uk plates, and why do Aussies/New Zealanders always go up an octave when they finish a sentence?
Sump over gearbox, what's that?
What a Weapon.....Good video, that thing would be Very Fast......Classic Rally Cars are the Best.
cool video!
Very nice!
Awesome monster..real classic weapon.
Great ralleye lights
My mates brother had a rare mk2 harrier I think was a 2200 , the only one I’ve ever seen shane uk 🇬🇧
No genuine harrier then they where 1600 xflow mine ran a 1660 with twin webbers

In 20 years of motorsport road racing and rally, i have never seen a BDA or BDG lose a belt to rocks. Fuckin' awesomest engines ever. Bulletproof.

My youth hood, but with the lotus twin cam.
L.O.T.U.S. Lots of trouble usually serious. LoL
What's in a Ford Escort RS Group 4 rally car?
A lot of fun, costing a lot of money.
something around 150/175000 pounds
What accent is that? I''m confused
BEAST
265HP at the wheels from 2 lit NA. !! How much can you get out of a V8?? Amazing engine for the time.

You talk rubbish!
All rwd escorts are easy to drive, that's why they dominated rallies.
Shame you have no driving skills.
I drove this on rush rally 3
Even in standard trim rear wheel drive Escorts are great fun to drive.
Scottish/Australian accent is one I've never heard before
That's because he was doing a Welsh accent 😶
The classic rally in Africa is not in South Africa but in Kenya correct the info.
Why is Ford Europe get this and the Cosworths and all we have in the US is V6 Mustangs
BOPPEthose cars weren't designed in the US.. at least not the performed versions
