I love these two real people. Laura, superb athlete on a bike...(mmmmmmmm I love bikes, I have 4) and Guy....everything he does is blokey, interesting and what a mechanic.

My best friend was very fortunate to meet Laura at the Manchester velodrome some years ago and she inspired him to to join a cycle club and has never looked back since.

I was wondering whose house it was, that was until I saw the motorbike in the kitchen.
The bike was a rare Bimota V-due 500cc 2 stroke, which was meant to reinvent and keep high capacity 2 strokes on the road! Unfortunately they were plagued with fuelling problems so they were eventually and sadly abandoned :(

If you doubt how truthful Laura is being about how hard she trains you just need to look at how she races, she breaks all the 'perceived wisdom' on tactics and still wins!
There's plenty of footage out there of her 🤮 after putting herself through it on the track.

For all those who say I can do this or that because I have asthma, Laura trott is a 4 time Olympic champion who was born premature with a collapsed lung and asthma.

@@ryand141 Wrong. She had the collapsed lung etc at birth. Lots of other childhood asthmatics get into sport, especially swimming to develop pulmonary power to overcome the asthma (was common back in 1960s among my schoolmates). Then there's exercise induced asthma due to heavy exercise pulling stuff deep into lungs. So you exercise to overpower asthma you get in childhood and you get it from heavy exercise in later life. TUEs have been abused but they don't give an advantage they just stop the chest tightening up. Not like EPO or amphetamines etc. I don't have it but knew many from school onwards who did
They also don’t have multi million dollar facilities to train at or world renown sports medicine facilities.

Throwing-up is not a prerequisite of a good-workout. I suspect Laura is rare amongst professional cyclists (or any athlete engaging in high VO2-max work) in the frequency of her voms.

To be fair for the first time to be training HIIT, that looked pretty good!
The type of motorcycle racing he does, or did, requires quite a high level of fitness anyway. That, and cycling being a big hobby of his anyway gives him a solid platform to start from.

unless you have done 20 on 20 off you don't understand how gipping it is. Literally feels like those 20 seconds are a minute long!
Used to do those when I raced. Blocks of 6 x 3 with a 2 min rest between blocks. Called them pukers for the reason laura mentions.
Depends how you do them. You can do them around the middle of your anaerobic zone 6 and just do more of them or you can go flat out neuromuscular zone 7 and only do a handful like guy is doing. To increase power though you need much more rest between sprints. If you just want to get fit fast and improve your vo2 max then all out 20/20's will do the job. Laura will maybe have done that every day but only in short blocks of a few days then have full recovery.
