So happy that you guys posted another video! I am one all of your travel and food videos and kind of re-watching some one them :) you guys are the best!
Thank you very much! That really means a lot to us. We're shooting a lot these days in the Balkans. We're excited to share that series soon :) Our guide for Bratislava comes out tomorrow.
I am so happy to hear sam also eat eggs and jam. I though i was the only person. Cant wait to watch more videos of your trips in europe. I enjoy it verry much.
Not a typical Slovak breakfast at all guys but still glad you enjoyed it. Typical breakfast would be scrambled eggs with ham or bacon, definitively some sausages, or a wild selection of sausages, maybe some liver pate, salami with bread, sandwich (hot or cold), or cereal with milk or yogurt. Many Slovaks are still looking at green ingredients like a kind of blasfemy so your breakfast was definitively "trendy" one but not the typical one. I live almost 30 years in different parts of the world and I had the privilege to try and taste some of the most outstanding world's cuisines so I believe I can make some kind of statement about our national food tradition - Slovak food could be defined like the one which doesn't kill you but will definitively make you fatter. Our cuisine is "heavy" high on calories, green unfriendly, far away from being "healthy" but is so bloody good! When I go home for 2-3 weeks (almost every year) I gain at least 1kg/week or even more! My favorite is that potato pancake stuffed with the meat you eat in another video, it is called "pastierska kapsicka" or "shepherd bag" if you like, I love that one and with a glass of red wine or good beer, it is close to nirvana moment. Actually that Zlaty Bazant beer you had is the best Slovak beer by far and it means Golder Faisant. Welcome back again!
Hi guys, I am Slovak and to tell you the truth, yes, this is definitely one of the best places in Bratislava. But it is quite a "posh" place. I would say it's more French (Mondieu) and Italian inspired. If it is of any interest to you, traditionally, a lot of people might eat scrambled eggs, but definitely not with parmesian, as we hadn't even had parmesian until after the fall of the Soviet Union. And as far as sausages, I think less and less people eat them today. Nowadays, people are trying to eat a lot healthier, preferring oats, cereal,, yoghurt, or bread, butter, ham and maybe eggs, or bread with jam/marmelade/butter and honey. I wish I was there with you though, I love how you enjoy the food :)
Thank you very much! Appreciate you letting us know about that. Glad to hear people are more health conscious. I really enjoyed a big sausage at the Slovan hockey game but eating those often wouldn't be healthy for sure.
That's truth. I'm Slovak too and we definitely never eat parmesan with scrambled eggs lol. With spaghetti Bolognese it's delicious ;) But to tell the truth - me personally don't really like Slovak food while it's too heavy for me. Also not "Bryndzové Halušky" which is traditional Slovak food. I never liked the taste of ship cheese lol.
years ago i met a slovakian woman on facebook, she in that time taught english, she was so nice with me, greetings to slovakia and all the slovakians, from Brazil!
Greetings from Slovakia guys :) ...a typical Slovak breakfast would contain eggs but maybe if you would cut some sausage roast in on a pan and mix it together with the eggs that would be more authentic :)
Thank you! Really appreciate you letting us know about breakfast. We sure had a good time Bratislava. Our city guide is coming out in a couple of hours :)
Lol, I like your Slovan hat, Sam. Anyway, thanks for the video guys. Although I'm Slovak, I'm not eating outside too often, so now I can recommend restaurants to my foreign friends more easily.
Sam and Audrey - at some point, please make that trip to Antartica! You are the only travel vloggers that can do full justice to an epic trip like Antartica.
Thank you very much! That is a dream trip for us and something we do plan to do at some point. It is also our last continent to visit so we're very keen.
I love you both..you make me smile always. May I ask if you both teach while travelling? If not, how can you afford it and all the eating out.Europe is not cheap. You two should have your own tv series..you're both so articulate and very relatable. 😍❤️👏🏻👍🏼
Thank you very much! We used to teach but it has been a while since we've done that (years in fact); how, we sustain ourselves is through various online work. What we don't show is that we typically eat at home and not out that much on an average week.
One thing we've noticed in Europe is that baked goods and groceries tend to be really good value. We try to eat what is in season (fruits and veggies) and buy what locals would buy - whatever that is in the current location we're visiting.
Great video! You mentioned the reasons why you sometimes don't film. Has a restaurant ever told you that you can't film, and if so, do you stay and eat or go to another restaurant?
Thank you! That is a great question. Only twice has it been awkward but we've never been told flat out not to do it. Once in Germany somebody wondered asked us what we were doing and upon explaining they were fine with it. The other time in Buenos Aires, the waiter who Audrey was speaking to in Spanish for a while let the owner know about it and she got kind of annoying hovering over our table and telling us all the things we shouldn't do. Make sure you don't film others, etc. We just ended up stopping the video on the spot and never published it.
Thank you! A couple of tips to keep in mind is to wait and put your microphone on your camera after you order. Kind of walking into a restaurant with a camera with a microphone on draws attention. Also, we take it off once we're done the speaking clips. If we want to shoot some scenes inside the restaurant I'll sometimes use Audrey's smaller camera so it just looks like I'm a tourist grabbing a few memory shots. Not actually filming something.
I hear you! It takes practice to feel comfortable. The most awkward for us even now is if we're sitting too close to somebody else who is speaking English and we can easily hear their conversation. That means they can totally hear what we're doing and if people are staring at us it makes it even worse...haha.
Eggs, toast and jam is good, it's actually the first time I've heard somebody say it's disgusting.. It's literally sold at every restaurant during breakfast
so, I watch this vid and then notice the other video shot in Spanish. I don't know what you're saying but I like the way you say it! :-) I bet the Spanish videos will take off and have many views.
Thank you very much! We're hoping it does well over time but it could take a little while ;) We'll be putting our guides out a little faster on that channel since that is the only content we're doing there at the moment.
Wonderful brain teaser at the beginning of the video with the flags of Slovakia and Slovenia together, just to stoke the neverending confusion between the two countries 😆
We would like to see more of the places that you visit. Nice to see you enjoying the food but videos get non-informative and boring if one just has to watch you eat and nothing else. Nice job in the past guys but watch that you do not become boring.
Dear Samuel and Audrey, your clips/videos, honestly as a non-native English speaker, I don't know what they are called; then again I guess I could google it; anyhow, I always enjoy watching your clips, please keep up the good work and I hope you make some money off this channel to pay for some of your expenses. Last but not least, I love your style, and personally I don't believe you need to change anything; in case, you thought my comment on Slovak Breakfast was inappropriate/incorrect, I was just giving you my opinion based on watching your video and I am also saying this based on the fact that I went to the Czech Rep., Hungary and Austria 10 yrs ago and although I didn't see Slovakia, I believe the Breakfast shown had an international flavor as opposed being a traditional Slovak Breakfast :) cheers
Its funny actually, cuz humus in slovak means like: bleee, thats disgusting.....thats what u would say, when u used that word. like: oh you farted, thats humus 😂😂😂
Can't wait to see you guys meat local bloggers and youtubers on your trips who are featured in your videos as they can show you around. Try find local food bloggers they will help you find the best food and local food and tell you which restraunts to go to. I've seen the idea from like food network and travel channel.
Thanks! Yeah, that is an awesome suggestion. For destinations we stay a little while it totally makes sense. We've been a bit rushed of late to reach out and look people up but hoping we can do that in the future though.
Actually, I have tried it, but only with Scrambled Eggs, I don't think, it will work for me, with, Eggs, over easy, because that is the only other way, I love, my eggs. It does work, I make a sandwich out of it, that away,..! It is good, my mother things it s weird, but, who asked, her,..?
No Problem. Another example English "Mist" means in German "dung". "The Silver Shadow Rolls-Royce has just got the turn again. Actually, the 1965 to 1980 produced luxury sedan should be called "Silver Mist", which means "silver dung" in Germany. However, it was recognized in good time that a sin-precious noble vehicle with the name "Silver Mist" in Germany might not arrive quite as well. Therefore they named the car "Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow" GUTEN APPETIT....macht weiter so!
I went to mondieu thanks to this video :) i loved brastislava and the chocolate drink was amazing
Thanks Lianis! That is great to hear. We miss it so much.

Looking forward to your guide tomorrow :)
Me encanta Bratislava . Después de comer tan saludable podrían venir a comer alfajores y helado!
I sure love you guys how you get into your food.
Thanks so much for sharing.
Thank you! We often don't have a big breakfast so when we do it is a real treat.
I am so happy to hear sam also eat eggs and jam. I though i was the only person. Cant wait to watch more videos of your trips in europe. I enjoy it verry much.
My mom used to put jam on my eggs when I was little to con me into eating the eggs. Lol. So fun watching you.
Hehehe...glad to hear I'm not the only one!
I absolutely love your vlogs....oh the food you all order...always looks amazing! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you very much! We sure enjoy eating :)

Hi guys, wow that hummus and pomegranate toast looks so interesting, I’m just picturing what that would taste like. Everything looks great.
Thank you! It was a wonderful take on hummus. I liked it a bit more than Audrey and would highly recommend trying it.
Awesome especially those coffees. Thanks for sharing 🎥👍👍👍👍🎥
Thank you very much! Some of the fanciest coffees we've had all year I think :)
I need one of those coffees today.
I know what you mean!
Do you not have bags of sugar in Canada?

Also groceries can be really cheap in Europe if you shop supermarkets like Lidl.
4:30 yeah it is normal slovak breakfast (scrambeld eggs )
Thanks Bernard! It was tasty!

Thank you so much for your answer. Keep doing what you are doing - you guys are fantastic.

You were saying hummus so well! Kisses from Israel 😘
Ah, thank you! We got to eat the best hummus of our lives while visiting Israel back in 2013 :)

For architecture go to Vienna but for a chill pace Bratislava.

Hahaha...I was often wearing my Slovak hockey hat in Bratislava as well.
The coolest thing about Bratislava, that's next to Vienna. But I like Vienna more :) I am from Ukraine btw
They're so close to each other! We loved that short train ride.
Dude! If I was at the same table and saw you eating jam with eggs, I'd run - the other way.
LOL, that is hilarious. You're definitely on Audrey's side ;)
Don't worry Sam, you're not the only one weirdo. I love cheese /egg omelette with plenty of jam on it LOL

Nice breakfast, obviously not a traditional Slovak breakfast since there were no sausages or cold-cuts; Great video nonetheless.
Thank you! Appreciate you letting us know what would have made it better.
"Humus" in German means "soil" :-)
Hehehe....had no idea
No Problem. Another example
English "Mist" means in German "dung".
