I believe the dot is the mark left from the injection gate in the tooling. The resin has to be injected from the most central and highest point of the part when laid flat.
The dots are for measuring the height of your taillights (also on headlights usually) from the ground because sometimes your car could be too low. But I think nowadays cops don’t care doesn’t how low your car is
They make a massive difference. I have them installed on my 981S as well. However, I find if my car has been out in the rain or left outside overnight there is condensation visible on the left-hand side light. After trying various solutions and researching it seems it's just how they are from Porsche. It does disappear after a while once they dry out which I'm assuming is the reason behind the little pin hole. Be interested to hear if you suffer the same fate.

The dots are for condensation and making sure it doesn't fog up just aeroplanes have a tiny hole in each window to vent out air.
They still fog up. :(
