Laura, your Nine Bark looks like Octopus Legs moving around in the wind. So pretty and so many blooms.
I was thinking the same thing! 🐙 😂
Me too!
I thought the same! 🐙
My Father grew chrysanthemums. He really liked the football and spider mums. He would win blue ribbons at the local county fair for them, along with his roses and various veggies. We lost him in 2003 but his legendary 💚 thumb lives on.
Chrysanthemums are very special to me. My great grandmother used to sell dinner plate size chrysanthemums for a shilling 80 years ago. And I used to take bunches to my teacher in primary school. Lovely memories. Laura I am excited to see your specialty mums in bloom.
What a sweet memory.
Those nine barks blowing in the wind 🤩 WOW 🤩
Good morning ☀️ a great start to the day after morning prayer, a refreshing look to flowers instead of other junk on television. Thank you Laura and Aaron for garden escapes. ❤
🎯💯
Those are Chrysanthemums?! I'm totally speechless. I had no idea Chrysanthemums had that much variety - and COLOR!!!! Beautiful! I can't wait for them to grow up so I can see what they look like.
Check out King's Mums located in OK. There are many more styles and colors available. Laura has only touched the surface of what's out there. 😁
Home depot had some beautiful colours last year I bought a couple for me and a friend, when she told me hers was coming back, I was surprised didn't know it's was the hardy type
I get that you want to get outa the wind, Laura. I was a tree planter and worked with these masochists who’d work through almost ANY weather. Now that I’m retired, I hide from the wind! Your 9lace is so awesome, I’d love to come visit! You’re a warrior!
Leave it to Laura to receive the prettiest haul of chrysanthemums EVER.❤ SO excited to see these in your fall arrangements.🎉❤
I have plants coming up I don't remember planting there. Seeds must have floated there!!! I love it!!
Who remembers homecoming mums being made from the big, beautiful white mums? ❤
We had big yellow ones for high school and college....fun....
So therapeutic watching Laura do planting in her garden!
The nine barks look like octopus legs swimming in the wind!🤣🐙
Thank you for supporting a small local Virginia Farm, Laura! I grew their surprise pack last year and they made beautiful cuts! I had fairly good success overwintering them. I grew them in large grow bags.
As a retired florist, we called some of the ones you showed football and spider mums, and yes!, they last a very long time in a vase. The pics are showing some amazing colors ❤️
Love the baptisia! You never mention how wonderful their seed pods are in dried arrangements plus the kids can shake them like maracas & listen to the seeds.
Morning from SC. What a great way of packaging the plant starts so they don't get injured.
How clever of them to use " to go " boxes. They stack well in boxes, are firm enough to protect the plants and probably somewhat breatheable❤. Have fun!❤❤❤❤
I thought that was a great idea as well!!
it's always a high point in my season when a "late breaker" finally shows up. I have plant labels that say "not dead yet" so I don't accidently dig up a very expensive Holy Grail Hibiscus. they don't even start to sprout until peonies are done blooming.
I look at my hibiscus and was wondering what's going on, but this past week I took another look and saw life 😊
When Laura said “bloomin’ windy” it cracked me up! How appropriate 🌻
Windy days are hard in the garden, thanks for pushing through!
Wow Laura! Almost 2 Million subs!!! Now that is cause for celebration when you hit that! We will all celebrate with you! Blessings from Ontario Canada :)
Your wisteria would look amazing on the big sectioned arbour in the south garden, it would give it more space to grow than on the tiny arbour by the chicken coop. It does take awhile to flower so don’t be disheartened that it hasn’t done well for you yet, they take several years to mature.
I live not even a mile from a MUM Farm. Have lots of fun. I let my out and I didn't cut them back this year and they are about to bloom. the rule here is to keep them cut back until the fourth of July and then let them go and they get HUGE. I live in Central Pa and they love it here. I think you will love them too. I can just plant them and forget them.
Can't wait to see the chrysanthemums in full bloom. The colors are beautiful!
Laura's greenhouse looks like a professional grower...but then she is!!! I am amazed by their accomplishments every day!!! Their parents are so proud of them. Have a blessed day everyone❤❤❤
Wishing I had enough space for a ninebark 🐙! What a beautiful plant.
A good Memorial Day to you all, and a grateful thank you to those who served 🫡
Polly check out Tiny Wine Ninebark.. I have one and love it. It grows 36-48 wide and 36-to 60 inches tall. Mine has been in the ground for 4 years now and it is a slow grower. Only maybe 24 inches wide and 30 inches tall. still small and love it in the flower bed
@@jodiv2928 Thanks for the info! I unfortunately just have an apartment patio 😢
Chrysanthemums are such a joy to grow. They also flower late so just when you think the colour for the season is over they all pop!
That Samatha Grace is just such an angel. I love seeing the kids in the videos. Beautiful family!
Wow! That ninebark looks like an octopus. The blossoms look like tentacles. It’s really cool! I love how it moves in the wind.
Oh, and that's the first time I've seen a Ninebark in its true glory, not pruned, but allowed to grow as it was designed to, and it's so gorgeous!
Wow! That ninebark looks like an octopus. The blossoms look like tentacles. It’s really cool!
Good morning all have a safe and blessed day ❤️
Happy Memorial Day🇺🇸
My El Niño was chewed down to nothing by rabbits this winter and I thought that I had lost it, it started regrowing and it’s coming along nicely. 👏🏻😊💐💚🙃
OMGoodness, rabbits!!! I feel ya! None of my shrubs have grown because they get attacked every season. I will be wrapping all of them this fall. Have a wonderful gardening season! God bless.
When I worked at a plant nursery, we used to get mum starts by the hundreds. Emptying a tractor trailer of soil medium and filling pots. Spacing, pinching them. Then filling trucks to other garden centers. But, they were so nice. The rust and yellow ones seem to grow the fastest and bushiest.l I love mums.
I love chrysanthemums! My nan have a ton of them in her garden and I started growing them in my garden because she started to give my samples of hers!
The actual name is Hellenic🇬🇷
Χρυσάνθεμο
Chrysànthemo
Chrysòs + ànthos
Gold + flower.
Chrysanthemum literally means golden flowers!
I don’t know if you have slugs at the place you are planning for them in your garden but take precautions!
Slugs are loving chrysanthemums…
Mine were ravaged last year 🥲
This year I spread even more slug killers to protect them!
Good morning! I love watching your videos in the morning! That ninebark reminds me of an octopus in the best way! How fun and beautiful!
I have a pile of plants waiting on me to get them in the ground today. I purchased my first daylily (Janice Brown) and I couldn’t be more excited to add it to the garden. My gardens wouldn’t be anything close to what they are now without GA and Jenny from Creekside.
Thanks for the info on where you accessed these plants, I love trying new plants and places. Also, thanks for being so real and natural, instead of gushy😁 Your land is coming together and filling out beautifully.
Hey Laura! I'm so glad you're enjoying the heirloom chrysanthemums. It's becoming increasingly rare to find the old large flower variety these days. Growing up on the farm, these were our go-to autumn crop. Here's a little gardening tip for you: remember to pinch the top main stem to encourage multiple buds rather than just one. Also, don't forget to trim the side shoots for a healthier, more robust appearance. If any main stems happen to break later on, it's not a big deal. You could even consider planting 2 or 3 plants in one pot to achieve the desired number of flowers for your design. Happy gardening!
Mums are so versatile and so many varieties and colors. I’ve even had some luck planting the grocery store ones and had them come back every year. The only trouble with those ones was, the colors tend to revert back to white in the years following planting.
Maybe put a big whiteboard up in an area where you'll see it all the time. Use it to list the plants you have on order. Listing each plant probably wouldn't be practical, but noting what orders you've made along with the expected delivery dates might be helpful. Just a thought from an habitual note taker.
Happy Memorial Day
God Bless America 🇺🇸
Thankful for those heroes
and their families!
Oooh, excited to see those chrysanthemums grow and bloom!
Our Catalpa trees are the last tree to leaf out. They are blooming now, and so beautiful, the air is perfumed with them.
I love that it came with the care card and a tag for each instead of one per variety.
Oh Laura. You’re chilly? How I wish i could say that! It’s 97 and humid in North Texas. 😢. Thanks for always keeping it real in your videos. Stopping to cook dinner, letting the kids help, etc. I love it.
@13.01 and a quick glance, it looked like a beautiful forest....
Cook ‘em for dinner, your mini me is adorable!

I really like the shipping with cardboard because it’s natural
It’s beautiful to see, that area is slowly but surely filling in. The trees especially are are looking grand.
Baptisia is one of my favorite plants. Thank you for updating us on the chitalpa. I wondered if it survived the winter. Love Russell and Samantha Grace helping you.
Hi Laura. I live in zone 9 Sacramento and have an El Niño desert orchid also, inspired by you. I also thought mine was dead. It finally started to show some growth later than a bunch of others in the garden. I would say just ahead of hibiscus. It’s now putting on a beautiful bloom show and highly fragrant. Just wait you are in for a treat!
Btw I didn’t trim off anything, but obviously my winters are less extreme.
Everything is coming along so beautifully. Each year, the gardens get better!
Those mums are going to be beautiful! Laura now you are making me so hungry 😋
I have never seen mum's like that before. I'm never cared for mium's, but now you got me loving 'em. Your 9 bark looks like a sea creature, with long tentacles sticking out, but man is beautiful. Your enthusiasm is wonderful, pleasant, and infectious. I love your videos.❤❤
Absolutely beautiful plants. Have a blessed day. Remembering those that fought for our freedom.
Kudos to Harmony Farms for the great packing!! What a great way to protect the tender little plants ... all of the flowers are sooooo beautiful!!!!
Thank you GA team for a video on a US-holiday. Now, I want to add another row to my cut flower garden with perennials. #belikeLaura
Laura you need to make a 12 moth thumb tack wall board and keep track of your orders and approximate date of arrival.
I had something similar for a different business.🌹
Love watching your garden evolve. The mums are beautiful and the dahlias too. Have a blessed day everyone.
And now the rush on beautiful chrysanthemums begins:)
Oh how fun!! I have never seen chrysanthemum like those before!! They are going to be soooo pretty! And I think I need some Baptisia in my garden more ever now! They are such beautiful plants. And I didn’t realize that there were a variety of different bloom times for them! Thank you so much for sharing your projects, I just love your gardens 🥰
Good morning from Delaware Garden Answer friends.
Beautiful flowers
I love the bush like foliage that Baptisia gives after flowering. It looks great through fall.
Considering these were shipped in the mail, those Chrysanthemum starts look great!! And so their life on Garden Answer begins....
Those mums and dahlias will be so beautiful , the colors are beautiful according g to the pics. Love those baptismal! Now you have me craving that wonderful ham dinner you are preparing !!! ❤❤
I have two of those heirloom mums and in zone 5b. No mulch or fuss and they survived our winter!
I even did an experiment on a store bought mum that was given as a present and planted in ground and it also survived.
My grandmother grew chrysanthemums in her garden. Some were huge and I believe called footballs. She grew every color and cut them to give as bouquets. A sweet memory. Zone 7b/8a, SC.
Every zone has its challenges. Here in atlanta 7b/8, we get rains intermittently. And Laura has a such dry climate. Sometimes I’d like to be in drier climates. 😅
Those flowers are going to be AMAZING when they bloom! I'm looking forward to seeing the updates when that happens!
Samantha is absolutely adorable,
Oh my goodness how light has Samanthas hair gotten, she just the sweetest ❤
Ohhh Laura, I'm so excited about the mums! I'm a retired florist and I loved using mums in funeral work. These took me back and I can almost smell them. I'm so excited to see these grow.
Btw are you familiar with Texas "foot ball" mum?
Those yellow baptisia are perfect for the cats to lay under I need to get some of those.
The ninebarks at 17:00 look like they are dancing 😃💃🕺
Just love the new mums you have. Can't wait until they bloom.
Samantha is absolutely adorable...
My Favs:. In the Chrysanthemums, Chiffon and the Dahlias, Tyrell. And, so nice that you had premade labels on all the varieties! 🏵️🌼🌸🦋
Good Morning! 🇺🇸 I love those mum varieties!! I like the unique varieties! Wishing all a Happy & Safe Memorial Day! Pretty Baptisia, I have one to plant! I might get a few more! 😃🪻💚🌿
I bet any company you buy plants from has a surge in business after your video goes out lol. Just like Oprah’s favorite things list! The growth habit on that ninebark is so different than my Diablo. I love how the blooms are all along the stems. It’s fun always learning about new/different varieties from you. ☺️
Samantha with tap shoes and collecting potatoes! 🤭❤️
thanks for the inspiration you continue to give your viewers! you can send some of that breeze to central florida where i am using outdoor ceiling fans to keep moving air on my orchids
I don’t what kind of microphone you have but there’s never disturbing background sound in your videos. Good job! Love what you planted today, looks great!
Samantha’s is a true strawberry blonde. So precious. Have a great growing season :)
Thank you Laura and family I really enjoy your channel and always learn something new even though I live in Gainsville Florida keep up the great work
Love the Chrysanthemums can't wait to see it blooms
So many beautiful plants. So glad they will grow beautiful. Thank you for working in the wind.❤❤❤❤
Gardening is SUCH an exercise in patience! I planted a peony in one spot and didn't see anything for 2 years... THIS spring, one puny little stem came up! So, now I know to just w-a-i-t.
I also planted a Chitalpa last year and it looked totally dead this year. I didn’t have a chance to go pull it out and then all of a sudden - new growth from the base! Now growing like a weed!
First time ever this year, I had a mum to come back up in the container I had it in. I had to replant it for it is huge. It's budding out even. Wondering if I dead head the spent blooms if it will bloom again for me in the fall. I am going to the web site and look at the mums. Love those you picked out. Definitely be planting me some in my landscape. Fall color makes me happy when everything else is going out. Thank you for another plant we can incorporate into our flower garden that will return every year and make beautiful arrangements with. I had given up on mums I buy at the grocery store every year. They never show any growth in the Spring, but I still bought them for fall arrangements, especially decorating for Halloween.
Laura you are so inspiring 🪴🌺🌼🌻🪻🌾🌷
thank you ☺️
I bought the French Vanilla Mum last year from Grow Joy. ( Love that company!). It grew a LOT and even grew a couple of side shoots. I had blooms too and I can only imagine what yours will do for you!!! ❤
Great shot out to Harmony Harvest Farm here in Virginia!!!
You get so many flowers, lucky you ❤️🌸
That Ninebark Wine is gorgeous!
I need one!
The south garden is really shaping up now! Do you plan to bring in any other architectural/vertical elements or structures to the south garden? ( Other than trees) I think it would be a wonderful spot for some sculptures/boulders or other structures. With all the wind a kinetic sculpture of some kind could be a nice addition. 😊
I always loved mums so pretty. Im so jealous. Happy planting and have a Happy Memorial Day from Wisconsin ❤
Good 🌄 from Maryland. 🇺🇸
Samantha is such an adorable kid! 😍🎈
Oh my goodness! I've had my dahlias in the ground for two weeks now and I live in the Southern parts of Finland. You've had some unusual weather over seas, huh? You guys are usually so much further along at this point in the spring. Or maybe it's us that have the unusual conditions? The climate's been so off these last years.
Fabulous flowers! Yes, the wind is brutal!
the desert willow is definitely a late comer to leaf out, along with the vitex.
