I was lucky enough to see him sing at Rec Hall in State College Pa in the 90's. He is an incredible talent and it was a great concert. We were blessed to also have Mike as an All American playing Football for Penn State. A very talented man indeed!
Last night I said goodbye to my loving husband of would be 52 years. I have played this song so many times the last few days it is so comforting. He is not in any more pain and I will always be with him. thank you for the song Mike. Take care.
Don't sell him short. 2x All Pro, 2 Pro Bowls, College foootball hall of fame, College Hwy weight wrestling champ, Nashville Songwriter HOF, Performed in several Symphony Orchestra's, I don't know what else....maybe he helped split the atom???
This is an amazing human, demonstrated all his many gifts!!!❤😊 So blown away from the first moment I heard his beautiful lyrics and vocals!!! His athleticism just icing on the cake!!!
He wrote songs for Ronnie Millsap, Bonnie Raitt, Willie Nelson, The Judds...and on and on. This man is such a talented songwriter. No matter how many times I hear "I Can't Make You Love Me"...it wrecks me. Powerful and Honest.
@@tryingtobarefruitinoldage9878 He is from Pennsylvania. he went to Penn State. He only played for Cincinnati. He played on the same college team as jack Ham.
They say the sun out in the desert Is hot enough to fry your brain But the night air is so cold it'll change your mind And I watch the clear blue sky, turn a bitter grey On the day that you left me behind I've heard nothing lasts forever Time is gonna heal my wound But from where I stand I just can't see, how that could be true So I will lay me down in a heathen ground When my life is through And say Amen, cause maybe then I'll stop loving you I ride this sad and lonely city, driven by memories Thinkin' some night that I might find this lost love And the heartache keeps chippin' steadily away at me Livin' in hell with the shell of the man I was I've heard nothing lasts forever Time is gonna heal my wound But from where I stand I just can't see, how that could be true So I will lay me down in a heathen ground When my life is through And say Amen, cause maybe then I'll stop loving you I will lay me down in a heathen ground When my life is through And say Amen, cause maybe then I'll stop loving you And say Amen, cause maybe then I'll stop loving you I'll stop loving you I'll stop loving you

But the night air is so cold it'll change your mind
And I watch the clear blue sky, turn a bitter grey
On the day that you left me behind

Time is gonna heal my wound
But from where I stand
I just can't see, how that could be true
So I will lay me down in a heathen ground
When my life is through
And say Amen, cause maybe then
I'll stop loving you
I ride this sad and lonely city, driven by memories
Thinkin' some night that I might find this lost love
And the heartache keeps chippin' steadily away at me
Livin' in hell with the shell of the man I was
I've heard nothing lasts forever
Time is gonna heal my wound
But from where I stand
I just can't see, how that could be true
So I will lay me down in a heathen ground
When my life is through

Dave Wollenberg Mike would rather write for others than be in the spot light...he wanted to spend time with his family
@@tigersmom1234 With regard to his song, 'Forever's as far as I'll go', I would've added a bridge to it. It was too short, without 1.
