Wow, so I had no idea this existed. I grew up with my grandparents listening to Bobby Vinton and he had a single which was called ” Please tell her I said hello “pretty much the same lyrics just swapping out him for her. I grew up with a lot of those oldies and I just listened to that song last week for the first time in years and then this shows up on my TH-cam wow 🤯. She has such a beautiful voice.
A touching song with "the sound of 70's" on a beautiful voice!!! Besides a wonderful lady, of course! Thanks to my dear friend Laura for sharing with me!
Same as that. Reminds me of 1986, while I was in 5th class,(which I think is the equivalent of 7th grade in the US), in the midst of a wonderful childhood, I learned this song with the rest of the class for a Ms.Anne Toher, a fabulous teacher who really knew kids who's families hadn't a penny and how to get the most out of us. Anne if you're alive still, I hope you're doing great. If you've passed on, then RIP, your death is Irish Teaching's loss.
I discovered Dana's catalogue for real recently. Now, I'm a metalhead and also like electronic rock, and I normally don't listen to such music as this, AND I'm an American and only soon to be 32, but lately I haven't been able to get enough of her music. In fact, as I speak, I'm making an RPG character based partly on her. Rock on, Dana! \m/
I was 14 and living in the southern burbs of Perth Western Australia when this song came out. I have been buying and scanning the torrents for songs from my misspent yoof. This song was one of them. Mainly coz a chick I fancied like it (Heather Leek - in case she ever reads this)
What a lovely sentimental song , really sweet . The chorus sounds a little like hasta manyana by Abba.... i sometimes yearn to know how a couple of my old flames are . Hope they are ok .
Many early editions of Top Of The Pops were shown live and unrecorded, many later editions were recorded but wiped. Despite this, and as you say, many editions remain in the BBC archives, but are not available commercially. March 1975, the Bay City Rollers knocked Telly Savalas off the number one spot, what memories!
I'm jealous, all these pictures I've never seen before, there's even one showing her strumming a guitar. This record took 3 mths to chart - her first hit in over 3 yrs. Worth waiting for. If I were you, BladeSteve, I'd add the magic word "Eurovision" to the tags.
oops.. Clicked submit too soon. Couldn't find this song on any cd list and it's missing from the torrents so I googled.. and bugger me.. A youtube of it. Thanks for posting this... borought back memories. Now if only I could find the damn song !!
Tantas veces no tenemos el valor para decir adiós a quien no amamos. Y preferimos seguir el engaño y después herimos tanto más q decir la verdad. El amor confundido se convierte en costumbre. Y duele más engañar q la verdad cruda.
Hi - Thankyou - once again .. for such a beautiful masterpiece It is thus- with great pride .. that I am able to respond (back) .. Gifting you & your viewers .. the (until now) non_released AUDIO (Simply) Using your stereo feed - within my WIDE_MODE variant As "played" direct from - & thus - "out_of" ... your video Cheers. And p.s... Note - that I have deliberately NOT included the LYRIC score (preferring to ADVISE everyone - GO_BACK - to view your video)
google her - she released a couple of indy albums toward the end of her life that are beautiful, albeit a bit spiritual - but still very listenable. Don't get her confused with Glen Campbell's daughter, though - a different Debbie Campbell. Also google "Simple Song of Freedom" here and Buckwheat - that's Deb singing. I miss her still. RIP.
@Tonyflan1 Hi - it was.. (It was released as a SINGLE .. in 1975 .. and nine years LATER - re-released as an "ALBUM" .. in 1984 (and was possibly "also" contained within many of her albums that came out later ... & possibly even on the 2007 ALBUM..?)
Oh & p.s.. Dana "also" beat the TWO odd's on favourites - (one of whom was Julio Iglesias) .. to win the 1970 Eurovision Sound Contest - (that DANA had entered "on a laugh" - 3months before her 3 A_level Music Teacher Exams ... thus - instead of becoming a lowly music teacher - in some school somewhere - SHE made beautiful music - for the REST OF US .. "worldwide" ... and am I glad - that she entered - "ON_A_LAUGH")
thanks for this, but has anyone got the top of the pops clip aired on 13th march 1975? i know its in the bbc archives but never got it on uk gold or top of pops 2. i was stuck behind a cell door in the scrubs when this was out awaiting borstal to dover. what memories, some good , some bad.....

What can I say Dave ! Do you remember like I do !!
Debbie Campbell, formerly of Buckwheat (London Records). Released on Playboy Records. Debbie died in 2004 - RIP.
The English version was also performed by Marie Osmond. The also was a French version by Joe Dassin, and the German version sang Dana herself.
Thank U
