i have adhd, and i hate shorts so much, because every time i click on them i get stuck in the loop for hours. so i don't have tiktok, and i don't click on shorts, and if i do, i close window as soon as i catch myself. horrible insidious things they are. a lot of monetisable platforms try their best to be addictive, including youtube. i should retreat to tumblr or smth

Same here, I watch normal youtube in 2x speed, and basically youtube shorts says screw that. Oh and I can't even rewind nor forward with youtube shorts at all. Oh also, if I switch to different apps, youtube shorts just starts the video from the beginning. I don't mind if it's a 15 second video of cats, but most of them are just a whole minute with lots of details. If I miss one part of the video I have to watch the whole minute again just to rewatch what I have missed.

FYI X2 speed on videos means TH-cam counts it as half the watch time.
So if you watch a video at x2 speed, TH-cam think you only saw half the video

Well, if shorts are the only thing that most people end up putting out, I'll probably just stop watching the platform. I don't watch the short form platforms because of the same reason that I didn't like twitter. It's too short to get any kind of information across. I like entertainment, but a lot of what I come to TH-cam for, is to learn stuff. I like deep dives and stuff like that.

honestly true, the only one I'd feel comfortable going away from traditions of recipes and cooking would be Gordon Ramsey cause you can definitely tell he doesn't follow the traditional recipe on purpose.
