I used the dissolvable paper when sewing my wedding trainers. I marked out the designs I wanted to sew, stuck them to the trainers, used them as a guide and washed it off afterwards. Worked beautifully.
Finally a large TH-camr getting ahold of Gaffrey paints! The artist who originally created it, Justin Gaffrey, has a family owned business in Florida. They are really lovely people and his artwork is stunning. Truly for the price of a 32 oz acrlyic tube, its unbeatable. Using pallette knives, creating very bold impasto painting, and piping tips make it SO GOOD.
Yes, palette knives would be so good with this medium! She was complaining about the price a little but I was trying to think how I'd get that texture and buildability without sacrificing color intensity and I don't think that would be cheap.
@amyx231 that makes sense. What I've done in the past is use an acrylic medium from the craft store to add the texture and buildability I wanted. It's an experimental process and not necessarily cheaper but as it's not precoloured it's a bit more versatile.
@amyx231 $14 Clear / $15 White for the starting 16 oz. You don't need to grab all the colors to play around with this stuff! You can mix your own colors using other acrylic paint you have and create your own collection. Can put it in Piping pages or zip lock bags for your own unique colors. The real fun is putting regular acrylic paint on a pallette knife and smearing it across!
For the dissolvable paper, there is an embroidery interfacing that does the same thing, and it's for lace making or embroidery patches. It's easier to remove from the backing if it dissolves. :-) there is also thread that dissplves in water too.
@@mad_hattas someone who hasn't done embroidery in literally DECADES, that sounds amazing! I used to use an embroidery ring, but you had to get the tension just perfect to do it right. Using that paper must mean you can embroider so many more things!
@@lindatannock well, you need a ring and the paper. Which kinda makes the ring harder to put on. Especially if you have the stick on ones I have. Dissolvable paper for embroidery, you print/draw/transfer your deisgn onto the paper then stitch on top of the paper. When you're done, you can wash your item or swish it on water to remove the paper and you're deisgn looks great!
**stitch the paper ontop of your fabric, lol. I HAVE seen people stitch straight onto the paper, but you have to be more mindful and specific about your dtitches to not have them unravel when the paper disolves.
Regarding the dissolvable paper - in soap making it is used to incorporate printed pictures inside soap bars. For example you can print a photo on this paper, put it in a soap mold inside transparent soap base and voila, you have a soap bar with your photo :) when you will use it, it will just dissolve together with the soap bar.
You can print on the dissolving paper with an inkjet printer "It's alcohol-based so it won't dissolve the paper" and then you paint an object with clear gesso, lay the ink side on the wet gesso, and then after it drys, dissolve the paper and it leaves the print behind.
Modpodge does the same thing Lay your print (from a copier, etc or your photo) face down (reverse the image first of need be)... I typically use poster putty to adhere the corners together. Then paint on modpodge until saturated. Allow to dry and cure. I usually wait a full 48 hrs. Use a warm damp sponge to "wipe" the "original" off the new copy.
I wonder how it would work if you used cake decorating piping tips for the thick acrylic. Maybe it would be easier to handle- I can imagine making some adorable fake cakes with it

About the dissolving paper, in a shrine at Kiyomizudera in Japan they have a place where you write your worries or concerns on the paper and then drop it in the water and your worries would disappear along with the paper

About the dissolving paper, in a shrine at Kiyomizudera in Japan they have a place where you write your worries or concerns on the paper and then drop it in the water and your worries would disappear along with the paper
YESS our queen posted again
I love when you release a video. I check weekly.
Yay thx for reminding me to draw the atmosphere for my mars painting bc than it’s done!!
Sewing!!!!! The dissolvable paper is great for sowing and doing delicate crafts that need support but can't have it at the end!
Hope you had a very merry Christmas love your videos
Working with a new medium is so humbling. When I use markers and pencils, I can make it look like a painting. When I use paint, I struggle to make it look like it wasn’t painted by a 5-year-old.
Gorgeous watercolors
