great video, I have a 1995 318i, 4 cyl, 5 spd manual w/248K. It's developed a whining noise with a rough idle, but won't stall when I'm in neutral and the noise goes away when I reach 2000 RPM's and in gear and then it rides nice, no hesitation, no loss of power. I've taken both belts off to determine if the noise is coming from one of the pulley's or a belt driven pump and when I did, the whine still persists along with the rough idle. My tech thinks it's the oil pump. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Do you have similar kits for the E46 (non-M3 after 2003 mfg)?

We are currently finishing up the development for them so they should be available by the end of summer. www.achillesmotorsports.com/Achilles-Motorsports-Upgraded-Oil-Pump-Shaft-M54-p/11-am-uopsk-m54.htm

Hello can someone tell me if oil pick up can get clogged up and cause low oil pressure which in turn causes hydraulic lifters to intermittently tick? Someone told me I need to replace the lifters but as I said the lifter tick is intermittent which means they don't need replacing and more so oil pressure needs looking at. I'm certain if oil pressure is good then lifters won't tick? Thanks

yes..if oil pressure is ok your lifters won't tick...i have the same problem with my e36 m52b20 engine...lifters ticking only first cold start for the day...after that its ok....and my oil pres. lamp start flashing on low rpm after long driving and more agressive driving...

this week i have repaired a e36 m43b18 with the same ticking problem...but it was easy fix..a just replaced the oil pressure valve under the oil filter block and the car start running smooth like new...never ticking engine again :) some ''specialist'' in other service told him that the lifters, valves and camshaft is needed to be replaced..and big $$$ you know :)

i dont know if our m50 m52 engines have a valve like that...do you know?i watched schematics of oiil lubrication system but there is no pressure valve....only one in the oil pump...maybe we have to chance the oil pump and this will stop...
