    SR5. I am a simple man with simple tastes. The Limited is getting close to the price of a Lexus GX which leads to an entirely new debate.

    • @dylanfgarrison
      @dylanfgarrison 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Right Lane Hog agreed 100%. In fact a used GX gets into crazy value territory.... then there’s that f&?$ing swinging rear door... and all the camera gear I have to unload out of the back in urban areas / street parking = no go. So sad. So it would be the Limited for me I guess. Mostly for the all time 4wd and vertical / power rear door.

    • @rightlanehog3151
      @rightlanehog3151 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@dylanfgarrison I was thinking that the swinging rear door on the GX might possibly affect your ability to access the rear storage area with certain types of trailers attached.

      @@rightlanehog3151 I'm sure it would. So there you go, urban or rural use, it's not going to work for a lot people. And yet, people have been buying it since the early 2000's when that truck debuted in the US. They couldn't ALL be little old ladies who carry nothing in the back could they???

    I’m only in my mid twenties but I would chose the limited simply because I have dogs and soon want to start a family. I also live in the Great Plains states where it gets cold, like -54° F with the wind chill. So I’d choose the limited for easy to clean and wipe seats, better quality, and also heated which is a number one for me! The limited is worth the extra money in the long run because the leather will hold up better than cloth, and for both SR5 and Limited getting the same gas mileage it’s worth just getting the limited for the extra features.

      Irfan I don’t want them to change the engine, it’ll probably be the 3.5L n/a or 3.5L turbo. Only engine I would want is the 4.0 with a supercharger or a turbo option. I do want a new redesign but I hope the stick to body on frame and the original 4.0 because that motor is BULLETPROOF. I am holding my cash until 2020 and I seriously hope they impress me because I will get the top model if they stick to reliability vs. modernizing. I’m just excited, sorry.

      I just don't trust awd systems and their sensors that wait for something to slip before the other tires pick up the slack. If it's icy out, I just want to turn on my 4x4 and go about my merry way knowing that all 4 tires are working for me.

    Yiu missed the crucial part part. I ow. Two 4runners the limmited and the trd pro. My wife drives the limmited. The limmited has the sport suspension xras it's the only 4runner to have that. What it basically does is it has a reservoir hyrdolic pump on each side of the 4runner where as you turn, the dash remains level and strait using the opposite side oil reserve to bring fluid into the side tha leans on turns. You can put your wallet on the dash and it won't slide around, your passengers also dont feel the turns. It's a very simple and effective design. Vs the Germans electronical nightmare. It also has no dip in the suspension height when you tow. It self adjust the height. You dont get crawl control though. The Trd pro is tuned a little more agressive with shifting points longer, it's also got more agressive suspension and muffler. I get better gas milage on my Trd pro. The limmited is an AwD system. The trd is 2 wheel drive that becomes 4 when need be.

    So, in 3 years, the price of a 4 Runner Limited has jumped up almost 7 thousand dollars! Ridiculous. My wife has a Limited. It's a very nice vehicle. The thing is a tank in the snow and ice. It will go anywhere. It is AWD. They are getting too pricey, though.

    • @ThisIsDavesGarage
      @ThisIsDavesGarage 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not AWD it's full time 4WD
      Difference being a full time 4wd has a center differential, where the awd system is built into the rear differential.
      Respectively, an AWD system will generate power around the likes of 5/95% front/rear to 15/85% front/rear.
      Toyota's Full-time 4wd system with center differential will generate anywhere from 30/70 front/rear to 45/55 front/rear. Making it VERY capable on and off road.
      On the other hand a PART TIME 4wd system will lock the power to 50/50 front/rear.
      Really this type of system is best for deep mud and snow. Where the tires can move freely. This system is not ideal for on-road conditions and tend to break down easier becasue the power is locked to front/rear.
      It's a no-brainer imo to get the ful-time 4wd. This is the same system Toyota uses in their land cruisers, and has continued to use for decades.

    Wish Toyota would offer an SR5 Premium...……….the look of the SR5, but with full-time 4WD, 14 speaker JBL sound system, (and turn signal in the mirror).
    Speaking of sound systems, can a late model SR5 owner offer an opinion on the stereo in the SR5, for example, do you have to have it blasting in order to hear it over the engine while on the highway?

I looked at the specs and actually the 4th Gen are taller so I don't get it lol. Maybe I should just measure both cars and tires so I can figure this out lol. Can you help clear this up?

    I went with pre-facelift 2010-2013 4Runner limited 4wd because it's full time 4wd and it's a good price. Mods incoming, 2" lift with bilsteins or dobinsons or fox, AT3W tires, etc.
    If I were to buy a new 4Runner I would go with TRD Off Road.
