thank you Rob! After our company decommissioned Cisco Call Manager, I got my hands on 2 Cisco UCS 220 M4 so finally I can make a more complicated labs then I could before and I am also planning to switch from GNS3 to EVENG
Rob, for your full enterprise setup what would be the minimum core and ram - for EVE-NG bare metal, then on ESXi? I hear EVE-NG bare metal can spin up a lot more devices without resource problems/crashing with ESXi+EVENG.
Good question, 48 cores and 128 GB RAM is what I would suggest. Might be able to get away with something lower than that, but, I usually go for higher core options.
I want a server with native NVME - PCIE 4.0 support - Bit expensive, but i saw semi budget one . Dell R640 - 768GB -2x 7.68TB PCIe 4.0 drives - 2x 22 CORE gold processors ...... Is it and over kill at around $4,500?..i want to run almost all in one, and not worry about limitations, fast boots, OS loads like DNAC/SDWAN/SDA/ISE/CUCM etc + future proof?
Hey Rob, great stuff as always, so for your home servers did you have get some extra cooling equipment and did you see a considerable spike in the electric bill..
My servers are racked in the basement, which is below grade and normally 55-60 degrees year round, the servers keep the basement a balmly 75. The electric is a bit higher of course, $100/month if I had to guess, I don't honestly know though. Living up north, we have a hot tub, there's plenty of stuff going on in the house to make the power bill climb.
Played with GNS3 today. still installs on pc but they also have you install image on vmware workstation . It automatically opens vmware via some kind of api when you run it. The issue is getting the cisco images so it seems like paying the 199 for CML is the monopoly
How can we make Palo Alto lab on EVE-NG, I am trying to get pre-licensed images but the existing ones I got are not working. Any thoughts whether it is possible?

Thank you so much Rob! God bless you
Rob, do you have any network design book recommendations? I like to know design considerations as I touch tech.
