Honda C90 Cub - Motorcycle Review

  • The Honda Cub is a step-through motorcycle with a four-stroke, single cylinder engine. The model has been in continuous manufacture since 1958 with production exceeding 87 million by 2014. No other motor vehicle has been produced in such numbers.
    This 1995 version differs slightly from the original design. It has - a CDI (capacitive discharge ignition) system, which reduces the maintenance required. By 2016 the model had been discontinued in Europe by vehicle emissions laws but variants of the Cub were still on sale in Asia.

    A blue Honda Cub 90 was my first motorbike. I bought it about 30 years ago after I got my driving licence back following a drink drive ban. I needed transport for commuting to work, and it was all I could afford to insure at the time. I have learned my lesson the hard way. Although I came to motorcycling reluctantly, that little vehicle served me well for several years. I have had many motorbikes since, larger and more glamorous. But I will always have a soft spot for that Honda Cub 90.

    Great little video for a great little bike. I've ridden the 105cc version (CT110), for my work here in Australia, for almost 25 years. Great bikes almost indistructable. The new fuel injected model (NBC110) isn't anwhere near as robust. I wish it was.

      @sgch101  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Bernie, Glad you enjoyed the film. Your CT110 Postie bikes are famous, even here in the UK, so it's great to hear from a seasoned user! I hadn't realised there was now a fuel-injected replacement though it's not surprising, I suppose. Lots of people mention that the earlier models were very robust and that's one of the reasons everyone becomes fond of them. If you fall off, you just get back on and carry on! Thanks for your comments!

      When we started making this little film we wondered how much we could say about such a little bike. We ended up having to leave things out as there was too much to say. Maybe we'll do another C90 film at some point. Jon, the owner, is thinking of riding the poor thing over the length of the UK in 2017, which will total about 2000 miles as a round trip. In some ways it's the perfect vehicle for such an adventure. Thanks for the comments!

    I have a 2013 100cc Sym Symba which is a direct copy of the super cub. I use this for shopping and have experimented a bit with carry boxes... Many carry boxes are designed with a helmet or a pizza in mind, but a shopping box needs a sorting area to pack items of varying size.... I have removed the pillion seat and put a tall rectangular carry box on. The lid opens forward and is long enough to sit on the speedometer. The flipped over lid provides a good sorting area... For shorter boxes the seat can be lifted up to provide some underside support....A large carry box can cramp the riding position. To relieve this a little, the gear change lever will slide off the spline and can be refitted at a different angle...There is a bolt at the back of the lever that holds everything in place and it must be replaced from the same side as it came out, In this case I do a heel-heel gear change.

    Hmmmm , . Don't need to remove the chain to remove rear wheel he said . I changed a tyre a few days ago on my nbc110 and I removed it all . I'm even wondering now if I even needed to remove the the brake shoe plate , or if there was sufficient wiggle room to leave it attached and dangling . But then the axle rod mustn't be pulled out completely I'd say , enough axle has to remain to support the sprocket spindle.

    We need to get back to basic transport like this , simple to make, to fix and cheap to buy and run, cars have gone ridiculously expensive and the more expensive they get the more tax the government gets , the problem is people are being utterly conned by cheap pcp payments not understanding the balloon payment at the end.

    I really like the design of the rear rack. It looks very sturdy and the two V-shaped pieces that drop down to wheel level look ideal for keeping a panier bag from contacting the wheel. Is that an OEM Honda part? Is it aftermarket? Do you know where can I buy one? I'm in the US, but I'd gladly pay freight from Europe or Asia to get one like that!
