I have a ton. checking boxes doesn't make a good show. u need good actors. like al piccino in scent of a woman. great movie. we didn't need a real blind guy to make the entire movie trash just to check boxes for no reason 😂 its so embarrassing. horrible flop of a show and I will be proven right again. look at the real reviews of this laughable dumpster fire...watch disparu for some education. your welcome
@@smoovenorris well 97% of the rest of us are out. the girl playing echo is a horrible actor,the scenes make no sense whatsoever, the fights scenes make echo look unbelievable and unwatchable. it's like a slow lazy child fighting a real man like Mike tyson and everyone watching the fight can plainly see Mike is winning,he looks like a fighter ,moves like a fighter.but then for no reason or proof the kid wins 😂 its just not believable bc of horrible acting and zero training in fighting. it's like she refused to even try to learn...well I'm proven right,, again bc the reviews agree with me...your welcome sweety

That Daredevil fight was honestly so awesome! I really think that's how cameos should work in stuff like this. Badass action, makes the guest star look really cool, and is just there because it makes sense for them to be in this part of the universe at this time.
Making new characters look good at the expense of old characters has been a real problem for Disney. So I'm glad Daredevil still looked good here too.

The creation myth isn't part of her story in the comics. In the comics she just had photographic reflexes like Taskmaster. But then she went and joined the Avengers when she got the Phoenix Force for awhile. Yes, THAT Phoenix Force.
What they show is the actual Choctaw creation myth! The first Choctaw people were made from the earth and when they left the cave they became human! The sapsucker (woodpecker) is also seen in their culture as a messenger (hence showing up to warn them).
I actually love they intertwined actual choctaw mythology into it.
my favourite thing about maya's first kill is that she struggles to get her bearings, but once she kills the guy you can visibly see the ecstasy on her face. like kingpin said she finally found an outlet for her rage, but it still wasn't conducive because she rage kept her blind and open to being used, like clint tells her. this show is going to be pretty awesome!

The shot of Matt coming over the fence in this episode is legit my favorite action shot in any comic book property ever

The Marvel Spotlight branding was announced a while ago. It's basically a new branding that means you don't really gotta see much anything else to watch these shows. Though of course, I'm now thinking about the fact that Johnny Blaze was introduced in Marvel Spotlight, and am wondering if Ghost Rider (not necessarily Johnny Blaze) will get a Marvel Spotlight series of their own.
Edit: Oh, and guys, the Netflix shows have been added to the MCU Timeline on D+. They're officially canon, now. Oh, and this show confirms Daredevil was active during the Blip.
Jay, you are absolutely right, things DO hit different when you're a parent. After my first kid was born, movies that I had seen a million times started making me bawl.
The fact that all the netflix shows are on the official MCU timeline on disney+ brings me joy!

@@daniesaji2358 They can easily be on the timeline, up to a point, since they actually reference the films until reasonably late on. But realistically, the latter couple of seasons are basically a gift in making the excuse it's a multiverse world.
@@AmazingChi yeah but like if agents of shield is canon then why didn't Coulson or any one from that show appear in Tony stark's funeral also why didn't Nick fury mention any of them and also AOS messed up with the dark hold,etc also if they make AOS few seasons canon they have to make the entire series canon just like with daredevil once Netflix daredevil was canon the entire defenderverse got canon so same would be apply to agents of shield as well.
Fun fact: the worker at the skating rink, Vickie, was played by the same actor that played the mouthy Imperial pilot that Cara Dune shot in the face in The Mandalorian.
He also plays the villain in agents of shield season 7 in the alternative earth they travel to, hes great at playing a slimy nazi/imperial or criminal lol

this show was great wish it could of been 10 episodes to expand out more of the story for her legit there are so many saying this was a bad show I feel thoes people ones they see a marvel show or movie they just wanna get on the trend on being haters screw them they don't know what good is good
re: Matt's suit. in y mind, both suits exist. so the Neflix suit [so to speak] would be there when he and Maya first met up [all the while learning about Kingpin] but maybe he needed a new suit later on and that's how he met Luke [She-Hulk] in California.
Just happy to see marvel is going back to it’s grittiness and darkness. Love the representation and Alaqua Cox. Just seeing daredevil in the original suit made me scream 😂🔥🔥💯💯

Echo's comic debut was in Daredevil #9, so Matt showing up in the first episode could be a subtle reference to that. In that same storyline, our fearless lawyer and Maya went out on a date, so I wonder if the two will meet again in the future, maybe bond, and Echo could exchange dating stories with a certain green amazon😊.
Marvel Spotlight is stuff that's canon and takes place during whatever phase but it's not directly tied into it. Like Echo takes place after Hawkeye but its not going to have any Kang related stuff. Pretty smart actually. Now they can do just world building projects and introduce characters however they want.

In case you were wondering Marvel Spotlight is a reference to the Marvel anthology comic called well.. Marvel Spotlight. Werewolf by Night was one of the anthology stories, which is why the Marvel Spotlight logo was used before the Werewolf By Night special on Disney +

Great show! I'm starting episode four next and am excited to see more. Really enjoying what the show brings in from the Native American and specifically Choctaw perspective. I read that Marvel partnered with the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma which is absolutely great. Steps in the right direction Disney. Also having people on board in every part of the production is clutch and it always shows. Sounds like they did good with that one. Excited to get more of that. Just as Ms. Marvel, the family/culture aspects of the show are what is most interesting to me. Having a bit of Matty is great too though lol.
I love the MCU for various reasons. Really enjoying the shows and what they bring. It's not all gold, of course. But I really like the format and the world building. They just need to bring it all together somehow.
Oh and it always makes me happy when you throw in a Dresden Files tidbit. ^^ (Insert Cap "I understood that reference" meme. 😅)

Yeah Brad Winderbaum confirmed a few days ago that the Netflix shows can safely be considered canon, as far as he’s concerned. More than likely it’ll have small differences (like maybe Fisk hasn’t run for mayor just yet in this universe, for example…) but be like 90% the same as the Netflix shows
Life’s been kinda crazy, but I was finally able to binge Echo tonight a few weeks later, & I absolutely loved it. I love the integration of her culture & her family especially.
And of course, I had to come here directly after to watch your guys’ reaction. I knew Jay would love Biscuit. 😄
The actress who plays Echo's grandmother, Tantoo Cardinal, was also in a terrific series a couple of years ago called Three Pines (which starred Alfred Molina). And she was in Longmire, and is in Killers of the Flower Moon (which I haven't yet seen).
This show was incredible. I'm still nostalgic for Wandavision but this might be a contender for best show they've made yet.

The Daredevil series takes place in 2015-2018, her fight with Daredevil takes place during the Blip, and this show takes place in 2024 (which is before She-Hulk)
Well, the yellow and red suit was the same design. The designer in She-Hulk just added yellow. And this is before She-Hulk. I'm still thinking the Netflix series is a variant timeline, but some things also happened in the Sacred Timeline.
Even though producers say otherwise? It's actually a benefit to the MCU to have those shows be in the Sacred Timeline.

It was great having Matt back in the red suit. Since that fight is happening during the Blip, not only does it confirm Matt wasn't snapped (we already knew Fisk wasn't, as established in Hawkeye), but it makes sense that he'd still have that suit (or one like it) (5 years or less) after we last saw him in Daredevil Season 3, vs the newer yellow one.
Maya's relationships with her family in this is top notch

By 11 minutes into the season I was completely invested and rooting for Maya. I had tears too when she thought it was her fault and then drove away.

There's an arc called Vision Quest in Dardevil Comics that is visually spectacular if yall ever wanna read it.
The MCU is giving Maya a different power set than she has in the comics. Comics Echo is basically Taskmaster. She has photographic reflexes, but hers are arguably better than Taskmaster's. Maya can adapt on the fly, and her ability works on anything she observes, not just fight maneuvers. She's a concert pianist, for instance, despite being stone deaf, because she watched someone play piano. She's not super strong or anything, but she's quick and very agile, and a seriously strong hand to hand combatant. What the Hawkeye show gave us of her background is parallel to the comics: instead of Fisk raising her to believe that Ronin killed her father, he raised her to believe that Daredevil had. She's also Cheyenne in the comics and not Choctaw.
It's a great run inside Daredevil comics. Written by David Mack in 1998. Check them out. She even connects with one of the X-Men in that run.

I've been learning ASL for 2 years now. I recommend learning from a TH-cam channel called "Learn How To Sign". Go to their ASL Basics playlist on their channel and start there. Hope it helps

Deaf person here whose primary language is ASL. If you can find an in-person class, that’s the best route. Most community colleges offer one. For online, Lifeprint is a popular resource. Learn from Deaf teachers.
Every now and then I need to rewatch Stardust, to remind myself of when Matt Murdock and Geralt of Rivia were soft pretty fops in a fantasy romance. 🥰 Charlie Cox is so dang brutal as Daredevil, I need to see his soft side especially.

I did feel that the episode was pretty choppy, mostly because it was attempting to recap her previous outing from Hawkeye, while interjecting new narrative in between the shown events, but the highlights more than made up for that choppiness.
Really loved her first outing as Kingpin's henchman, not just because of Daredevil's cameo, but because I really thought the choreography of their invasion of the meeting was awesome. The two dudes who went in ahead of her were also pretty great (especially the big dude who just went and rammed the door himself, LOL).

PLEASE stop saying things like "Netflix violence." Yes, Netflix paid for each season up front a year in advance, but all five of The Defenders shows were produced by ABC Studios (Disney) and the later disbanded Marvel Television (Disney), just like Agents of SHIELD and Cloak & Dagger. Netflix had ZERO creative involvement. This is why Netflix only had LIMITED exclusive distribution streaming rights. (I believe the contract said that five years after Netflix stopped paying for a new season of a particular show, the distribution rights reverted back to Disney.)
Daredevil and the rest were NOT "Netflix Originals." They were DISNEY SHOWS. So please stop giving those who want to complain about Disney influence saying Disney will ruin these franchises any kind of legimacy. Say "The Disney shows first aired on Netflix" or "the original Disney series we old guys watched on Netflix." NOT "the Netflix shows." TY.
