      Definitely don't want to be out there when the weather is any cooler! 😂 Thanks!

    The kayak was a great addition... Now you just need to buy a bear costume to help clear out the campgrounds ..😂

      Hahaha! Funny about that bear comment... Glenn just told me the other day about a bear encounter at a campground he was at. 😂

    Glenn, very cool to see the discovery and exploration of the new Kayak -- you were a pro by the time you took it to Lee's Ferry. The lake and views were amazing. We have done the glacier lake in Waterton Alberta Canada -- and wow -- super cold. I don't think I could go swimming in that.

    • @CactusAtlas
      @CactusAtlas  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I'm impressed by how much Glenn managed to improve sound and kayaking by the time he did the Colorado River trip (not that the water there is insane or anything 😅). String Lake is supposed to be the warmest of all the lakes there so imagining the temp of the others? No thanks! 😂

    Hey Catus Atlas 👋 Great job on your madien voyage! I actually took a dip in String Lake back in 2012, and it was cold 🥶 but beautiful. We would joke that it was so cold that fish wouldn't even swim in it 😅 We did that trail up around the lakes, it had beautiful views! 😊

    • @CactusAtlas
      @CactusAtlas  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The cold water is no joke! I can't even imagine what the temp could be like in the deeper lakes! 😵 They are so beautiful though.

    • @CactusAtlas
      @CactusAtlas  ปีที่แล้ว

      It really is! Not too deep, not too big, clear water... Was a great place for a first float. 👍

  • @SidetrackAdventures
    @SidetrackAdventures ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Kayaking seems like a lot of fun. I was wondering how shallow the lake was because it looked like the bottom was right there, but I wasn't sure if it was an illusion because of clear it was, but once you stuck the GoPro it looked almost like you could stand up in it. But then people jumping off that rock was pretty wild if it is that shallow.

    • @CactusAtlas
      @CactusAtlas  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a pretty shallow lake - 10 feet at its deepest. Hopefully, those 10 feet are where people were jumping in. 😅 But yeah, the shallowness is what allows the lake to be a bit warmer compared to the other glacial lakes in the area.

    Where was your lifejacket skipper lol? You're becoming a regular Bear Grylls! Next, I'd like to see some water adventures and turn the drone on to "follow" mode and get some epic footage!! Well done and can't wait to see what's next!

    • @CactusAtlas
      @CactusAtlas  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We've actually been wanting to try that kind of shot exactly. 😄

  • @Angry_Toe
    @Angry_Toe ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The water is soooo pretty. You need one of those automatic inflating skinny life jackets- feels like you’re wearing nothing. They have come down in price recently. Well worth the investment. Thanks for the video!! Great content!!

    • @CactusAtlas
      @CactusAtlas  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glenn has a fairly nice one that was recommended and fitted when we purchased the kayak. It was behind his seat during this float as the lake is quite shallow. 😊

    • @Angry_Toe
      @Angry_Toe ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CactusAtlas based on the strong safety practices in previous videos, I didn’t doubt he had one on board. I’ve enjoyed the self-inflating ones during kayak trips, so thought I would share. I had no idea they existed! Maybe I’m the only one. Thanks so much for another great video- your work is very reminiscent of an outdoor version of Rick Steves on PBS, which are fantastic. I think your editing is better, though.

    Glad to come along for the ride on your cool new boat though I wouldn’t call it a toy it’s work that hopefully you enjoy over time even more. I got a GoPro for first time and will be testing it out haven’t tried it yet. I wasn’t aware of the overheating issues hope it’s not horrible I wanted to use it as a dash cam. Thanks

    • @CactusAtlas
      @CactusAtlas  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh, plenty more kayak adventures in the future. We're pretty pleased to have it around. 😊 Cameras have a tendency to overheat especially when in the sun to be honest. I wouldn't call the GoPro overheating situation in a car HORRIBLE but it does and can happen at times.

      @@CactusAtlas Thank you, good to know I'm so glad it was mentioned and thank you for the information at least I won't freak out and think it's a problem with my own GoPro specifically lol.

    Looking at the campsite at the beginning, just out of curiosity, what was the site number 😂. I am almost positive that I had the same exact site back in July! Hope you had a great adventure!

      Checked the confirmation email we have and looks like it was site 93 in Loop D. This was filmed back in July as well. How funny would that be if it was the same site?? 😄
