I've helped to clear ground before ( in my younger days.. ) so I know how hard you guys worked... Remember this "Every day you work is a day closer to moving in" Keep up the good work (y)
Awesome job!! Hardwork, persistence and realizing a shared goal. What a great example for your girls. Keep it up you're doing great. You both should be proud of you're accomplishments.
I went through the same process 20 years ago this year. We also used ICF with radiant and it was money well spent! All the long days are worth it when you are toasty warm on a -20 night!
I’m so excited for you both. I’ll be rooting for you all the way on this chance of a lifetime build. I’m sure there’s going to be lots of difficult low days but more importantly many many more exciting days.
As a construction professional I can tell you that you will always appreciate the rewards and accomplishment of building your own home. great job you two
Hi, You're giving me flashbacks. My wife and I did that in 1975. The only machinery we had was a used Sears chainsaw. I think you have the right chain saw. I became a dealer for Husqvarna in 1979. My original Husky 380 runs like it did when Ì bought it. You should consider chaps when cutting. Good luck! Shalom,gw
So happy for you all, and though there is a lot of work to do to finish your dream, that will make for some good content to share as we all follow along! I'm looking forward to following your journey, as you share your progress! Stay safe y'all!
Wow I want to commend you are your saw skills. Whoever taught you was a true Canadian lumberjack. My dad taught me when I was old enough to hold a saw with cutting my foot off. I treasure everything he taught me about falling and bucking up timber. I still remember the several thousand cords of wood I had to split and stack before I even got to use a saw. Hope your drainage problem improves in the seasons to come.
Looks like a wonderful spot to start making some memories. It will so nice for you both to pull into your driveway each day with your smile saying, yep, we did this. Our smiles are still there for us after ten years. Looking forward to seeing more videos on your progress, we have been watching your videos and enjoy seeing what a great team you make. Refreshing to see your positive attitudes in these interesting times we are living in. Keep up the great work.
Thank you so so much for the kind words and encouragement! We cannot wait to have that feeling when we come down our driveway!! Thanks for watching and following along!
If I lived wherever you are, I would come and work for free, just for the sheer hell of it, Im a carpenter, retired, and really admire your enthusiasm, but too far in the UK. Keep us posted. Ray
@@TimberMates hey I know it’s a 2year old video and maybe you answered already … question did you guys were able to sell your wood ? To a mill or something to recoup some money?
Good Morning my Tandem mates. Glad to see another videos. Plus I'll be following your progress to build your Off Grid Homestead. AWESOME!!! Take care & Stay Safe.
You see a lot of women using chainsaws, but to see one actually start one is ,well, very satisfying. I am truly happy for your family . Hard work is the winning formula. Thanks for letting us share your journey.
Wow I am so excited for you and Brandon. I have watched a few people build their own home here in you tube. Now I happily have you to watch. I worked as a young carpenter building houses in the early 50s so I enjoy seeing people building for themselves. Good luck. Looking forward to joining you both. If they made a pinup calendar with ladies dressed in Laborers attire I would pick you as number one sexiest!!!
Hello TimberMates; It is a cool project. You, Brandon and Blake are awesome. I cannot wait to see your new place. Enjoying the video and your journey very much Thanks for sharing.
Nice to see you working so hard cutting the wood , Just a little hint ,when you are starting the chainsaw in the air put the chain brake on . A chance saw cuts wood but boy will it ever cut meat and bone.
I think Brandon found the Backhoe's kryptonite. It's always tough working with heavy equipment in soft areas. You guys could have milled some timbers and built swamp mats to drive on but that would have taken time and they are not easy to move around with a backhoe. Hiring the tracked excavator although expensive can do a lot of work in a small amount of time. Glad to see your dream home getting started, keep on making memories and hopefully your land doesn't have any more surprises for you.
For sure, our friend and his big Ex made a HUGE dent in only one day, it would have taken us a few days to accomplish that, we are better off doing a tree job and paying him instead, less wear and tear on the backhoe too. Thanks for following along as always Rosy!!
Looking good. Ain't gonna say a word about stihl gloves with a husky saw. I use stihl chain's on my husky. Y'all take care and have a blessed day and congratulations on your land purchase. See you on your next video
Funny...my culvert went in the same weekend for my propertry in Northern Ontario....AND...I have a Norwood HD36V2. My name is Cory and my best buddy and brother is Brandon! I'm clearing bush to build my house as we speak also. Only diff is that I'm old so the hot chick beside me changes from time to time because the wife bailed decades ago, lmao.
We began our home build journey about 9 months ago, it feels like a lifetime and days ago all at once. It’s an amazing, stressful, labor intensive, exciting, creative process. Best of luck with your adventure! Can’t wait to watch the progress 😃
So happy for you guys. It is very exciting to be getting your own home and very fulfilling to be doing a lot of the work yourselves. I am looking forward to seeing the step by step progress you guys make.
Wow!!! Congratulations and might i add "PLEASE be careful" very careful. During my time on the TUBE i have watched some couples who do somewhat as you're wanting to do. Some make it and some don't The one I have watched probably the most is "Ambition Strikes" and I highly recommend it as they make their mistakes and also their successes. Take care and stay safe!
Congratulations! Hard work but you two can do it. Amazing how much you got done so fast. I'm incredibly proud of you two and your determination to built your own home - debt free. Great video! ❤️ Cheryl & Dixie Georgia 🇺🇸
... Going to be a great series ... look forward to see the progress as it all happens .. don't forget to take a few breaks along the way .. camping ..canoeing and time with Grizz ... Maybe a family campout ,, showing your girls the best parts of life ... Stay Safe and God Bless ...
looking good, it just takes time!!! the hard work will pay off, and there is nothing better then not owing anyone anything!!! you both make a great team!!! keep us posted on the progress!! thanks for sharing & rub Grizzs ear for me!!!
Congratulations on your new land, new journey, new home always remember that hard work pays off at the end it will be nice to mill up your own logs and know where each one goes in the new house great video as always stay strong stay positive and hold your head high and proudly Careena,Brandon stay safe
Just came across you channel and good work it does pay off .. I just wanted to ask you to please wear some saw pants or chaps , iv cut pulpwood for many years and when you least expect it they will save you from a awful cut ,, ask me how I know lol
We bought 14acres 10years ago and didn't use round edge rock for base . You must use 6 inch rock that's Not round, that type of rock won't ever compact down our driveway is now 10years old and hasn't gone anywhere..just trying to be helpful. Once you get your base then you can use what's called crusher n run it has lime dust mixed in, as it is used it settles and fills gaps in between your base Rock cracks/crevices. Proud for you guys working together to get it done.
What a great video the property look really great I can’t wait see the next video I have ask when are you and Brandon doing a live stream? I enjoy the lost one and I m happy for you and Brandon 👍👍👍❤️
Great job!! Little advice. Never turn your back to a tree you just cut. Always walk away constantly watching the tree till its on the ground. Trees can fall unexpectedly/predictably. You need all the time you can to get out of its way if it falls wrong. The more you are tired the more mistakes you make. If you are tired take a break.
9:52 lady picks up Tree - throws it into forest , L😹O😹L😹 😼 I did clear cutting in New Brunswick 40 sumthin years ago ? only lasted about 3 weeks ? dam deer flies were as big as Cats !!! I still haven't forgotten em / so I can empathize with your aggravation in getting this part done . Congrats on the new life chapter ! 😸😺
So super excited for you guys!!!! This is going to be an exciting chapter and I am so looking forward to watching! Will you be milling your own lumber for the build?
Thank you so much Kristin!! We are actually going full ICF (insulated concrete forms) which completely forgoes the need for regular framing, insulation, vapour barrier and so on, it's like 5 steps in one and its a far more efficient way to build. Otherwise for little things here and there we will likely buy lumber so nothing is moving around since we don't have anything really dry we can mill up, also milling dimensional lumber is not nearly worth the time it takes, its crazy how time consuming it is to get such a small amount of lumber
damn, i know you guys aren't shy when it comes to work , but wow what a project !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! will be waiting for all the steps as you guys achieve them !!!!!!!!!! good luck with everything !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very cool to see this process of clearing land. Does the wetness of a land affect the price ? I'm glad you guys created Timbermates channel, really enjoy whatever content you guys put out on this channel. Never a dull moment, literally. Congrats on the start of your new home. Is blake going to get a tree house somewhere back there ?
Haha Might build a cabin for him who knows :P Thanks for watching! With covid and market inflation any property costs way more than its worth, we lucked out on this one because it was basically an estate sale. So we jumped on it, its a really perfect location for us.
If you ever get a backhoe in deep like that, the quick and easiest way to get out is to put bucket down and lift up front, then use hoe to lift entire back end up out of the holes, then move hoe sideways which will slide back tires over to fresh ground out of the holes.
Congratulations on your new project of building your new home. Lots hard work, but in the end you will have a beautiful place to live your dream. I am really happy for you guy’s.☺️☺️❤️❤️❤️

See about setting up a ground water drainage system... In the end it could be cheaper if you have room on your land for the catchment pond....
We already have the trench for it, will throw in some big O and drain it all towards the back end of the property where the grade is lowest.
