Since Wolfpack Tactics looks at ships with officers, and AI cores count as officers, you could field twelve Glimmers with Gamma Cores while only hitting the soft cap for Automated Ships. Tried this once, and while it has a questionable cost-to-payoff ratio, it *does* work in case you wanted your human officers in destroyers or somesuch. You could also have fifteen Lumens with Missile Specialization, Expanded Missile Racks, and four Reaper torpedoes each for 180 total torpedo shots carried by ships that can teleport around - the term "terrifying hell universe" came up when I was discussing it with people which, yeah, that's appropriate. Nice flamethrower tempest, I usually run EMP burst guns (vanilla guns) with expanded mags. Just disables everything. =P Eventually your frigate spam gets too big and they can't shoot through each other. So I get Omens for their EMP special that can pass through teammates safe.
Wolfpack Tactics is literally what you did, and not what you described. One ship finds the enemy, as many allied vessels arrived to back you up, and if you had enough, you attacked as each ship saw fit, with extensive communication between each ship preventing any friendly fire or other similar issues. Generally, though, this tactic would only REALLY work with phase ships, as those could hide and decide if they should attack based on how many ships were available. What you did here was more a modified form of Swarm Tactics. Get a mass of ships, disable the enemy, and bludgeon them with numbers.
