I think the only actual ray tracing is headlights from the car that you are driving. The lights now actually get blocked by objects in the way, including cars and people
The headlights casting their own shadows has been in the PC version since it’s release; so long as you run the Shadows setting on high or very high. So those aren’t Ray traced.
This technology I'm 90% sure this is direct illumination. It's essentially when light sources and mapped physical models can interact with those light sources. Similar to unreal engine when you can place light sources down and they will have standard geometric shadows and highlights. This is different to global illumination when multiple objects and light sources can interact to produce realistic physics as compared to using geometrics to map shadows of direct light with limited detail and texture.
The biggest difference in fidelity mode versus performance RT in the cab scene in the end you can see more detail in the road and you can read the lettering on the back of the cab trunk clear.

Not the motion blur or DOF but I’m saying that it almost looks like the distance is unfocused and blurry. I’m on a Xbox Series X and using a 4K tv btw.
I think I know the answer to this. I took a screenshot the other day. It would seem we have in place chromatic aberration, an option people usually turn off on pc games. It's meant to make what you see look more picture-esque. Quite sure there's no way to turn it off.
I cld help u there man, go to your in game settings, then go o display, you’ll see an options saying in game depth of field effects, toggle that off, it should help massively
IDK why but in fidelity mode on the Story mode feels slower and with performance Rt it feels a lot smoother, and in my opinion feels a lot better as well
Performance RT has flickering in far objects due to a lower resolution (It uses TAA up sampling) so a solid 1440p is superior to a dynamic one in my opinion
I play on fidelity mode it looks better on my 4k tv then the performance RT because thats 1440p upscaled to 4k. I don't mind the 30fps because it looks amazing.
This is the best thing that Rockstar done too really good addition, I’ll choose Preformance RT bottom line, and idk what your talking about bro it always have a chance in raining at night time on freemode gta online so it will appear

I have a series S and fidelity makes the colors look weird and patchy IMO. It could just be my tv, but it definitely doesn't happen on performance. I have noticed that on performance mode things in the distance start to blur once you start moving
Cheap and lazy. The amount of money they have milked from this that should had been a min simple as. But then again gta 5 is just really to old would need to be redone near enough from ground up witch it should had been. And the fact I can't play on my one x in bed room if I transfer I do have a series x but doing so just locks me to not being able to play no way am I starting over again. Friends are on Xbox one so would be playing by myself waiting for them to transfer what a joke
I'm fidelity all the way! It also in my opinion matters on the TV moddle you're using. That plays a huge part in Fidelity mode. At the end of the day do I personally notice a big difference between all 3 yes and no. Do I personally care about these 3 modes? Absolutely not!🤣
What’s the resolution difference between performance and performance RT? There has to be one other wise it wouldn’t make sense because they would both be the same other than performance rt having ray tracing? That would give the normal performance mode a lot of overhead to work with so with that said performance mode has to either have a higher frame count or a higher resolution.
