Great question! So many are volunteers that I didn't plant, so not sure what those are. The ones I did plant are the shorter ones near the gate in the peninsula bed -- those are Late Blooming Purple Aster ! Symphyotrichum patens. I suspect that the tall asters in the backyard are hairy old field aster, but not sure...they volunteered with the goldenrods. Hairy old field aster = Symphyotrichum pilosum
@awildapproach You are very blessed to have so many volunteer natives come up!!! Our property was over run by invasive plants and it has been a 12 year battle to get rid of them and reintroduce natives to our woods and Woodland edge. I have sown or planted S. Shortii, heart-leafed, and Sky Blue.
@@heidijasper5915 I am very delighted with the native volunteers I have. I do, however, get lots of nasty things like invasive privet and english ivy, though. Those are a constant battle.
You had more snow than we had here in NW Ohio! Nice video.
Right?! We are NOT used to this! haha, but it was beautiful. Now we have been having highs in the 60's!
Which asters do you have planted?
