Yeah, my dad spent part of his childhood on Staten Island. He didn't recognize much from this walk. I went to NY for the first time in 1988. It has definitely changed a lot. I didn't see a single burned out car on the side of the street this time. :)
what a wonderful way to cross the city without traffic. the fact that bicycles, scooters, smokers arent allowed makes me plan to walk the highline when Im in New York great video!

I also filmed a 10 mile walk around Central Park, a walk from the Staten Island Ferry Terminal to the other side of the Brooklyn Bridge, a Little Italy and Chinatown walk, and an evening walk.
It's commendable that the authorities have protected this green area and not sold it off to real estate developers. New York's parks are a city treasure, and it's a relief that we can still enjoy them.
Yeah, New Yorkers need those parks to get some stress relief from living on top of each other in a crime-riddled and expensive city with high taxes and illegal immigrants all over the streets.

There are actually plenty of new developments right alongside this park, the area of the Vessel being one of them. The park has attracted developers, as people want to live next to it.

I've watched a lot of walking tours of New York City and your walk is the best of them all! I love your Paris ones. Takes me back to my visits to Paris and wanting to go back (New York, too). Not sure if you mentioned it, or if anyone in the comments mentioned it, but you missed an opportunity to point out the giant pier gate at Pier 54- Little Island. If Titanic had made it to New York, that was the pier. I'm so glad to see that it's now an open park. It wasn't like that when I visited.Again, though, thanks for a wonderful walk.

Hey, glad you enjoyed it. For this video I figured a lot of people would watch it while walking on their treadmill so I tried to walk a little faster than normal.
Some of the buildings are outright ugly, some are architecturally interesting, while some others look like Xerox copies of Soviet housing projects. However, the riverside walk is beautiful and colorful and should be a real oasis for the residents of the area and the visiting tourists. I've watched a lot of walking tours of New York City and your walk is the best of them all! I love your Paris ones. Takes me back to my visits to Paris and wanting to go back (New York, too). Not sure if you mentioned it, or if anyone in the comments mentioned it, but you missed an opportunity to point out the giant pier gate at Pier 54- Little Island. If Titanic had made it to New York, that was the pier. I'm so glad to see that it's now an open park. It wasn't like that when I visited.Again, though, thanks for a wonderful walk.

However, the riverside walk is beautiful and colorful and should be a real oasis for the residents of the area and the visiting tourists.
