    Thanks for this tutorial! Do you now if there is a setting to map a knob from a Midi controller to a parameter and only sending Midi data (controlling the parameter) if the track is selected or the track is rec armed or the plugin gui is in focus? Maybe with a Max for Live script?

    • @xversacex
      @xversacex ปีที่แล้ว

      This is exactly what I'm wondering... As I'd like to control multiple synths with the same knobs knobs ONLY if I have track in focus/armed. For ex, track 3 with spire selected, cut off knob on controller ONLY controlling that portion. Selecting track 4 with vital and using that same cut off knob and controlling only the cut off of vital. How can I achieve this? Using the Arturia 88 MKII

    Is there a way to map and sequence the record arm selection? For example, for live jams, my main MIDI controller plays through what ever synth is armed. I want that synth to change every 8 bars (for example) . So the drums, bass, backing etc all stay them same, yet the synth I am controlling for lead lines changes to a different synth at the end of 8 bars automatically. I know record arm can be controlled via MIDI mapping, but I can only get it to change which track is armed via a MIDI note-in from my controller at the moment (or a tedious mouse-click). I want to be able to sequence this (create a record-arm selection clip) so it automatically changes which track is armed from this pre-recorded clip and I don’t have to press a key every 8 bars to change which synth my leads are playing through when playing live. Thanks!

    Thank you for these fantastic tutorials!
    I have a doubt about one thing regarding midi mapping.
    I have ableton live 10.1 and I'm about to buy a midi keyboard (oxygen pro). According to the specs this keyboard has premapped daw controls.
    If i go to preferences>midi, obviously there's no 'control surface' for the oxygen pro becouse it was relased one month ago; so will this affect the funcionality of the keyboard or not?

    • @MusicTechOfficial
      @MusicTechOfficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, you can use MIDI map mode to map controls to wherever you like! These premapped controls are just preset mappings for time saving, so no functionality should be affected :-) - Check our guide to MIDI controllers here. www.musictech.net/guides/buyers-guide/the-best-keyboard-controllers-to-buy/

      @@MusicTechOfficial so for example, the dedicated buttons for arming tracks on ableton will work even if I can't tell ableton that I'm using the oxygen pro?

    • @MusicTechOfficial
      @MusicTechOfficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rollelagrange5708 If those buttons output MIDI and you map them to the arm controls in Ableton, yes. You need to check that all buttons output MIDI CC's

    • @rollelagrange5708
      @rollelagrange5708 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MusicTechOfficial yes I know that I can map controls manually, what I'm trying to say is that in this keyboard there are premapped "multifunctional" daw buttons...for example you can toggle the arm button to be a arm,solo, select ecc...
      The doubt i have is if this will work even if i don't put the 'control surface' (becouse i have no option on live 10.1).
      I woudn't know how to manually map these "multifuncional" button....maybe i just have to buy the keyboard and find out?😕

    • @MusicTechOfficial
      @MusicTechOfficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rollelagrange5708 You just need to find out if those DAW buttons output MIDI, if so then you're fine. Check with the manufacturer. They probably just output different MIDI CC's depending on the function you select, so then you just remap those controls to your preference.

    Though i did a lot of research, i still dont have a solution for the following issue:
    I have an mpkmini2 and wanna use my 8 knobs on 4 different programs (so 32 knobs in total). Pickup mode is active and initially everything is working fine. But as soon as i switch programs an come back to a program the pickup mode isnt working anymore.
    Is anyone familiar and even has a solution for this problem?

    So for instance I can't map an undo button to a launchpad x huh?

  • @PedroMiguel-if3ll
    @PedroMiguel-if3ll 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

    For those scratching their heads, all these mappings are just per session.
    Everything is lost when you open a new session.
    Its incredible that Ableton after all these years haven't sort this out. Same with 2-way macro mapping.
    So annoying that after assign a macro it's not possible to move the knob that was assign with the mouse or another controller.
