The narrative fails to mention one fact the commercial row at Friendship is limited to Muzzle loading firearms designed and built before 1898 or replicas thereof there are no modern firearms permitted on the grounds of the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association at Friendship.

I remember visiting the "sheep sheds" in the 1970s with my father. It was the height of the muzzle loading craze and all those booths had a vendor occupying's them. James Townsend and Sons was one of the vendors, right next to Buffalo Enterprises. Was a lot of fun to look, but I had no money!
It's nice to see H&B Forge is still at their original booth!

Good morning, we’ve been binge watching your channel, sent here through the algorithm. Thank you for taking the time to share these wonderful events.
This flea market and the others you have posted is what we remember visiting back in the 70’s in our neck of the woods. Unfortunately the Libtards have taken control of our beloved state and these type of events we remember with such fond memories have been canceled and or have become magnets for a bunch of Chinese BS.
Praying for a miracle and belief in the Lord, we will gain control and return to those simple times from the past.
Please keep these videos coming, know they are much appreciated.

A lot of interesting material to pore over. As an aside I was interested to see a country still using one dollar notes, pretty much history elsewhere so they may soon be collectables as well.

I met a Traveller from an antique land
Who said: “Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desart.[18] Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed:
And on the pedestal these words appear:
“My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings.”
Look on my works ye Mighty, and despair!
No thing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that Colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

Great vid sir! Very interesting, you are so lucky to have places like that to go shop! Here in Northern Ireland we don't have the like. I am into black powder myself and am building a 1730era brownbess and have so much trouble getting parts, even flints for it are a problem. Good luck with your channel bud and I give you a sub. 👍

First time viewer here and now subscriber.I’ve taken interest in older flintlocks however I wouldn’t be sure if I was overpaying for one.
What purpose does a gorget serve?
I’ve seen plenty of them and reminds me of what the British military wore in their uniforms.

    • @MuchachoMilitaria
      @MuchachoMilitaria  ปีที่แล้ว

During the days of early America, French and English officers wore crescent-shaped gorgets of silver or silver gilt as a badge of rank. The British awarded gorgets to various chiefs of American Indian tribes both as tokens of goodwill and a badge of their high status. Those being awarded a gorget were known as gorget captains. Gorgets were also awarded to African chiefs. Here is a passage from Wikipedia:
"A gorget is a type of neck armor worn by soldiers and knights in the Middle Ages and Renaissance periods. It was typically made of steel or other metals and was designed to protect the neck and throat area from swords and other weapons.
The origins of the gorget can be traced back to the 14th century, where it was first used as a simple plate worn around the neck. Over time, the gorget evolved into a more complex piece of armor that covered not only the neck but also the upper chest and shoulders.
During the 15th and 16th centuries, the gorget became an essential part of a full suit of armor. It was often decorated with intricate engravings and designs, making it a symbol of status and wealth. By the 17th century, the gorget had become smaller and less prominent, and was eventually replaced by the cravat or necktie.
The use of the gorget continued in some military applications, particularly in the British Army, where it was worn by officers as a badge of rank until the 19th century. In modern times, the gorget has been revived as a piece of ceremonial dress, worn by military officers during formal occasions.
Overall, the history of the gorget reflects the evolution of armor and military dress over several centuries. While it is no longer used in a practical sense, its legacy lives on as a symbol of tradition and military heritage."
