Thanks for the solo play through! It’s great to see the solo AI working for several rounds to get a solid feel for it. Looking forward to playing this once my copy arrives. And, of course, thank you and Sam for designing another fantastic game!
sorry to be offtopic but does someone know of a method to get back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb forgot my login password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me
Oh yeah - I'll be backing this!! Planned to as soon as I saw the cover art... Mr. Phillips - if you announced you were designing 'Whack A Worm With A Wet Noodle' I would back it at this point... :) You (and Mr. Macdonald) are design geniuses (no - I don't think that's too strong)!! And Mr. Dimitrievski's artwork is becoming iconic - instantly recognizable!! CONGRATULATIONS!! Looks like another sure winner!! I'll anxiously wait for the Kickstarter and impatiently bide my time enjoying Paladins and Architects and Raiders... :)
I purchased and played Architects several times and love that game, the art, the theme, the play. I've played it from 3 to 5p and I am waiting for my copy of Artisans to arrive and may play it at 6. I have ordered Viscounts without knowing much about it and now I am very excited to see it. You have so many novel mechanics and ideas in these games. Looking forward to it.
Oh, I'm so sorry to have missed the KS campaign! But as a consolation price I just got the Paladins so we're going to focus on that until Viscounts hit the stores :D
I thought I understood the AI building placement rules, but obviously not! I thought the AI built on the clockwise-most vacant space in the current building sector? Yet at 13:45, you placed the AI's guildhall on the other vacant spot in the sector....?
@@garphillgames thanks for answering so quickly, Shem! But I must be thick, because it still doesn't make sense to me. Clockwise is an absolute direction, but left-most is relative. Left-most as viewed from where?
@@garphillgames OK, that makes sense now, I was thinking it was from the outside of the board (where the players sit). But the "going clockwise" part seems redundant; the AI simply builds in the left-most (vacant) space.
Watched this again and I can't believe I looked pass the part where each player board has a different AI approach on the back. That's interesting. Wish there was another AI/scheme deck where you can play 2 AIs solo.
Hi Shem! At 13:40 you pay gold and ink to perform the “construct buildings” action Shouldn’t you use only Stones for this? I’ve checked the rulebook, it seems that the AI, just like humans, must spend resources only of the related type...right? Thanks!
@@garphillgames thanks for the reply! One more question. If the Cleric AI got the manuscript with victory points per two blue trade icons, how do we score for that?
If you are here to know how the designer beats the AI, that doesn't happen. Count when he stops is really in favour of the AI. I was really looking forward to know how the designers beat it. My closest is 16 points behind the AI so I'm looking for ways to play better. One thing I picked up is loading up on resources (I was doing that) but he seems to use them all up in one shot (like in the castle). Still can't believe that after 40 min the AI only built one workshop! Mine always ends up building all by ends game but 2. Even the non-builder focused games. lol I'll try the co-op tomesaga video next :)
Looks like I’m going to be the Devils Advocate here...I’m really on the fence after this video...was expecting an insta back feeling...but I’m currently unsure. I think I need to see from start to finish as that’s what tends to hook me in...will there be any full play through videos available during the Kickstarter? Thanks
Shem Phillips thanks Shem. I will watch your video a couple more times this week though...was just commenting on my first view. 😬 I’m a huge fan...so I am sure it will be added to my collection, just looking forward to seeing more about it.
@@garphillgames Thanks for the quick reply. The playthrough was great. Viscounts looks awesome. Loving all things Garphill Games. Keep up the good work!
Hey Shem, first of a you're easily one of my favorite designers, your games are awesome. But second, is there any influence on this of Mutants: the Card Game? The three played cards that once is cycled each turn and have play / drop off actions reminds me a lot of that.
@@garphillgames I thought so, it didn't make too much of a buzz. It just happen that I just got Mutants a few weeks ago (and I've been enjoying it), and now I'm seeing how Visconts will work remind me of that. Can't wait for the KS
AngryGeek Production Definitely not lighter than Architects. Some playtesters actually felt it was heavier than Paladins for them. I probably just made it seem easy on video. There’s a lot of tough decisions each turn.
@@garphillgames definitly not heavier then paladins lol ... But it is near architects if not lighter ... Equal but seriously, find other playtester if they find it heavier then paladins ... Paladins is your best game for complexity in all of them
Obviously we use a large number of playtesters. Paladins’ weight comes from its need to plan 4-5 turns in advance. Viscounts has a larger decision space each turn, but you’re really only planning 2-3 turns ahead. So it really depends on the player. Would be hard to judge from only watching this video.
And now I know how to pronounce "Viscounts". Thanks Shem! :D

Looks really fun! I posted this on my IG to get the word out.

At 8:33 shouldn't the AI have flipped a Debt card since the icon on the drawn card was a black card, not a bi-color one?
It’s too hard for me to see on screen if that icon has both colours or not.

The video is correct. They always build into the left-most available space, moving clockwise around the board.
@@garphillgames thanks for answering so quickly, Shem! But I must be thick, because it still doesn't make sense to me. Clockwise is an absolute direction, but left-most is relative. Left-most as viewed from where?

The specific AI that I was playing against treats all resources as a single type.

Does the AI player follow normal shuffle rule assessing criminal effects?
Yes.
Okay I did that wrong the first game
@@garphillgames So at 25:23 when you shuffled AI deck shouldn`t you move AI`s white marker to the left 1 space (no criminals on AI board) ?

Can someone help clarify- can coins be used to assist with adding workers, inking manuscripts and build buildings?
Only with the abilities of specific townsfolk cards - not by default. Coins can boost the Merchant action.
