Really wish the camera could show us more of the game action, like maybe more of a top down perspective or handheld (if it's not too much of a hassle) to get close up with what you are looking at and considering. With the board in the corner like that I feel like I'm listening to the game being played rather than watching it. I don't get to see the options and be involved in the strategy, which makes it harder to connect. And the main reason I watch board games being played is to get a proper feel for the game.
I understand completely. I was trying something a little different, and clearly it's not landing for everyone. I was wanting to focus a lot more on my player board and the Automa Cards. I've also been trying to get an angle that mimics more of a "you are there" feel at the table, but in so doing, much of the main board loses distinction. I'm listening to all of the criticism, and will carefully consider all of it for future videos.
At 37:26 I think its wrong to place a toppled SE outpost when automa is conquering since the toppled icon must be visible on the tiebreaker card (right one). In your case there is none. Am I right?
René Frank When the Automa conquers, a toppled Shadow Empire outpost is added only if the toppled icon is on the tiebreaker card; that is the card on the right. You are correct. It should’ve just been an Automa outpost.
I just unboxed this and set it up to play the Automa, but I found the rules confusing and had a lot of doubts about how I would manage the Automa. This play through helped clarify that. Thanks, Mike!
You're absolutely correct. I was looking at the Track Card, when I should have been looking at the Tiebreaker Card. They shouldn't have toppled there. Thanks for the catch!
Automa turn around 17:10. Does automa gain tapestry card associated with second action on the exploration track too? or just one per turn? Also, does automa gain benefit from the tile it explored if it matches the icons it can use? Thanks.
I was on the fence on whether or not to buy this. This video pretty much confirmed I’ll be ordering it. I thank you for making the video. My wife and wallet do not.
I liked the camera position in Paladines of the West Kingdom much better. Way more overview. Is there any reason you do it almost never? Also have a look into the camera thing Rahdo ist doing (saw it first time in his Tapestry playthrough). He has some kind of an overlay camera to show cards and stuff upclose. Would love that in your videos, too.
Yes, I understand the perspective wasn't ideal in this play through as much of the board was tough to make out. I will look into ways to get some of the card information in a close up like you mentioned.
Its live greenscree, I do the same these days, well with pink screen (too much green in board game cards) for tapestry though I used a moving camera with a second camera for close ups.
46:21 Are you allowed to do the bonus action since the shadow empire is already ahead of your? OR does this count only for automa (yellow), OR doesn't this matter at all in Solo play?
If I understand the question, nothing another opponent does effects whether you take a bonus action or not. It's always up to the player (and whether they have the resource) as to whether they take the bonus action or not. Now, there are some times when you advance on a track as the result of something other than a traditional Advance action (perhaps by a card effect) and you're specifically told that you don't gain the benefit or the ability to get the bonus, but otherwise it's the player's choice.
I usually dont bother with balance in the solo experience since I can choose the AI difficulty freely, nerfing or buffing a civilization will only be yet another difficulty modifier
You knocked over your market before your 3rd income phase and put it back in the wrong place - completing a row. This gave you an extra point that you shouldn't have had. Not a huge deal, but just something I picked up immediately as you were doing it.
I think at the end of the automa’s income, you need to shuffle all the cards. You instead put away the previous two cars giving it one less turn every era after the first.
I was shuffling all of the cards during the Automa’s Income turns. There is an order of operations on the Automa Income Board that I was following. One of the steps involves placing 2 cards from the progress deck into the discard pile. You then shuffle all of the cards together, including the 2 newly placed cards. You’re therefore adding another potential turn to the Automa each age.
Okay then my mistake. For some reason I thought you didn't shuffle them and left them out, but I looked at the first three ages and you did them correctly. My bad.
Yeah I wish this had been more helpful... 21:41 “If there are no cards left and the current card has this symbol on it...” What symbol?! Show the card to the camera or something. The automa rules are hard enough to follow as it is...
Generally nicely explained and pleasant to watch, but soooo many mistakes (many more than you caught). By-in-large you explained things correctly, but often forgot to implement them at a later stage, or looked at the wrong part of the cards etc.
Yeah I agree. Having the main board square makes it really awkward. Going to be lots of reaching and straining to see once you cram the player boards in there.
Plays great...not sure about the aesthetics though. Those Christmas cookie minis are some of the worst I've ever seen. The smaller player pieces look way better.
definetly, would gladly have payed 5-10£ less and have them being just ordinary not prepainted plastic miniatures or even tiles with pictures of the buildings on them for 10-15£ less
I’m sorry the angle didn’t appeal to you. I was trying to place the focus on the player board and the Automa cards; but by doing so I lost some of the board clarity. I’ll try to take this into account in the future.

Although I'm late to the Tapestry party but this was super helpful. I was struggling a bit just using the rule book. Thanks Mike!
at 37:08, the toppled outpost shouldn't be in the tiebreaker card?
You're absolutely correct. I was looking at the Track Card, when I should have been looking at the Tiebreaker Card. They shouldn't have toppled there. Thanks for the catch!
@@solomodegames thanks, I was wondering if I had misread the rules. Thank You also for the awesome playthrough btw, its great. =)

You're quite welcome. I think.
24:33 Did you need to add two top cards from the Progress deck before shuffling the Decision deck?

it looks like a green screen with a second camera. I don't know if it's live as an overlay or he edits the second camera onto the main video.
@@nguinguingui I think it's live overlay. He sometimes moving cards, so that they dont't cover important parts of board.

Great video. I’m just starting out with solo Tapestry - found this very useful. Cheers Mike!
Thanks for the play through, really entertaining. Can I ask you about type and number of sleeves?
Thanks for the playthrough. Seems simple enough. Lots to think about. Not sure this is for me though but who knows.

Thx, looks I've got this wrong from another playthrough. Checked the rules and I agree with you.
Thank you, Mike! Great to see you running this Automa.
I'm so happy you guys changed the intro! UHHFFFFF such a relief! :D
Also - can;t wait to get my hands on Tapestry :3
Lucky duck! Loving your podcast Mike!
Thanks so much, Dave!
Have you paid at 29:59 for advancing on technology track, was not visible.
Thanks for the play through
You're quite welcome!
Tiles are always face up in front of you, even in a multiplayer game. See rules.
Yep I was going to say that hahaha
Ordered my copy yesterday. How does the updated rules change solo gameplay?
I usually dont bother with balance in the solo experience since I can choose the AI difficulty freely, nerfing or buffing a civilization will only be yet another difficulty modifier
42:45 "Ooops" Hahahahaha
Ah I see, this way you can also complete rows ^^
Thanks for the play though Mike.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching.
Your tiles are face up in a multiplayer game, FYI.
30:05 That landmark it's claimed
you also missed the 10 points for topple for the autome. cheers
Is this a prototype copy, or is this the production version with final art?
This is a production copy with final art and components.
Have to see this at Essen Spiel’19 before I decide, but thx for the playthrough, well done
Thanks. This was informative.
Dang, stonemaier going hard with these sponsorships

@@tychay No worries! I was doing the shuffling off camera, and so I can understand the confusion.

When does the playthrough start? I'm 8 minutes in....
The amount of space this game takes up on the table is frankly ridiculous.
Yeah I agree. Having the main board square makes it really awkward. Going to be lots of reaching and straining to see once you cram the player boards in there.
