I became an avid Korean music aka Kpop listener/lover since 1998. Korean and rap music was my coping mechanism from the bullying I experienced in middle school through high school and it's stuck by me ever since. When I made this TH-cam name, I was thinking from my graphic-design-major perspective of a brand that will not only describe what my content will be about but will also align with the times, and y’all know that “Kpop stans” have been a thang for awhile now so... OG + KPOP STAN. (My love for Eminem is also relevant.😂) ALSO! Just to be SUPER clear- me calling myself an "OG kpop stan" does NOT mean that anyone who's listened to kpop after me is inferior or less-than. A kpop lifestyle is a kpop lifestyle regardless of time. Please don’t get that sh*t twisted.😛

The "nah, they don't hear me tho" is Rosanne talking, unsure of herself and wanting to be heard... and she's just reminding herself that everything she needs is on the ground. She can still be heard but be grounded and happy, without losing herself.
Loved your reaction and finally someone that understands the deep emotions and concept. You can see at 5:06 that current Rosé is talking to her younger self and that this whole song has that kind of meaning. Even though a lot of fans aren’t too fond of the chorus and prefer Gone, she chose OTG to be the title because of how much the song means to her.
Exactly no one can seem to connect and understand the meaning behind this masterpiece I cried when I first heard it.
@@Itsupimup yeah and I’ll admit it took me a few listens before I could appreciate the actual music but the LYRICS got me the first time whew. Wish more people read the lyrics before judging.

You're right. Rosé has a LOT of say in this project,from participating in writing the lyrics, to MV storyline, to album materials, she was very hands-on. She said she hope that by this project, she was able to comfort everyone and remind everyone not to take everything we have right now for granted.
Can't wait more solo projects from her in the future.
That song was excellent. When you get the chance, you'll probably also enjoy "Ponzona" by Purple Kiss (the newest group under RBW Ent)

Rose is my bias from the start because of her unique and angelic voice. And every time she speaks a word it feels like I am in heaven. Love You Rose, So Proud of You!
Your interpretation is the exact message Rosé was trying to send 🥺she even talked about it unfortunately that message didn’t reach or resonate with many but I’m so glad you understood. I was in tears when I first heard it I’m beyond proud of her she really has made it ,and I’m glad she has found herself more importantly.
It takes time to realize the truth of the concept and I hope a lot of younger people can understand this as well. I can relate to this song so well because I did the same thing and gave it all away because I realized I didn't need it, I just wanted it. This song hits very close to home and I love it. My three daughters should listen to this song and then they will understand as well.

Very, very sad that she had to wait so long, but, in another perspective, that time contributed to deliver this very mature song/version of herself. I loved it so much and Rosie is so amazing!

Anyone else notice that when she’s in either black n pink shes rose’ from black pink and when she’s white she’s her old self, from the beginning, shes in black n pink, all the chandeliers are from the other videos, she walks through them in black representing the dark sides, she turns white and runs away while things explode, scenes from old videos, also background theater, her lifes a show, sign says happy holidays then everything explodes or the meteor or her comes down and explodes and she walks away, she swings back to her past, roses are dead, her self as black pink, love is fake, what she thought she wanted wasnt real up there, hence the white rose’s and one black one. And then her as black pink goes back to her old self in white who sings to her blackpink self, scene goes to white rose’ writing rose’ then roseanne appears and she disappears, moving forward she floats in pink finding herself and floating just above white and pink rose’s but doesnt fly away and finds balance. Am i trippin?

The thing I love about Blackpink songs and even solos of Rosé and Jennie... Is how they interpret things in a different way where their listeners would relate, understand and look things in a different perspective...
In an industry (or even in normal life) where competition is high, where people could fight on who's the best, of who's on top, or whatever things that represent prestige, fame and status... ON THE GROUND is like a reminder that it's always not how high you can fly or reach... Its not the beautiful things you see up there thats important... Cuz in the end what really matters are the things on the ground that you already have but neglected on your way up... It will always be your Family, real friends and most of all YOURSELF that really mattered..
"what goes up it must come down" remember that because the hardest fall often come from being EGOTISTIC and boastful.. So stay humble and grounded everyone😊

I think a lot of the video shows that fame and success bring you things that eventually pass, or can be easily destroyed. The theatre with daily shows gets closed. The star falls to earth. The limo burns. The chandelier falls. While she is on the stairway up, "Roses are dead, Love is fake". Love goes up in flames while she swings above.
So I love that your interpretation of the final scene matches up with that. Where she does not soar away, but stays in touch with all of the roses on the ground. (also you made me realize that the theatre closed down)
Edit: There are also already a Making Of video for this, and Inkigayo performances of both On The Ground and Gone. I guess they are the first 2 English-only songs on Inkigayo.

I had such mixed feelings the first time I listened to this but now I do like it a lot. I just hope this is a tease of what her future as a soloist will be like because I think Rosé is a great vocalist. Something about the tone of her voice is so appealing to me and I don't think anyone else sounds like her. She has a genuine rawness that comes across in her voice, even more so with English lyrics that I can understand. 🌹

This video is about roseanne (young) and rosé (now) the white and simple clothes is her more young... the other closes more sufisticade is her now.... she have a lot of dreams but when she reach them is was just an ilusion it wont bring happiness.. she sacrifice the best years of her life (since 16 years old) always practicing singing and dancing in korea alone.... she doesnt have nobody.
So she is saying that she prefers the roseanne and not rosé... she is all about nature, familly, swings, friends and her trueself.. so she hit the limosine (luxury, fame) whith a asteroide and prefer the swing(youngerself)

The concept of on the ground does remind me of IU's celebrity and it is very surreal to hear them talk about their point of view as an idol who achieve so much in their career and their life in general

FOR REAL! I love the lyrics.. because if you see BLACKPINK rn they are so successful and they're like on the TOP. Like the lyrics, she says "I worked my whole life
just to get right, just to be like 'Look at me, I'm never coming down' " to me it means that when she was a trainee she worked so hard because she thought that if she is on the top she will have everything, something like that, but now that she IS on the top she realizes that whatever she needs she will find it here '"on the ground" and she is happier here, again, On the ground!

Have you heard of Grace VanderWaal? When she was twelve years old, she had already been writing her own songs. She got on America's Got Talent and won that season against people who were far more familiar with the industry and Grace did it by using only her very own songs throughout the season (that was the first time in the history of AGT that somebody won using only their own original material and I am pretty sure that the record still stands now). She's a very grounded individual and she was actually surprised that she got so far, let alone WINNING! She's AWESOME!
There is a video of her on the Billboard TH-cam channel where she ends up accepting an award (just a couple of years after her AGT win) from the Women In Music awards. She performed right before the award was handed to her, it's a good song. But I am more interested in your reaction to her acceptance speech.
