    I don’t understand how some people criticize Connor’s voice actor for coming across bland or dull or poor in performance. Connor is Native American, they’re known for having more monotone voices, also due to English being their second language. When he speaks his own language he does a great job using more inflection and emphasis, which makes it more believable. And even in English, since he’s talked to Achilles for years in it, he becomes even less “dull” in his English speech tone when he talks as an adult compared to when he was a teen. Noah Watts did a fantastic job imo, similar to Roger Craig, they both needed to voice an aging character; Noah only had one game to do it. I appreciate Ubisoft putting actual native language into the game as well.

      I don't think it is really a problem with the voice actor more than his acting in certain scenes, the main reason there would be a weak script and lack of polishing. Considering it was rushed to release.

    Ahh I didn't get the whole "what you did 14 years ago" thing until I read the wiki so now it makes sense. Washington ordered Connor's village burned when he was a boy, not Lee. And it made total sense now why he was mad at Haytham too because obviously he knew but only brought it up just now to try to sway Connor to his side.

    • @Cruddy129
      @Cruddy129 7 ปีที่แล้ว +228

      A shame that he still goes against Lee even though technically Washington is the main man responsible for the village burned, so this plot twist affected nothing within the story

      which makes me sad because if you read forsaken , it makes sense that haytham waited until then. he knew connor wouldn't have believed him by just his word alone and needed proof. i just wish haytham STILL would have said something and that way connor would see he wasn't just saying it at this moment to get him to rally beside him and the templars.
      forsaken really murdered my soul for my top favorite characters (these two.) because it's just so simple... if haytham was vulnerable enough and emotionally strong enough to just tell connor HALF the things written in that journal of his , connor wouldn't have been able to kill him and they maybe could've actually worked together and haytham could actually BE the man he was supposed to and actually wished and wanted to be, like connor.
      and if connor had just been open enough to maybe give haytham some benefit of the doubt , which i know is really difficult considering, but even the slightest bit could've changed the entire outcome of these two beautiful fucking people. seeing how they ended really breaks my heart every time.

      TheMegaUzumaki well to be fair the only reason Haythem even became a Templar was because his father Edward wasn’t around to raise him, leaving Haythem to find a parental figure in a Templar, can’t remember his name. And I would definitely describe Edward as a hedonist, after all, the only reason black flag occurred was because his pursuit of pleasure.

      ShangramKhan Here is a simple reason why its not a plot hole and why you are wrong: HAYTHAM...DOES...NOT...REALLY...CARE...ABOUT...CONNOR....AT...AAAALLLLLL.
      Haytham's love for his son was almost non-existent as was this case for his wife. He preffered duty over family, that's why he didn't care that much.
      The writing is perfect here fir showing how cold Haytham is, yet yiu fail to see something THIS SIMPLE. Man, people are stupid sometimes, especially those with no mind.

      You weren't a kid at 18-19 back then mate. You were an adult at 15. The concept of being what we call a child in modern days haven't existed for all of man's life. Back in the day you were what you would call a "small adult" children wasn't children and were supposed to act maturely and wore adult clothing in child size. You started working very early in your life.
      In tribal nations boys started hunting very early. Hunt and kill your prey = made you a man.
      You confuse our modern way of looking at child-toddler-teenager-adult and try to implement it in a time where those titles didn't exist. You were a child until you could work/hunt than you were an adult.
      A child with a gun in war is not a child.
      So don't feel THAT bad.

    "How long did you sit on this information." Good question, Connor.. Haytham doesn't seem to have an answer. He sat on it until he thought it would be a good time to sway Connor to join the Templar order, only to have it blow up in his face. Congrats, Connor.. You've earned my respect. When you stood up to your father for being a hypocrite.. Haytham's plan has gone under. I felt nothing for Haytham before, I felt Connor was naive. But, now.. Connor is not so naive. He isn't easily swayed and he has the courage to fight for what he knows is right. That is why he has earned the highest regards in my eyes.

      Thank goodness someone else sees it.
      There are far too many people who condemn Connor for his action, declaring him naive and idiotic when it was the best thing to do. Also, people don't seem to understand that Haytham did the same when Birch had explained why he ruined his life. He raged, but the difference is, Haytham killed him while Connor left, cut ties, and after killing him, grew to realize he made a mistake.

      Raeyne Jaymeson well, I think the people often forget just how young he was when all of this happened. He was around 14 years old, when what was basically in his eyes a goddamn goddess came down and told him he was the chosen one there to fight for the freedom of his people and to save the country. He spent the rest of his teenage years training to be a killer and being taught the ways of the brotherhood. Is it really such a surprise that he turned out to be so idealistic and had a lack of understanding about the greater world around him? He was only 20 when the revolutionary war broke out and he was thrust into the middle of political positioning and ideological conflict that he simply wasn't ready for.
      I think him not fully understanding how the world works makes perfect sense, it would have been ridiculous for him to have been wise and shrewd as basically a child.

He has a bolder character, because of his tragic childhood and life, his main goal is to train and revenge, giving his tribe freedom, which is a heavy burden for a young man. Ezio in the other hand had a wonderful childhood, lived in a peaceful, pretty and poetic place until his family was murdered, hence he was much different.

    I think the problem is that people often mistake stoic characters as being emotionless. Connor is indeed stoic, likely due to his harsh upbringing, but there are many points in the story where he shows emotion. Mostly anger, but also sorrow, and ever so occasionally, joy (again, not at all surprising given how awful his life is). Not all are spoken either, when he kills his friend and is hesitant to touch his body, that says so much more than words ever could. Not to mention that many of his softer moments are in the homestead and assassin recruitment side missions, which are just as much a part of the game as the main story. In effect, people miss the forest for the trees and only see his stoicism, missing all these great moments.

    He could have traveled to Europe to explore the world as he had no real ties in America anymore. His motivation could be to uncover the dark secrets of the Assassins, Templars, and the First Civilization. It would be incredibly awesome if Connor had to deal with a Sage in France during the French Revolution. You could spend most of the game searching for answers and freeing the French people. I would love if Connor found a memory seal and left a message for the present day Asassins. I also want to see him learn that Juno wasn't a supernatural being, but a precursor being. Ezio even learned this in his time period.

      ***** If Arno's going to make an appearance he'll have to be the one we take control as because he'll have to be the one to take him out (for obvious reasons). The DLC can be...Arno gets information about his father's killer and learns of the killers last known location. He sails to the New World and meets with the Colonial Assassins. Arno, then, heads to their HQ - the Davenport Homestead to meet with the Mentor of the Brotherhood: Ratonhnhaké:ton aka Connor. The two work together to find the, now, Grand Master of the Templar Order's American Rite, Shay Cormac! He is now leading a new team of Templar's and it is up to Arno with the help of Connor and fellow Assassins to stop Shay once and for all.
      At the last bit of the game both Connor and Arno is chasing down Shay. Shay leads them both into a trap where they're surrounded by numerous foes. Connor tells Arno, "Go! I'll handle this." Arno pursues Shay where they have their climatic battle alone. Though it seems Shay is going to make the killing blow Arno is the one to deliver it. A tired Arno can barely stand while Connor comes to his aid.Or Arno goes back to aid Connor only to see a bloodied Connor (looking all badass) left standing in the midst of a pile bodies.
      Lol. I had to make Connor awesome because 1, he is and 2, he's still my favorite Assassin even after Edward, Adewale, Shay, and Arno : ) I'm still hoping for a sequel starring Connor once again!

      Lee didn't give two shits about Connor's village. He just wanted the land protected so that the Templars could excavate it and look for the Grand Temple. It's ironic that after Rogue came out, that Haytham was made aware that Apples of Eden existed, and with his intellect should have known that he had already found the door to the Temple, The circular hole in the wall should have let him know that he needed an Apple and he wouldn't have even bothered having Johnson try to buy Connor's land illegally. So basically Rogue retconned AC3 quite a bit. I mean Shay had high tech weapons 20 years prior to Connor, and Connor didn't have shit other than his plain arrows and a few poison darts.

    Assassin’s Creed 3 is like the “Phantom Pain” of the Assassin’s creed series. Not only is it underrated, but it could have been so much more and would have remembered for years to come, if only Ubisoft had taken the time to actually fully flesh out the game instead of chasing this annual release schedule.
    There are so many moments, character dialogues and plot points that shine; so many glimmers of greatness, but ultimately, the rest of the experience just couldn’t hold up because of Ubisoft not wanting to wait too long, and not pour more resources to make this a phenomenal game.
    Still, it is probably the last game before AC truly went to shit.

    This is just sad, Connor learned, that it was not Lee that burned down his village, and that it was Washington. His father already knew it and didn't tell him earlier, and Connor was forced to kill his friend. Really sad mission, and honestly, Connor's story is just underrated.

      Imagine Ubisoft make Assassins' Creed Down Under where an Aboriginal Australian assassin whom I'll name Djarrjuntjun might have a similar past like Connor, hailed from West Australia. Then Connor (in Achilles' robes) joins Djarrjuntjun and Arno in the fight against James Cook and the templars who seek to colonise Australia.
      There will be iconic Red Rock, Sydney, Adelaide, Swan River Colony (now called Perth), Van Dieman's Land (now called Tasmania) and Canberra.
      1779 Djarrjuntjun assassinates James Cook
      The assassins meet Tarenorerer, Tunnerminnerwait, Yagan and Planobeena , assassins who will establish assassins of Native Americans, Aboriginal Australians and Polynesians. Djarrjuntjun, Connor and Arno meet these assassins to take part in rebellions against colony in Australia. Connor's daughter would surprise them from there.
      Peter Lalor who led through Eureka Rebellion
      Eureka Rebellion, Castle Hill Convict Rebellion, Rum Rebellion, Bathurst Rebellion, etc...
      Side missions, similar to homestead missions.
      Side mission, place the body of his deceased ma on top of Red Rock.
      Side mission, naval battles
      Side missions, helping the roos, koalas, platypus, snakes, spiders
      And bring back Desmond!

    day in the future when people will sober up from their Ezio hangover (no offence to Ezio, my fav as well), and will realise the kenway saga to be a top tier AC game. for me this is peak AC, Connor starting with nothing but a crippled mentor and restoring the Creed by himself. Connor for me is the best assassin second only to Ezio and Altair. He’s his own man; not an Ezio clone. He has his own personality.

    One question. Why did Haytham keep this information from Conner in the first place? Why not just tell him the truth about Washington's actions from the beginning? Had he come to Conner with the truth right away, he just might have earned his trust. Why did he sit on this information?

    • @DevilHunter1994
      @DevilHunter1994 11 ปีที่แล้ว +40

      Argonian Ale It just doesn't make any sense though. Haytham had no reason to protect Washington's secrets. He spent most of the game trying to discredit him and he spent all his time with Conner trying to convince Conner that Washington was untrustworthy. If anything it would have made more sense for Haytham to come to Conner with this information from the start. He would have succeeded in earning his son's trust and would have also robbed Washington of one of his strongest supporters. The Conner and Haytham interactions were usually the best written parts of the whole game but this was just bad.

    • @argonianale5716

      True

    • @DevilHunter1994
      @DevilHunter1994 11 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      ***** That's another reason why I think Haytham should have come to Conner with this information right away. The way I see it if Haytham had told Conner about Washington's betrayal right away two things could have happened. If Conner decided to trust Haytham, then the two of them could have worked together to stop the attack, thus strengthening their bond and making Conner easier to turn to the Templar cause. Another possibility is that Conner chooses to believe that Haytham is lying and decides to ignore his warning.Conner would of course realize Haytham was telling the truth when the attack actually took place. The destruction of his village would have caused Conner to lose faith in Washington, while simultaneously strengthening his trust in Haytham. He would have seen that his father was only trying to help him and would be more trusting of Haytham in the future. Both of these scenarios would have provided Haytham ample opportunity to turn Conner over to his way of thinking, but by waiting to reveal this information all Haytham did was make Conner question his motives. It became too obvious that Haytham was simply trying to use Conners feelings to get him to change sides. Conner realizes this and loses faith in Haytham as a result, so by keeping this information secret Haytham destroyed any chance he had of turning his son over to the Templars.

    • @DevilHunter1994
      @DevilHunter1994 11 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** I don't really see how. It seems like saying it at that moment only eliminated opportunities for Conner to become a templar. Haytham would have had a better chance if he had shared what he knew from the beginning.

Then he leaves his father when he was so close to building am alliance with him and maybe, MAYBE, starting over as son and father. The he has no choice but to kill his childhood friend. My heart ached for Connor so much
