The end of this game really was a phyrric victory. Connor has lost everything by this point, he can't really claim the victor. This game is so sad.
To me this is the best kill in assassin's creed history. No words spoke between either of them. The look in their eyes pretty much told the story. Haytham's death was great too. But I love this one more.
***** ac2 had a more generic story though. Ac3 had plenty of twists and turns along the way.
Assassin creed many death are done through the animus, but this one death had no dialogue, no animus, and no big declared from the hero. Just two men who knows what has to be done.
@@XXAnthonyCarmineXx he means that thing where the world becomes the white/grey animus memory chamber and its just the two characters talking to each other.
Old Woman: Need something, darling?
Connor: NO!
Me: WOW!
Old Woman: Rude
Me: I Agree. I've never seen him like this o_o
10 seconds in I already have to laugh.
Lady: Need something darling?
Connor: NO
As much as I hated Charles Lee's guts, I have to admit. That last scene was kinda noble. He knows what has to be done and in his last moments he gives Conner a gentlemen's gesture. He takes a drink, hands it to Conner, gives him a little smirk in his eyes with admiration saying, "You've done good boy, now finish the job." Charles knew what was coming in the end and kind of praised Conner in a respectful way at the end before he died. Charles was still a major douche though.
Kiss my fucking ass. Charles was a great and a loyal man since the begining unlike Connor the asshole
At least he did not try to escape again. Maybe he is thinking, Whats the point?
This is one of the many reasons why Assassins creed 3 has the best storyline of the series. Conner goes through hell and back yet maintains his morality.
i love the speech about how everyone is surendering and turning there backs on connor and why everyone wont fight against them and theres no stopping them, then asks why he persists. and connor says exactly the truth "because no one else will" and then point blanks lee in the gut.
Lee: Wow. You followed me all that fucking way with a hole in your stomach in these disease infested times. Okay, I'm not even fighting you totally earned this, have a drink, in fact.
+Avery Scott That quote would've ruined the scene. They are both hurt so they can't talk. No quotes is better but thats what Lee thought as well.
+Dylan Leewardus Clearly someone fails to recognize satire even as it stares them in the face.
Connor: CHARLES LEE!
Edward: ROBERTS!
Ezio: CESARE!
Altair: ABBAS!
Arno: ELISE!
Shay: LUCK!
I, ah... I haven't got anything for the Fryes.
While I praise Assassin's Creed IV for being more engaging, ACIII takes the crown for being more bitter. It gives more to talk about after finishing.
4:00 *"Because No One Else Will."*
Connor carries the most grit in this line in the entire game. The fact he was in near death and still chose to fight, even if he may not have woken up. Even if it started for his village, he grew to believe what he fought for was for everyone, including his people and the brotherhood.
one thing came to my attention all of desmonds ancestors got injured from their waist. Altair got knifed by his mentor from the same spot ezio got knifed two times from the same spot and now connor gets injured from the same spot
This was emotional, i love that little gesture Lee does. "Get on with it then"
But i dunno, the scene made it really hard to hate him.
Probably the most bitter victory I've ever had in AC.
It was bitter sweet, but then I remembered that he took a main role in framing Conner for George Washington’s death
I love this scene because it’s not some bombastic final boss fight taking place atop a castle in a raging battlefield against some precursor super weapon wielding dude.
Instead it’s literally 2 half dead guys stumbling into a random pub and sharing a drink, before one of them gets shanked.
It goes to show that more often than not, less is more.
The funny thing is that random pub if you look at the tavern sign is called The last drink
One thing I respect about Charles and haythem was their honour when they knew their time had come they didn't cry and weep or make excuses they simply excepted their fate and died with dignity
Everyone hates on AC3 for some reason, and Id say this is by far the best story of any game exceot for Black Flag. Where Black flag was a story of adventure, family, and facing the responsibilities we have in our lives, AC3 is also about family and responsibility but its very much a tragedy. Its sad Connors life ends up the way it does but Connor acknowledges that this is the way life is and that he must push on with is responsibility as an assassin.
idk to me personally ac2 still tops all in the story department. ac3 would be in the top 5 though for sure
Connor lost his village because of Lee, and Lee lost the Templar Rite because of Connor. Seems like both of them shared a battlefield of the Revolution.
@gamingandrewbro8815 it's fun getting to watch ezios character development from a 17 yr old playboy to an 40 yr old disciplined assasin
I loved the super quick exchange in the beginning..
"Need something darling?"
"NO."
"Rude."
I really like the body language in the last scene. Lee knows his number's up, and he clearly respects that Connor's made it this far and accepts his fate. Connor clearly doesn't hold that same respect for the man that butchered his home, but he grudgingly allows him his last moment - a real moment of growth from the impatient man he used to be.
Lee didn't do anything to his home, It was Washington!! It's 2023, yet people blame Charles Lee!! I wish Connor chose George as his Target than Charles
@@davedarius7346You forgot about the fact that Lee framed Connor for a crime he didn't commit and he almost got executed for it or the fact that Lee lied to the Natives. Making them believe that Connor was a traitor and that eventually led to Connor unwillingly fighting and killing his best friend. It's 2023 and you still think Charles Lee did nothing wrong. If Lee wasn't such an important member of the Colonial Order, Haytham would have killed him personally for causing the Boston massacre.
@@jrstrike4452 About the last point, I feel Haytham ordered the Boston Massacre and yeah, templars are kinda bad in a sense if u look at it that way but Assassin's are bad too, just not as open about it ......And Lee, he only did all that after Connor hunted down his fellow Templar brethren and soo...I really know Lee is a bad guy now tho, it's just I played this game when I was like 15 and I really didn't think that deep, thought Lee was okay but after completing my second playthrough last month, I see it more clearly....So Yes, I agree with your points now but I wish Connor did go against Washington in some way, which be did in Tyranny of King Washington but that's a different Washington....
@@davedarius7346 According to the novel Assassin's Creed Forsaken, when Haytham returned to America he learned about the Boston massacre and was seriously pissed at Lee for causing innocent people to die. At the same time, Haytham learned about Washington burning Connor's village and the death of his lover. He also found out that the Assassin that was hunting them down was his son and that Connor promised to find Lee. Now he knows that Lee is a dead man since Connor will stop at nothing to hunt him down. This added to Haytham's frustration towards Lee.
This is but only one instance that proves how great of a game this is. This Assassination was so great, no words needed to be said. The impact this scene leaves can only truly be understood by those who appreciate AC games for what they are, and have pure Eagle Vision to see how deep and important this game is. In a way, Lee praised Connor for his determination and persistence in his goal, and in the end, he achieved it. Connor is truly the best Assassin.
Yeah the best for killing his father and killing Charles Lee (who was capable of killing him) disrespectfully.
Connor is such a badass
shouldn't have bullied connor when he was just a kid.
@@ooofsized2036 bruuh he almost choked out 6yrs old Connor, that definetely counts as bullying
I love that he didn't have a final confrontarion with Charles like he did every other major character he killed, it's a subtle gesture from the game to tell you that he didn't kill Charles for any other purpose than revenge, the reason for the animosity between the two need no explanation.. Connor just killed Charles for revenge.
Mayormente fue por venganza pero también lo tenía que hacer para proteger a su pueblo y hacer su labor de asesino que tenga odio contra el lo hizo más facil
I used to want to kill Charles Lee so much, but then once I killed him...IT just wasn't really worth it. It was just such a sick death. I mean, I felt guilty than revenge.
Wdym CLEARLY The Last of Us Part II did it better
You're just a cis-white male bigot Neil Dickmann was right
@@idanzadok5347 just sarcasm on TLOU2's handling on revenge since how badly they've fucked it up
I love charles' little gesture there at 8:44 "Go on, get on with it"
Most epic game of "tag" ever!
Whether we hate him or not, Charles took his inevitable death like a real man. After a big showdown he immediately went to a bar to grab what was probably the Strongest liquor they had, and awaited being found, only to share a drink with not just an assassin, but his fellow man. He was bested and the look he gave Connor really admitted that, Charles lee is responsible for the plot that hit hardest out of the AC franchise imo, and it's good to know that he was given an honorable death by Connor.
I love this ending. I really don't care what any one says about Assassin'S Creed 3 honestly, I had a great time playing this. Same with his bad ass Grandfather in Black Flag.
I love how Connor can change outfits on a whim! Man must be magical!
That’s the only thing the remastered version got right, Connor doesn’t change his clothes in the cutscenes.
What the heck? Connor shot Lee in the chest point blank range and he survived that?!?! Also he was able to climb down that entire boat while bleeding and having a bullet in him? Then instead of maybe going to a doctor or getting help he just goes to a bar and gets wasted on beer waiting for Connor. Great idea charles.
He knew Conner was just going to keep hunting him down. He knew Conner wasn't going to stop until he was dead. So he took his last moments in a bar, drunk. No better way of going out then being drunk while it happens, right?
This may be an old comment to reply too but I felt it needed to be said. Back in those days, Guns shot musket balls, not bullets. Belly wounds like the one he gave Lee could not be operated or healed back in the day if you took a shot there.
Belly wounds were fatal wounds, no matter how long it took to die generally.. they didn't have the knowledge back then to heal that kind of wound.
I payed too much attention and read a lot of useless info about the revolutionary war... Lol
Connor Stewart he is dumb
Connor left his knife on the table
And lee was just sleeping
Yet you fight. You resist... Why?
Connor: BECAUSE NO ONE ELSE WILL!
when he says "i dont like having my time wasted" that was really good lip syncing
I love that ending scene with them two.
I loved the screenplay of this scene. The wry smile as he hands Connor the wine. Weary & resigned to his fate. Not having the will to fight any longer. Charles knows whatever awaits him it will be less painful than his wounds.
A beautiful & subtle scene.
I love the way he just accepts death at the end. Its such an epic ending
Would've been hilarious when the old woman asked if he wanted anything and he just screamed out. "GIVE ME LEE!"
Such a chivalrous ending. He knows he's lost but in the end, they have a nice drink together and there is no sense of vengeance, just what needs to be done.
when connor said "I know you can. " his eyes looked like it got darker and bigger
the face animations have been done so well in this game. You can see all the emotions, and that makes scenes like the drinking scene here so strong. Words arent even needed, you can read their feelings from their face.
ladie: can i help you?
connor: no.
CONNOR YOU ARE SO EPIC!!!
Connor really did it, the absolute madman. He found out where Charles Lee is
Now, if Lee were smart, he would've put poison in that bottle
Well, Lee drank first before giving it to Connor, to prove that there isn't something in the bottle. If he didn't, then Connor wouldn't have drunk it. But I do agree with your thinking because I thought of that when I first saw this scene
Well, Connor would've killed him way before the poison could've taken effect. He's gonna die anyway, why would he worry about a poison?
Eric D he would’ve died either way. It could’ve just been a non-fast acting poison, as in it would take a minute or 2 for it to set it. But, I doubt he had the time or will to do it.
i like when after charles lee says yet you fight you resist why? then conner says because no one else will
At least Lee shows his kindness by sharing a drink with Connor
Oh yeah, I'm half-dead and on my way to execute the man I've been hunting my entire life, I'll just stop to attack a convoy and liberate a fort, no big deal.
Charles Lee went from looking like Haytham’s puppy to looking like he drowns puppies
Honestly so far I love this death in gaming history, just because how Charles is just like, "You know I'm fucked I'm gonna get drunk."
Damn , i didn't notice Connor stared into Charles Lee's eyes when he stabbed him
We need a sequel to this. I want to see more of connors adventures after this
Any time a villain accepts his death and takes it like a man, I immediately respect the hell out of them.
7:36 no words no final confrontation just 2 men on the brink of death enjoying a drink together with the common understanding that only one of them is walking away absolutely beautiful, people sleep on AC3 its personally my favorite they say Connor is a bland character and doesn't really stick with you like Ezio did but thats kinda the point Connor is just really dedicated to killing the templars a man of skill determination and pure fucking will and I respect that.
Connor's intimidation technique is something straight out of Haytham's book. Like father like son.
This is probably the most realistic boss battle lol. In real life if you see an assassin hunting you with a tomahawk, you won't stand to fight, you will haul ass!
How did Lee not see that gun
Anyone notice how all the people are cheering as you're chasing Lee? Awesome.
Music in this game always gives me chills
i love how you could actually witness all of his growth as a person
4:08 this one exchange between Charles and Connor sums up the entirety of the assassins creed games, it feels. One of the biggest reasons why AC 3 is if not my favorite assassin’s creed game, one of my favorites.
It was very interesting to see the templar's point of view. All of them are correct regarding Connor's idealistic mindset.
The only reason why this game was hated was because Ezio wasn't in it.
That's not fair. Imagine what sadness must have brought to the people who put so much time creating it.....
If you listen to the song playing while he kills Charles Lee (Connor's Life- Song name) it plays the music from all the main events in Connor's life, When he became an Assasin, killed Haytham and killed Charles Lee.
Got to hand it to Connor.
For all of the hate he received, he was nothing if not persistent
I love assassins creed
No matter what, the dialogue in AC 3 are the best!!!! After Revelations that is
the delivery of that "because no one else will" still shakes me
Great video, thank you !
At least Connor gets his revenge unlike Ellie who gives up at the end
Lol you people really can't stop complaining. Move on, Tlou2 didn't kill your family. And if you complain about the ending, you either didn't play the game or just didn't get the point of it, or maybe both. But I don't really care, I have better things to do than complain about something all day, right?
We imagine this scene as Assassin Jon Snow chasing and finally killing Templar Roose Bolton finally avenging Robb and Catelyn and freeing the north.
When Connor was an assassin, and he met up with Haytham and George, Haytham pointed out "Tell him what you did 14 years ago", which is approximately the time his village burned.
If they're such bad ass Templars why the fuck do they run?
Their strength comes from power. The Templars haven't been fighters since Ezio's games.
+Pug Life Ceasre and the pope (forgot the name) were man enought to face you.
I do not like having my time wasted.
Truth.
This has to be my favorite scene
Thank you...it helped me out a lot!!!
At 9:32 we can barely read what they are drinking. "Old Overholt Whiskey" This is an actually existing rye whisky, but not established before the 1810's
you've said it beautifully my friend. Yes, I must admit that Connor had to grow on me. I sort of missed Ezio's boldness, but after a while I began to understand Connor. He's one of the best main characters I have seen in a game. The enviroment was annoying at the beginning, but eventually it became fun and challenging. and the music.... it just blows your mind. I really, really loved AC3. Maybe more than pt2
Connor after killing Charles Lee:
WHERE’S CHARLES LEE
The first time I saw this cutscene online, I thought perhaps Connor had been overwhelmed out in a battle.
I loved charles lee he was good man but money, power corupted the man
did the waitress snort? XD
what i like the most is the face he makes after the drink, hes like "okay get it over with i dont have all day"
ACIII is a tragedy. I wish Connor made most out of his life like Altair did after all that he has been through
9:10 My reaction whenever I get Rick Roll'D.
Whenever I watch this video, I feel so proud of myself!
R.I.P worthless piece of crap.
I played many videogames and this is one of the best scenes I've seen, made me stand up from my chair
Lol this moment on ship when they are talkin is like dialogue with the Prophet an Mister Smith from Matrix XDD
*sigh*
connor is the best, there really isnt a contest. and anyone who says his story isnt the best just isnt paying attention. its far superior to ezio and altair, simply because it shows him trying to do the right thing, but only making things worse as it goes along. ezio and altair have practically never tasted failure (ezio's family getting executed is one exception, while connor does almost nothing but fail. his beliefs are constantly questioned and he doesnt know who to trust.
none of the other assassins have gone through such a crisis in their lives, but are instead more outwardly appealing. thats why 90% of the fanbase prefers the others, because they didn't bother actually investing themselves into the 'boring' character in the 'worst' game of the franchise.
You're pretty wrong in this. I completely agree with your points about Connor, he joins the Assassin Brotherhood as a means to help save his people, but in reality, his efforts may have only made it worse. It's hard to tell though, because even the British might have wanted to expand westward if they held the colonies. Remember, the Native Americans, other than the Cherokees, all sided with the French in the French and Indian War. So really, Connor might have lose either way.
Altair suffered a lot of tragedy though. His father was killed. His wife was killed. His son was killed. His best friend (Malik) was wrongly imprisoned by Abbas and killed. He lost a lot of his men to the Mongols. Really, other than Darim and his knowledge, he lost pretty much everything by the end. Altair, you could actually make the case, lost more than Connor in his life.
Ezio lost his father and brothers, but also his Uncle and his first true love, Cristina. You could also make the case that he cared for Yusuf quite a bit before losing him.
The reason people don't care for Connor isn't so much his story, which in my opinion was quite good. It's because he had no personality. It's hard to relate to Connor when he seemed to stoic. Personally it doesn't bother me, but when you're used to the energetic and personable Ezio Auditore and Edward Kenway, someone who comes off so monotone is hard to get behind.
Connor does have personality more than you know. Connor, to me, actually feels more like a realistic character. ACIII felt very believable despite its poor mission structure.
***** Well said, my friend. I agree on everything you said except that Connor was a boring character, after Ezio's ladiesman story i think that he was a very refreshing character.
phoenix-force411 And in my opinion, you just hit the nail on the head. I think the reason people didn't like Connor, is not so much the character - though in my opinion I did find his personality stretched to thinly-, it's because of the horrendous missions such as the tunnels, the potential for controller throwing induced by the disgustingly strict optional adjectives, and the extremely boring home-front missions.
The list is practically endless for what the game did wrong in regards to it's narrative and what it could have done better. Not to mention the numerous number of glitches. Some minor and some serious. I completed all the brawls yet the database refused to accept it for example.
All this puts a player off in dribs and drabs. And before you know it, you take all that frustration out on the character occupying the screen throughout this frustrating en-devour.
"Connor's story is better because he's a shit character! People like the other Assassins just because they're better written!"
Yeah, sure.
One of the few scenes of a main antagonists death where you don't fade to 'that' background, and where they don't converse.
Symbolical
True, and he never made up with his father as well. Throughout the game the two were heading towards this emotional reunion to be, well a father and son again. Then it ended up never happening, which is a shame as Haytham's last words in the book Forsaken were that he wished him and Connor could have been more like a proper dad and son.
When Charles Lee first met haytham,He looked like a good and rich man. After like 20 years he looked like a drug addict.
RedcarGaming He did.
Yet another "young" and "honest" Man ruined by drugs
He's a monster.
Good and rich are mutually exclusive
Dark lord Kermit not honest
