It would be so beautiful if Apple got them. Apple do modern sci-fi right among all the streamers now. They don't skimp on teh budget and production value on their shows is top-notch. - Silo - Foundation -Severance. - For All Mankind - Monarch : Legacy of Monsters (sci-fi adjacent). And final Expanse books would make an excellent bookend to that brilliant collection. Naomi (Dominique Tipper) is already on one of those shows, so they may as well save some costs and have this show along for the ride.

Very grungy, but still full of class and style. Mass-Energy threshold. Mass and Energy are equivalent (see Einstein's most famous formula). The theory is that when the sum total of mass and energy passing through the rings reaches a critical point, the entities are triggered into action.
We can't miss it if that much of the budget went on her clothes 🤣 Technically you could manipulate it to activate it when you want if you know how it does now.
Don't worry about the Finale. We were all worried too, but it's one of those rare and satisfying occassions where you could say (of a show) that they truly stuck the landing. One of the best finales I've ever seen of a show I loved in years.
The mass-energy density is a combination of the mass of the ship combined with the velocity of the ship. And not just one ship moving at high velocity, it is a combination of many ships crossing the interface.
The penultimate episode of Band of Brothers was Why we Fight The penultimate episode of The Expanse- the same And no coincidence according to the show runner A great episode to start the run to the finale. Of course we all remember it for Amos, glitter, and the line “with you.. or WITH you??” (Honestly Amos and Bobbie going at it would properly spin up Ceres to more than one third G. Dangerous stuff) And a great reaction- keep the faith fellas. They may just stick this landing. And keep us all us Firehawks wanting more. The books are quality and books 7-9 are essential reading

I love A Song of Ice and Fire the most but George RR Martin’s writing style can get a bit cumbersome. Daniel and Ty (who write under the name James SA Corey) are much more to the point.

Turns out he knew what he was talking about! Once again the show makes just about everything on screen relevant later on....
And now we see exactly WHAT was that giant object that Laconia sent thru to Medina.. Proto-Tech enhanced advanced Martian. Statinary Railguns. 6 in total placed equidistantly around the ring station. (the zoom in on the display showed the 5 that could theoretically fire toward the sol gate.

Seeing Chrisjen's story arc from in the beginning until now is amazing! Nothing can compare to the scene between Drummer and Naomi! Literally broke my heart! The last episode is amazing! I was so nervous. Ive been disappointed to series endings before. But as I should have known, they stuck the landing IMO! Looking forward to it!

It's been pointed out in several stories and by combat veterans that soldiers long in combat are no longer fighting for "king and country," but for their fellow soldiers at their sides. If you didn't watch the X-Ray features, you missed a bit that added pathos to Naomi and Drummer's meeting. People talk about shows being "woke" these days, and The Expanse, particularly this episode, tics all the boxes of "woke," but manages to be gloriously entertaining. They did it right.
The general idea is that the size of a ship (or series of ships) combined with the speed that it (they) transits the ring can trigger the entities that is why it appears random at first but there is a definite threshold which includes a time quotient. Basically the bigger and more massive the ship, the slower it should go and the more you should space ships out transiting a ring.
It's like pouring water into a funnel. If you pour slowly everything's fine. If you pour too fast, the water spills out over the edge of the funnel and you get a big mess.

Great reaction fellas, as always. I think you've likely worked out that you're not going to get a conclusion to everything. The books are structured like this 1-3, 4, 5-6, 7-9. The next episode is the end of book 6. Without giving anything away, just trust the writers on this. They know what they're doing. There's still a trilogy of books to go. After the next episode, I'm afraid you'll just have to wait for a studio to pick up the remaining books... like the rest of us..!! 🙂

@@RamblersInc That’s kind of a complicated answer because from season four on it’s like Game of Thrones, where a single season is a single book. Season 4 is book 4, 5 is book five etc. etc. But in the first three seasons, it IS the first three books but the start and end points are all over the place. Book 1 is like seasons one and two, books 2 is seasons 2 and three. And book three is like 8 episodes in season 3. It’s a blur lol. This could be completely wrong, but I read that they didn’t know how long the series was going to go on for so they tried to cram as much as they could in early on. It’s WHY the first three seasons literally do not stop after it gets going. It’s bombshell after bombshell. Now once Amazon picks it up, notice it starts to slow down, and operates like most shows where there’s a buildup, and then a climax, and then a resolution.
@@RamblersIncNow, I think they could condense the last three books into two seasons. But it would have to be at the breakneck pace of the first three seasons. I think book 7 can be condensed considerably. But books 8 and 9 really need time to shine.

One of the best finales I've ever seen of a show I loved in years.
For me the most moving line of the entire show is Michio's 'I will live under the Inners' yoke and I will help Josep find a way to also.'
Come to think of it, it's kind of a spoiler, since it implies that you won't hear an even more moving line in the final episode, bwahaha.
She's actually willing to do what it takes just to find some peace.
Luckily the season finale is a full hour and i personally loved everything about how it ends. I cant wait to see your reaction for the series finale.

Finished 7-9 recently and am going thru 1-6 and novellas for the first time after seeing the show a good 10-20 times 😅
The last trilogy is amazing, but I recommend starting the books from the start, it's well worth the time.

The Laconia bits are a set-up for later books. They pretty much had to go here. I saw it as faith in the future of the show, one way or the other.

Laconia was set up as the "big bad" for the last three novels in the series.
