I don’t think Dontai as a smaller man (not trying to joke), understands the struggle of physical abuse on bigger men by smaller people in general. The issue is that it takes a while to even know you’re getting abused. But then the hits start to hurt, not physically but emotionally. And if you don’t have people in your life to guide you, you feel like you have no choice but to defend yourself.

Thing is, whether or not someone is charged with DV isn't up to the 'victim', not once the cops are involved. If they arrive and see evidence of DV they will arrest someone (almost always the guy, even if he's the victim) and from there it's up to the prosecutor. The 'victim' doesn't get to change their mind. So her saying Oneya is lying and that she could have pressed charges if she wanted is completely nonsensical.

What kills me about stories like this is the fact that should anything come out alleging you of a crime (domestic abuse, sexual assault, etc etc) you're immediately fucked. Whole life, whole trajectory, everything just gone. Nobody follows 'innocent until PROVEN guilty' anymore, they just make up their mind off first assumption and roll with it, and god forbid you come out later with damning evidence proving you innocent. You'll never hear an apology, you'll never hear outcry from them saying they were wrong. They just move on to fucking over the next person's life. This internet shit is really sad sometimes

This is because most people only see the allegations and they never see the actual proof or case. Most people only care whats going on in their online and personal environment. It's not uncommon to randomly see people talk bad about celebs or micro celebs and believe them without substantial evidence. All it has to do is fit a narrative in your head. And, if you don't care or hear about the celeb/micro celeb on a somewhat daily basis, those negative videos on the celebs could create those narratives for you. It would be up to the algorithm to suggest videos that go against those claims to even have a chance at changing those people's views.

Yep. People don't actually look into charges or potential charges. I got a charge for illegally concealing a firearm and now no food delivery apps will let me work.
