My #1 rule: if they're hostile on the phone, return the food to the restaurant and report it to your delivery service. They'll cancel the order for you (won't affect your stats) and you may get a couple bucks as compensation. My saying is this: Rude means no food. Or, pass on the ass.
I deliver for Amazon and you wouldn’t believe the amount of notes left to take the package to a different address that is like miles and miles away like no it’s getting left where you ordered it to go
Question why do all you Amazon drivers drive crazy. I’ve almost been killed a few times by these maniacs. Not saying it’s you. But the rest of them fuckers
@@itsmehi90 They often like to just deliver to one of my neighbors and then I never see it cause my neighbors keep it. FedEX is probably the worst. It gets easier the longer you do it because you know everything to expect. I was so nervous when I first started too lol. It also helps that you learn the streets so well and eventually will have been to every restaurant several times. It becomes second nature.
@@blahblah1438 it’s a great way to discover new places. I do that all the time. I always look at what people order mostly out of curiosity and I’m like “dang that sounds great actually” 😂
Btw, most of the time that the restaurants are running late with the order, it’s not their fault. DoorDash tends to send the dashers too early, we’ve had dashers sent 10 mins til it was ready, and they’ve gotten pissed so we would get calls from support, hate those calls
Hey Austin! I’m a new dasher and I dash in the same area! (I will also go to Beaufort as well because I live between both zones). Just wanted to say great channel and I am looking forward to new videos.

Hey Austin, I really enjoyed your video. I found it to be very informative and I will continue to watch. Thanks for sharing your experience. And my state, I'm in Texas there is no way I can go in those restaurants with a camera somebody might shoot me LOL
hey man, new dasher here. just wanted to say thanks for mentioning that bit about the address. i just had a customer yesterday try to change his address on me mid-dash as well (he panicked bcs he had scheduled a delivery time and he thought i would get there too early so he wanted me to go to his current location. which i couldnt do because this dash was actually a double and i ended up waiting 15 mins for the 2nd customers food) i met him at the location he put in the app (and yes it was at his scheduled delivery time slot) but he still left a 1 star and said it was because didnt follow instructions. it makes me really frustrated because the guy got his food, at his scheduled delivery time, at his scheduled location and then he did that to me. is there anything i can do about that? i screenshot all the text messages just in case DD ever asks me what happened
I had a woman (no tip order) call me up and yell at me for no valid reason. She tells me she is going to give me a bad rating like it is going to hurt me. My rating went from a 4.96 to a 4.92. I was still way above the 4.7 needed to be a top dasher.

I’m surprised Doordashing on Hilton Head island is even very busy, considering there is only a permanent population of around 40,000?? How many people could actually be using it at one time?
I asked a Walmart employee on Hilton Head island the other day how many DoorDash orders they pick on an average weekend and she told me the highest to date was over 6,000 orders! That's an average of 2,000 orders a day and thats just one store!
I'm not a dasher but where I live we only have 4 places on the app we can order from and they are all in the same Lil plaza together lol I use doordash everyday bc I'm disabled and don't drive. I'll tip between 5-12 dollars plus leave 10-20 on the porch table for them.
Iv been thinking about trying out this doordash setup but live in the middle of nowhere. I'm about 25 mins from the Penn state college I wonder if it's worth driving to that college town and rolling orders. Anyone from state college here lol? Also I lived in Beaufort SC in the marines Hilton Head is a really nice area
I’ve had something similar like that happened to my dash the other day… Had an old lady call me to say she was in the hospital. But neglected to say she was at the hospital address for drop off, as I had arrived at her listed address on the app. Needless to say I was high, calm and took the deliver to her. But yeah can be frustrating lol
I noticed that you didn't use a thermal bag even once on your deliveries. I don't understand why dashers find this acceptable. You even check that box before you dash. Have a small heat bag and invest in a catering bag to carry the larger bags like McDonalds, Cracker Barrel and any other large orders that you may have. Try to hustle a little more. Im sure that your customer was angry because you were extremely late delivering their food. I mean you took a "lunch break" and walked on the beach during the lunch rush. Who does that? You seem like a nice guy but you clearly don't understand what it takes to be a competent food courier and even worse, you are teaching others how to slack too. I hope you can improve your service.
I had three idiots fail to deliver to my (dropped off at random door), then one who would not deliver unless I met them at their car. Going with Grubhub.
So breaking down the math for the average 8 hour day you made $17 an hour and burned how much in gas for the day? i’ll average it out to $30 and put you at $106 profit minus tax so let’s take $10 off.. so your net profit for that day is $96, which puts you really at $12 an hour income except you’re putting mileage and wear and tear on your car. So if this was a side hustle, I could see the extra money adding up and being worth it, but as a main hustle it seems like the margin for profit is slim.
Your math is wonderful. However some of us have issues where we don't last at regular jobs. This guy also took several that I wouldn't have accepted. I have zero tolerance for orders where miles are higher than pay. And I don't gamble on "maybe" tips. So it has to work out for some of us
Well you also fail to incorporate the fact we get tax write offs (milage specifically is $0.56 a mile) which in turn raises our $ per hour. Not to mention there are other reasons for doing DD as a main hustle than just making an insane amount of money, some like the freedom it grants you unlike conventional jobs. As someone doing this part time while in college, even with the taxes and maintenance costs, I still make well above $15 an hour for the little time I work and is well above what I would make working a 6 hour shift at a part time job. I basically make what I would in 6 hours in 3 with doordash which ultimately gives me more time to focus on school. Again just remember as freelance contractors we are considered our own business and therefore have access to tax write off for not only milage but car maintenance, phone bill, etc.
My #1 rule: if they're hostile on the phone, return the food to the restaurant and report it to your delivery service. They'll cancel the order for you (won't affect your stats) and you may get a couple bucks as compensation.
My saying is this: Rude means no food. Or, pass on the ass.
Had a woman threaten to slap me upon delivery. Customers should be banned for this bs..
That's common scam. They call you and tell you to deliver to a different address and then say the order was never delivered.
In this case , take the photo, so that we have the proof that it was delivered.
I call door dash and report it, give a little and I mean little amount for extra milage

Your math is wonderful. However some of us have issues where we don't last at regular jobs. This guy also took several that I wouldn't have accepted. I have zero tolerance for orders where miles are higher than pay. And I don't gamble on "maybe" tips. So it has to work out for some of us
Does this guy strike you as being a hustler? He’s a laid-back surfer. The guy literally went to the beach mid shift
@@DanLetts97 yeah, true
@@DanLetts97 lol I've gone surfing on lunch break in florida/south Carolina too it's a georgous beach area
