1966 Dodge Dart GT

  • Restored 1966 Dodge Dart GT. Factory 273 car. Has built 360 now with 727 manual valve body and 8 3/4 with 3.91 sure-grip. TTI headers. Original a/c car with power brakes and power steering. Factory yellow with black interior(bucket seats, console and Woodgrain wheel). Fully painted top to bottom. Cragar S/S all around. Very clean car.

    Have a 66 GT, the six is whooped , been hanging on putting a 383 Magnum or a 273 In to it. ,

      Power to weight ratio is better with a small block in these cars.

    Question?/ what oil pan do you have under the 360 Mag? i started out following Mopar Engine Swaps Simplifed- bought front engne mounts for 360- no problem the bolted up. Changed the Center link to a V8 unit- when I go to drop the engine in- The oil pan is resting on the center link. The Dart started out with 225 -6 and a 904- i don't know what I did wrong- rebuilt the front end- disc brakes, heavy torsion bars- replaced all of the steering up front-all new-where did I go wrong ??// Help-- Sun City AZ

      Oil pan stamped 392 for a 360 usually works fine. As long as you have actual v8 cross link. It drops down a lot.

    Hi. I have a 66 dart gt with 273 charger engine. Have been struggling to find proper upper radiator hose like the one you have. Can you please share what that hose is on yours and maybe where I can find one? Mine has AC as well. Thank you.

      Easier to switch to straight up thermostat housing and use a 60661 upper hose. Instead of trying to find a hose to work with the angled thermostat housing used on a/c cars.

    My first car was a 66 Dart Gt 273 cu " 4 Bl 4-speed manual
    it did not have dual exhaust (was that even an option?)
    It did not have a/c or power steering or power brakes.
    It had dual points and I think it had a 3.91 (not sure, was that standard or an option?)

      Dual exhaust isn’t factory. I put headers and a dual exhaust on this car. As for rear end they came with a smaller rear end and I upgraded it to a 8 3/4 rear with the 3.91’s.

      I believe they made a Dodge dart b dart, with a 275 horse 273, if the article was correct headers were made by Doug thorley, which should make them factory I believe

      @@danasmith1899 I seem to recall a special factory made Dart D designed for racing, my cousin owned my Dart before me and raced 1/8 mile with good success. I never raced it.
