    Forget about the perfect harmonies, Richie fucking Sambora steals the show! What an underrated, understated guitarist. He made magic with his guitar.

    I didn’t know this rendition. Jon and Richie were definitely an amazing, incredible and irreplaceable duo.

    That scream... I miss it. It was such an important part of this song in particular, not only because it brought up Jon's huge vocal range, but merely because it highlighted the pure passion and emotion of the song. Just compare this performance to something like Nijmegen 2019 and I'm sure you'll end up being very sad about Jon's deterioration, just like me :(

      100%. It’s unbelievable and tragic how much his voice has deteriorated.

    Richie's voice is amazing and compliments Jon's so well. That man deserved more credit that he was ever given in that band imo. Band may have been named Bon Jovi but it should have been Bon Jovi and Sambora. Again imo

    Where did this magic go...

    • @Marooshaz
      @Marooshaz 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Uncle Bozo went away due to Jon’s inability to learn to sing in a more sustainable way; losing his instrument in a process

    • @konpap9595
      @konpap9595 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      i think he is not talking about jon's voice mate...Bon Jovi fans ( the real ones ) miss THIS magic especially in songs like ill be there for you way more than we care about jon's voice being in decline...

    • @Marooshaz
      @Marooshaz 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      kon pap i personally dont know what he was refering to, but I believe you are sadly understanding the effect that Jon’s vocal detoriation has on his confidence, energy on stage, setlist selection and just overall level of his performance. Now he just ‘wrestles’ every song and gives all his effort to just stay in key, that’s why there’s no magic. Because his voice needs to be good for him to give us these moments.

    • @konpap9595
      @konpap9595 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Marooshaz thats true to some extent. But i still bielive that jon's problem is more "mental" than vocal. Sure he used to have an amazing voice but the moments that moved me the most where always the live midparts of songs like this or saturday night...and im sure that vocally he could still do these parts but he is not feeling it for 5 years now. I still love the band and i hope he feels like himself soon.

    • @konpap9595
      @konpap9595 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Best example of this is saturday night in cleveland 2013 where the overall performance was not amazing but that mid part...he CREARLY is JON BON JOVI for those 3 mins playing with the camera etc...

    Crush era JBJ may not had the same vocal level of KTH and These Days era JBJ, it certainly had its own intensity and power. But this is still part of his golden era of vocals, still 38 yrs old during this time.

    Being French (yes, I know...), something eludes me, even after all this time: I count 6 words in "I'll be there for you". How come? :) (serious question, though, I'd love to hear english speaking people's input on this).
    More seriously, this amazing rendition has given me some ambivalent feelings: I started the video with a mega huge smile on my face. God, I miss "that" band, probably as bad as I miss my 20s. And I'll forever hate myself for not having assisted to one of their concerts from "back when they were beautiful".
    I started singing along, because it's one of those songs. One that I listened over and over again on my way to school, on my walkman as a teen. And it's one of those songs that actually made me want to play guitar like Richie (which I never did, but I still think that, although he may not be the most technical player out there -and that's open for debate-, the man has got so much soul in his trade, that it still amazes me he hasn't sold his 3 solo albums by the tens of millions).
    I ended up sad. Because I know that "that" band is gone (and so are my 20s and 30s, alas). Watching Alec leave (for lack of better words) was already quite a shock (mitigated by the fact that it took Jon decades to "officially" aknowledge in the albums booklets the he was replaced by the very talented Hugh). Richie leaving was probably the "nail" on the proverbial coffin for me, since it happened at a time where I felt that Jon had somewhat lost his mojo, which he had been brilliantly expressing, in my opinion, in Keep the Faith and These Days, maybe a little bit less in Crush and Bounce, and again, back with a vengeance, in Have a Nice Day. Maybe his music evolved and I didn't, probably. And of course it's probable that younger generations prefer the later albums, and I won't even argue with that.
    I still love those men. I still love their music, even if I feel a bit less connected to it as I was once. And I'm still grateful for all these moments of joy they have given me (us?) in the last 30 years. They are probably the one band that has been with me all along, with whom I can pinpoint events in my life with albums or songs.
    In other words, Hand, I hate you. And I love you. Because these 9 minutes of video have been a sort of emotional roller coaster :)
    Grande Bon Jovi, Grande Hand90. Multiple thumbs up and sorry for the long long rant, if anyone made it that far :) (and sorry for probably a lot of english mistakes).

      So I guess I have to say that I'm sorry and you're welcome at the same time :)
      I share similar feelings and I'm so thankful that my parents dragged me to my first show on the Bounce tour when I was just 13 years old, so I was able to witness 8 concerts of my favourite band until 2011. And even though I'm a younger fan (and like some of the more recent stuff), I can connect to the older stuff much more, especially These Days. No other music in my life spoke to me like the These Days album :)
      And about your grammar question: Technically it's "I will be there for you...", but since they shortened it, they count "I'll" as one word, just as "does not" when shortened to "doesn't" is only one word as well ;)

      Thank you for your post. It made me teary-eyed but in a good way. Someone who cares so much is refreshing. I am thankful for the videos because I am a new Bon Jovi (and especially Richie Sambora) fan and without videos that everyone is willing to share here, I would never have known what I missed all those years ago when I could have been living it in real-time, so to speak. But back then, the ability to see everything was limited to what you saw on MTV or in the news or magazines. Now, we all can see all these back stories that happened with our favorite musicians so that we feel more closely connected. That is a good thing unless you are like me and it was all so long ago. That makes it sad.
