    Quantity over quality. No joke. You've read the studies i'm sure. Well in case you don't know, studies have show that if you just focus on output, you will create higher quality. Focusing on creating higher quality does not necessarily create higher quality. Make sense? So more is more. For that reason, it makes sense to just write a ton and put out a ton of stuff and don't worry if it's perfect.

    I had one of my own songs banned on Instagram because a major label claimed (randomly I believe) that it was theirs. This could potentially claim all my current earnings (which is a whole dollar yay) and future earnings on my music. Luckily with Distrokid you get an actual record label which was enough to prove to Instagram that it was in fact my music and got the ban lifted. Wouldn't know how to fix it hadn't it been for Distrokid.

    • @woosix7735

      It’s just sad, because if you don’t want to earn money on your music and don’t want a label you always risk something like this

    • @TimOost
      @TimOost 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@woosix7735 yeah, obviously to me it doesn't make much difference, but if you're seriously trying to make a living in music getting banned by major labels is a serious threat so there's no way around having a label. I would still suggest Distrokid because it's really so easy, also changing your logo or adding lyrics to the various platforms takes no effort, and like said in the video 100% of your earnings. They pay out at 2 dollars and up so for me it's going to still take a while before I'll be able to buy my first coffee off of my music.

    • @woosix7735
      @woosix7735 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TimOost yeah but you have to pay for it, I am doing music for fun only

    • @TimOost
      @TimOost 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@woosix7735 I understand, perhaps you already know this but all the major streaming platforms will only accept uploaded music from record labels. So unless you're willing to set that paperwork up yourself (I wouldn't know how to be honoust) you'll need a service like Distrokid to get your music out there. Otherwise you're basically limited to TH-cam when you add a video to your songs. Distrokid costs like a pack of string per year so to me that was ok because it is a lot of fun to be able to share a Spotify link with your friends!

    A casual rule in my life is that I hear about something from multiple people over 5 times within a single month, I need to either see it (if it's a movie) or buy it, or rent it, or something... Tascam has surpassed that about 500 times in the past few weeks..

    Hey Travis, I have a question about your signal chain:
    How do you use your 388 in your signal flow with your interface? Do you have stereo out on your 388 that you plug into the interface and just mixdown the whole mix on the 388, or do you record each track individually one at a time to the computer? Asking because I have a cassette machine and I want to record tracks individually for mixing on the computer, but I have read about timing issues with the tape having different speeds every time you record.
    Great content!
    Thanks

    • @travisraab
      @travisraab  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dalton! great question.
      I normally just do a stereo bounce out of the master of my 388. BUT if you have an interface that can accept 8 channels, then you can go PGM out and even retain the eq of your 388 and have the individual tracks in the box for extra mixing. that's right you cannot just send out tracks asynchronously from your machine into the computer cause they will be all out of sync. hope that helps

    • @travisraab
      @travisraab  ปีที่แล้ว

      additionally, you need a tape machine that has individual track outputs in order to get individual tracks to sync up in the box
